  • City Guide & Management for Las Vegas, Nevada Exhibits, Events & Environments Welcome
NATIONWIDE LABOR CITY GUIDE & MANAGEMENT FOR LAS VEGAS, NEVADA EXHIBITS, EVENTS & ENVIRONMENTS WELCOME Welcome to Las Vegas – the Entertainment Capital of the World - a city known for its bustling casinos, celebrity chef restaurants and never-ending nightlife. Born and raised in Southern California, I was always familiar with the city’s allure and now I enjoy calling it home. I have been working in the trade show industry for more than a decade, holding various field and managerial positions with both I&D companies and full service exhibit houses. Now, as the On Location Nevada Area Regional Manager, I oversee all Las Vegas based projects and lend support to our other teams throughout the west coast, including Arizona, Utah and other surrounding areas. My days are filled with resource planning, job reconciliations and communicating with the field, account executives and clients. That includes spending a lot of time on the show floor making sure all clients’ needs are met. Our team sees that it’s our job to make your job easier. Having lived and worked in the Las Vegas area for years, I can also be a helpful resource for things to do while in town. Well known for slot machines and neon lights, you never have to step foot on the casino floor to have fun. There’s unlimited restaurants, entertainment and so much more even before the sun goes down. Visitors of all ages can enjoy golf, hiking or relaxing by the pool. While this City Guide is filled with useful and fun information, questions may arise and I am here when they do.

  • A.V. Tseva, B.I. Giyasov ROPEWAYS. ANALYSIS of STANDARD AND
A.V. Tseva, B.I. Giyasov ROPEWAYS. ANALYSIS OF STANDARD AND LEGAL BASE The development of a new regulatory base in the field of ropeways construction in the Russian Federation is currently coming to an end. Federal legislation defines the following priorities: updating of Construction Norms and Regulations and state standard specifications, energy saving and energy efficiency, converging Russian and European Union standards (including standards for building design — Eurocodes). This work should be completed in 2014. Experience in designing and coordinating passenger ropeways projects may lead, after analyzing the current status of regulatory legal base, to the following suggestions: simplifying the order of ropeways registration and commissioning for the reduction in administrative resource; new regulatory base should include the links to appropriate Eurocodes (a list of which is provided in the article). Operating personnel and designers might also find useful clarifications on the application of Eurocodes and the links to the corresponding Russian normative documents, which regulate design, calculation and control of both the ropeway and its separate parts. Absence or under fulfillment of such rules (for example, as in the case of the method of calculating construction during various working/ non-working ropeway modes) should lead to their further development, which may be carried out by a combined group of ropeway designers, ropeway technologists and other related specialists; expanding security rules for passenger, cargo and ski lift ropeways on other types of cable transport, such as APM-ATS systems, which may be used throughout the Russian Federation in the future. Key words: ropeway, standard and legal base, examination, legal scheme, calculation.

Transactions on the Built Environment vol 33, © 1998 WIT Press, www.witpress.com, ISSN 1743-3509 Re-emergence of People Movers A.S. Jakes Jakes Associates, Inc., Jakes Plaza, 1940 TheAlameda, Suite 200, Email: jai9330@aol. com Abstract This paper reviews how various newly-developed People Mover technologies have solved visitor circulation needs in many resort complexes in the United States and selected countries. This approach can be duplicated in many cities worldwide since the level of ridership in environments such as Las Vegas, Nevada frequently exceeds levels typically found in medium-sized transit systems worldwide. We focus particularly on existing proven technologies and specific installations including the following: Ropeway Horizontal Elevators (Mirage, Primadonna, Circus-Circus and Sun City Automated People Mover installations); Monorails (MGM Grand-Bally's Monorail and its expansion plans); Minirails (Prim City Unitrak system); Beltways (Monte Carlo and Bellagio systems under construction); Miscellaneous. While the transit industry still perceives People Movers as an unwelcome novelty and as disturbing the daily routine of conventional transportation planning, the recent re-emergence of innovative, lower-cost People Mover technologies and the resultant successful installations worldwide prove otherwise. Defying the 'laws of gravity' held by a majority of conventional transit consultants may no longer be allowed as millions of satisfied riders continue to praise new technologies. Over 160 'standalone' People Mover technologies (developed to date) are no longer emerging; on the contrary, they have emerged fully, with 17% proven in operation and 22% proven on a test track. Many of the remaining 61% are currently struggling for funding to prove their viability.
