Soon, he had them published in For auld lang syne, my dear, a book in the small town of Kilmarnock. Copies of the Kilmarnock For auld lang syne. edition reached Edinburgh and the intellectuals there were We'll tak a cup o' kindness yet, impressed right away. Most of Burn's poems were short, lyrical For auld lang syne. - Robert Burns pieces but they became an instant hit. It is said his poems celebrate the natural love between a man and woman, the enjoyment of sociable drinking and the pride of the self-reliant man and woman. The accumulations of snow each evening for a few days was rearranged by the wind on Saturday to make for an unpleasant day – good to be on the inside looking out! And then the cold temps combined with the wind – not much wonder Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday saw record- breaking natural gas consumption. You know it’s cold when the ice plant at the local curling rink freezes up! But heh – it could be worse – like St. John’s, Nfld – so much snow, no place to put it other than dumping it into the ocean! And it’s only the 3rd week in January! Facebook gave us some insights into some of the residents being able to cope with humor when opening their door to find the snow totally blocking their exit – making a snowman face – using it as a fridge for ‘beverages’ – snowbanks over 6 feet high! And now we are supposedly in for some more seasonable – and maybe above -- temps for the next week or so … we’ll take it! Have you managed to escape the flu bug so far? According to the stats we are dealing with the A strain H3N2 – BUT the B strain which normally hits in February and March has for some reason arrived early this season.
