GOALSSTADIUM DISTRICT CONCEPT PLAN DECEMBER 2012 Washington State Major League Baseball Stadium Public Facilities District Washington State Public Stadium Authority Dear Friends and Neighbors: As members of the two volunteer public boards created to manage and protect the public’s investment in Safeco Field and CenturyLink Field and Event Center, we are pleased to offer for your consideration this Stadium District Concept Plan. The plan represents our vision for what a Stadium District might become, over a ten-year period and beyond, to dramatically and positively impact its neighborhood. The plan was prepared in the context of breathtaking changes now underway for the central downtown waterfront, major new development in the North Lot at CenturyLink Field, and other opportunities in the historic neighborhoods of Pioneer Square, Chinatown/ International District, and SODO. The introduction of a possible new arena in the District adds to the significance of our effort. What we offer is not a finished plan or a fixed blueprint for the future. It is an initial concept that the Public Stadium Authority and Public Facilities District, along with the Seattle Mariners, Seahawks, and Sounders FC believe to be the essential elements of a successful stadium district—one that is economically successful, safe, desirable, innovative, inviting and irresistibly fun to live in and visit. This Stadium District Concept Plan states our core values and the guiding principles adopted by both boards after completing several workshops attended by members of the two boards and representatives of the three teams. Our work was facilitated, and the plan was drafted, by ZGF Architects LLP and AECOM. -

REPORT ON DESIGNATION LPB 11/12 Name and Address of Property: Fashioncraft Building/Recovery Cafe 2022 Boren Avenue Legal Description: Lots 3 and 4 lying West of Fairview Avenue, Block 53 of the Plat of the Second Addition to the Town of Seattle Laid Off by the Heirs of Sarah A. Bell, according to the Plat thereof recorded in Volume 1 of Plats, Page 121, in King County, Washington. At the public meeting held on January 4, 2012 the City of Seattle's Landmarks Preservation Board voted to approve designation of the Fashioncraft Building/Recovery Café at 2022 Boren Avenue as a Seattle Landmark based upon satisfaction of the following standards for designation of SMC 25.12.350: C. It is associated in a significant way with a significant aspect of the cultural, political, or economic heritage of the community, City, state, or nation; and D. It embodies the distinctive visible characteristics of an architectural style, period, or of a method of construction; and F. Because of its prominence of spatial location, contrasts of siting, age, or scale, it is an easily identifiable visual feature of its neighborhood or the City and contributes to the distinctive quality or identity of such neighborhood or the City. PHYSICAL DESCRIPTION Overall Aspect The Fashioncraft Building at 2022 Boren Avenue is sited on the triangular lot, bounded by Denny Way, Fairview Avenue and Boren Avenue. The building, whose plan is basically a chamfered right triangle, is one story in height, but has a basement. The exterior is primarily clad in light brown brick with cast stone ornament, which echoes Churriguresque decoration or the Spanish Eclectic work of American architects, such as Bertram Goodhue. -

Bring comfortable shoes! The culinary scene is varied. Most people think seafood, and that’s fine, but with its location on the Pacific Rim, use this opportunity to sample flavors not common in other parts of the country. Thai, Vietnamese, Korean and Japanese cuisines are common and wonderful! It does rain here. However, it’s rarely all day and almost never hard enough to actually affect most plans. Many people find layers the most comfortable way to deal with our changing weather conditions. It doesn’t rain ALL the time. Summers, after about July 5th, are usually warm and mostly dry. Starbucks is on every corner. Don’t get sucked in. You can have Starbucks at home. Seattle is a coffee-crazed city and there are numerous small shops and roasters that will give you a memorable cup of coffee, so explore. Moore Coffee, Cherry Street, and Elm Coffee Roasters are all centrally located and wonderful, and just a small sample of the excellent coffee this town has to offer. Insider’s Tip: Many of the activities listed here are covered under Seattle’s CityPass program. Save money and time by purchasing in advance! HOW TO GET AROUND Seattle is super easy to navigate, and for ease and to save money, we don’t recommend a rental car for our downtown, belltown, and capitol hill homes. -

SEATTLE CENTER HISTORY / TIMELINE 1853 David Denny files a land claim for a tract that more than a century later will become the site of Century 21Exposition. 1881 Saloonkeeper James Osborne bequeaths $20,000 to build a civic hall for social and cultural gatherings. His gift is eventually augmented by public funding. 1886 David and Louse Boren Denny donate land for the civic hall. 1927 A public bond passes and construction begins on Civic Auditorium. Civic Field opens. 1928 Mayor Bertha K. Landis dedicates the Civic Center Complex. 1939 Washington National Guard Armory is dedicated. 1947 High School Memorial Stadium opens. 1948 Un-American Activities hearings on alleged communist acts take place in the Armory. 1951 Memorial Wall honoring Seattle high school students killed in WW II is dedicated. 1954 City Council member Al Rochester proposes the idea that Seattle host a world’s fair to mark the 50th anniversary of the Alaska-Yukon-Pacific Exposition of 1909. 1956 World's Fair Commission votes unanimously to coordinate the World' Fair program with the city effort to develop a civic center at and around the Civic Auditorium. Seattle voters approve a $7.5 million bond issue for building and land acquisition in the vicinity of Civic Auditorium. 1957 World’s Fair Commission receives authorization from Washington Governor Albert Rosellini to hold a fair in Seattle in 1960, and Washington State Legislature approves $7.5 million in funding for the World's Fair. World’s Fair theme changes from a celebration of the 1909 A-Y-P to Century 21 following the USSR’s Sputnik launch. -
