Presents KERI HILSON Keri Lynn Hilson (born December 5, 1982 in Decatur, Georgia) is a Grammy award nominated American R&B singer- songwriter signed to Timbaland’s Mosley Music Group. She is also a part of a collective of writers and producers known as The Clutch, and has written hits for many artists including Britney Spears, Usher, Ciara, Ludacris and Omarion. After performing on Xzibit’s song Hey Now (Mean Muggin’) and Timbaland’s album Shock Value she released her debut album, In A Perfect World…, in 2009. It spawned the hit singles Energy, Turnin’ Me On and Knock You Down which featured Kanye West and Ne-Yo and reached #3 on the Billboard Hot 100. Hilson has been writing music for other artists since 2001, including Britney Spears, Ciara, Usher, and Ludacris. Despite having made a name for herself as an arranger and background vocalist, lending her vocal talents to many of the songs she wrote on, Hilson remained behind the scenes for the most part until 2004, when she was featured on Xzibit’s single, “Hey Now (Mean Muggin)” and made her performing debut singing the track live at the 2004 MTV Europe Awards. In 2006, Hilson reappeared on the music scene in the video for Nelly Furtado’s single “Promiscuous”. Meanwhile, she signed as an artist with Timbaland’s newly formed Interscope associated label Mosley Music Group and the pair started work on her debut album ‘”In A Perfect World…”. # 2007/18 dschungel https://jungle.world/artikel/2007/18/schockschwerenot Schockschwerenot Von Markus Ströhlein Auf seiner neuen Platte »Shock Value« macht der Star-Produzent Timbaland Popmusik zum Abgewöhnen. von markus ströhlein Eigentlich bevorzugt James Cameron eher das Bombastische. Der Regisseur hat Arnold Schwarzenegger einmal als marodierenden Killerroboter, ein anderes Mal als Cyborg- Babysitter um die Zukunft der Menschheit kämpfen lassen. Sigourney Weaver hat er auf den Planeten der Aliens geschickt, von dem am Ende des Films freilich nur Sternenstaub übrig bleibt. Cameron hat auf der Leinwand die Titanic versenkt und Leonardo Di Caprio noch dazu. Wenn sich der Regisseur ans Werk macht, kracht, knallt und rummst es. Und zwar ordentlich. Deshalb fragt man sich, ob wirklich James Cameron oder nicht nur ein Mann mit dem gleichen Namen die Regie des Videos von »Give it to me« zu verantworten hat. Denn was die Kamera zeigt, kann man getrost als öde bezeichnen. Timbaland, von dem der Song stammt, und seine Protegés Justin Timberlake und Nelly Furtado, die für jeweils eine Strophe ihren Einsatz haben, glotzen ins Objektiv und geben ihre Textzeilen zum Besten. Mal stehen sie auf dem Dach eines Hochhauses, mal auf der Bühne, mal nach Feierabend im Tourbus. Irgendwie wirkt es, als hätte der Regisseur auch vorzeitig Feierabend gemacht und die Kamera einfach in seiner Abwesenheit weiter laufen lassen. Vielleicht war sich Cameron ja darüber im Klaren, dass Musikvideos mittlerweile bedeutungslos sind. Warum also einen großen Aufwand betreiben? Oder er hat sich Timbalands neues Album »Shock Value« angehört und dessen Qualität als Maßstab herangezogen. »Give it to me« führt den Hörer zunächst in die Irre. -

My first real encounter with actual German hip-hop was in late July 2003 at Germany’s MTV Hip Hop Open at Stuggard, Germany. Johannes "Strachi" Strachwitz runs 711hiphop.com. Strachi and Alex Ritcher are the co-promoters of the MTV Hip-Hop Open. Alex also runs a major German talent agency called Four Artists. Some of Germany's top hip-hop groups are on Four Artists. MTV was broadcasting the live one-day hip-hop concert that drew around 10,000 German teenagers. I hadn’t arrived but a minute and was interviewing some German lowriders at the MTV Hip-Hop Open Fairgrounds. I started paying attention to a German hip-hop song blaring on the loud speakers. The beat was forgettable, but the hook was not. I barely bopping my head to the beat when the hook jumped in saying, “We Das Niggas!” “We Das Niggas!” I thought it was funny hearing the N-word in German and then I realized I was the only “Das Nigga” around a sea of white and unfamiliar faces. But why should I be surprised to see thousands of foreign white folks shouting out “Where My Nigga At?” Or “Nigga Who” or dozens and dozens of “Nigga” hooks on practically every major hit hip-hop song or music video. Our hood or urban culture is everywhere in Germany--the good and the bad. So I laughed off my “We Das Niggas” experience and enjoyed the concert. The acts at the MTV Open were all popular German hip-hop stars and the only noticeable US performer was RZA of the Wu Tang Clan. -
