"Thanks for a great day at Mallory last week, please send me a membership application form as I would like to join the VMCC." - Mel Stork, Leicester ...Brilliant event - Can we do it again please!..." - Chris Illman, Sprint Section "...For me and for my UK Club Members this was a very nice and positive week-end, with the great opportunity for me to ride an 'Orange Bike' in one of the most famous UK Circuits. From our side we will do our best to be present again next year with our racers and works bikes." - Piero Laverda "We just wanted to say how much we enjoyed our day at the '1000 bikes'. The whole evnt was wonderfully managed and was a credit to all involved...." - Hazel and Geoff "...My friends and I had a great time. It appeared to us to be well organised and we got excellent value for our money..." - Graham, Tony, Jane and Maggie "Congratulations on a superb event. Had a really enjoyable week-end. WELL DONE!" - John Oborn, Isle of White "...I think the Festival was great, I liked the variety of static displays you had inside and outside the paddock, on top of that there was a lot of action going on with the trials, grass speedway, the on-track parades and sprints. Marvellous stuff, well done..." - Simon Wilkinson-Blak, CEO of the BMF "Could I congratulate the team that planned the Diamond Jubilee Festival at Mallory Park for putting together a superb week-end of action and entertainment. The management was slick, the organisation faultless and as relaxed and friendly as a good holiday.... Can we do it again soon!." - Frank Allinson "Firstly an enormous thank you from both myself and my father to you and all your staff and the organising committee for such a wonderful event. I am sure there must have been crises throughout the week-end but certainly from everything I saw it was an extremely well organised and well run event that ran like clockwork.... On a personal note than you for the opportunity for my father to have, what may well prove to be his last ride, I am indebted to you and Paul for making this happen, he thoroughly enjoyed himself and felt and looked 20 years younger, met countless people he had not seen for years and went home as excited a s schoolboy with his first pushbike...." - Steve Allen, son of the Founder "The Festival weekend was absolutely brilliant, thanks very much for all your hard work, it has paid off. It was a wonderful occasion, I was only able to ride on Saturday but what an experience." - Charles Parker, Burton upon Trent "I think I can say that I had one of the best days of my life on Saturday thrashing my homebuilt 195cc Gillette around Mallory, despite destroying my gearbox in my second outing and being forced to miss Sunday ride I still feel like I am up in the clouds a day later!1 It was Fantastic!!!!..." - Geoff Bouchard, Leicester "Just to say thanks for the invitation to Mallory, fantastic to ride the old circuit, I had forgotten how fast the Devil's Elbow used to be!..." - Mike Hemmings, Northampton "...We thoroughly enjoyed it and basked in the visibility it gave our bikes as they showed the world how well the perform on the track.

6/18/2021 Triumph Motorcycles Timeline: The Glory Years, 1963-1972 Triumph Motorcycles timeline 1963-1972: The Glory Years See bottom of page for links to other eras in Triumph's history New: Post your comments, opinions, and ask questions on my new FORUM. Tiger 90, high performance 350 3TA introduced, similar to T100S/S. All 650s, (including Bonnies, 1963 Tbirds, TR6, Trophy) are built with a new unit construction engine/gear box. Tina T10, 100cc scooter with automatic transmission introduced (designed by Turner). The US-only TR6SC, a pure desert racer with straight pipes, was produced: basically a single-carb T120, very fast. 650s all get new coil ignition. First year for T120 unit construction models. The Bonnie undergoes numerous and significant upgrades to its engine, gearbox, transmission and frame (after toying with a duplex design, Triumph instead made a larger diameter downtube to combat wobble and weave). A special TT model (T120C/TT) is produced until 1967 for the USA, due to the encouragement of Bill Johnson, of Johnson Motors ("Jo-Mo"). This is a stripped-down racing model, only made until 1966 for the US market. Two US dealers on a camping trip come up with the idea for the T20M Mountain Cub, combining Tiger Cub, Sports Cub and trials Cub parts. First sold in USA in 1964, proves very successful. BSA closes the Ariel factory at Selly Oak. The last Ariels in production, the Leader and Arrow, are manufactured at BSA's factory in Small Heath until 1965. Norton Atlas released. AMC acquires James. Norman ceases production.

  • Note 138: Isle of Man TT Mountain Circuit:- Course
P.1 of 9 Note 138 Isle of Man TT Mountain circuit:- Course Records Writing Note 137 about Indianapolis reminded this author that there is another circuit used for racing since 1911 which is almost unchanged – the Isle of Man Mountain circuit. This Note reviews the course records achieved there by Tourist Trophy motor-cycles and puts them in perspective with the machine Power/Weight ratios. The Mountain course of 37.73 miles used since 1920* rises to a height of 1,400 feet. It had a large surface change from mostly loose to tarmacadamed by 1925 and has had many corners “eased” since then but its plan is essentially unchanged. Unlike Indianapolis, with its 4 left-hand quarter- circle corners, it has 264 bends of every description! The plan is shown below. DASO 1246 *For the 1911-1914 races the course was 37.7 miles. In 1920 a change was made for the last few miles from Cronk-ny-Mona to bring the Start/Finish line onto the Glencrutchery Road. Course Record list As there does not seem to be readily available a consolidated list of outright Course Records one has been assembled from various sources. It is given in Appendix A at P. 6. There may be omissions. The figures are plotted on Fig. 1 at P.2 below, with various appropriate notes. The Confederate Chapter Newsletter The New Rusty Rebel In this Issue: 2011 - Spring Issue A Publication of the Confederate Chapter of The Colonel Speaks The Antique Motorcycle Club of America Letter from the Editor Las Vegas Auction—Results Bonhams & Mid America Did Elvis Ride Motorcycles? Farewell Bob Ward Remembering Raymond Dhue Members New Toys New Barber 2010 Format Next Survivor Series Well here it is February 15, 2011, Where does the time go. It is with great sadness that we say good-bye to one of our own, again. Bob Ward was a great Friend and Brother and he passed away doing what he loved the most. We will all miss your friendly, helpful, loving per- sonality. Till we meet again. The BIG ride 2010, which was a history making event, was the Scooter Ride, spearheaded by none other than ―Big Daddy‖ Ed Dacus. SO WE THOUGHT . What a great job and a GREAT ride. That was last April. But the REALLY BIG RIDE of 2010 was the November Scooter Ride. Thanks again to all the people involved and a special Colonel Bob thanks to Jeffie Dacus Ed’s Mother, Sherri Dacus, Les- lie Dacus Ed’s daughter-in-law. The Breakfast was OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD AGAIN. NOVEM- BER 13, 2010 turned out to be one of the coldest and rainiest days of the month. But the response was overwhelming. You may know 79 people attended the April event with 49 riders were rolling. The November event brought out 112 people and a total of 97 bikes, 50 of which braved the elements and actually rode the three stop shop tour laid out by Big Daddy and Shane Dorton.
