Science Advisory Group for the review of potential environmental contamination in Grenfell and North Kensington Membership Membership of the SAG consists of independent subject experts chosen by the Government Chief Scientific Adviser, based on their professional expertise. They are fully independent of government, except for Professor Chris Whitty, Deputy Chief Medical Officer, and they bring their own opinions and skills to the group. The SAG is chaired by Patrick Vallance, the Government Chief Scientific Adviser. Current Members • Patrick Vallance - Government Chief Scientific Adviser, Government Office for Science • Lindsay Bramwell - Research Associate in Toxicology, University of Newcastle • Alexandra Freeman - Executive Director, Winton Institute, University of Cambridge • Len Levy - Emeritus Professor of Environmental Health, University of Cranfield • Ragnar Löfstedt - Professor of Risk Management, King's College London • Robert Mokaya - Professor of Materials Chemistry, University of Nottingham • Anthony Newman Taylor - Professor of Occupational and Environmental Medicine, Imperial College London • Munir Pirmohamed, David Weatherall Chair in Medicine, University of Liverpool • James Rubin - Reader in Psychology of Emerging Health Risks, King's College London • John Warner - Professor of Paediatrics, Imperial College London (joined January 19) • Chris Whitty - Chief Scientific Adviser, Department of Health and Social Care and Deputy Chief Medical Officer • Jose Torero - Professor & Head of UCL Department of Civil, Environmental, Geomatic & Environmental Engineering (joined September 19) Co-opted – invited to attend SAG meetings • The SQP - Paul Nathanail, Managing Director, Land Quality Management – Suitably Qualified Person (SQP) under the National Quality Mark Scheme for Land Contamination Management (appointed April 2019). • Andrew Curran – Health and Safety Adviser, Chief Scientific Adviser and Director of Research at the Health and Safety Executive. Previous Members Membership updated to reflect the resignation of Professor Anna Stec from the group on 25 July 2019. .
