Senior co-captain Sue Wurl is a graduate of Duluth East High School. Wurl plays guard and has exceptional passing skills, along with being a strong shooter. Sue also captains the UMD women's cross country team and participated in the AIAW national championships in Tallahassee, Flori­ da, this past fall. Junior co-captain Sharon Meyer is also a native Duluthian and graduated from Duluth Central High School. Sharon is a strong jumper and a good inside player. This is Meyer's third varsity year as a forward.

COACHING STAFF

As head coach of the UMD Bulldogs, Linda Larson will begin her fourth year with an accumulated 48-35 coaching record. The Bulldogs placed third in MAIAW state compe­ tition 1979 and compiled an 18-12 record. Along with her basketball coaching responsibilities, Larson also coaches the UMD team and is the coordinator of women's athletics. Assistant coach Donna Statzell is a new addition to the 1979-80 Bulldog team. Statzell has taught and coached volleyball, basketball, and track at Munster High School and Concordia Lutheran High School in . She ob­ tained her bachelor's degree in physical education at Val­ Linda Larson paraisio University and her master's at Indiana University.
