4 Stage 1a

Approx. Duration: April to end of May

Construction site(s): • East side Highway 1 • South side Rio Road

Activities: • shifted to west side Highway 1 • Roadway excavation, grading, paving, and drainage

Expected Outcome: • New pavement and striping on south side Rio Road

5 Stage 1b Approx. Duration: Month of June

Construction site(s): • East side Highway 1 • North side Rio Road

Activities: • Traffic remains on west side Highway 1 • Roadway excavation, grading, paving, and drainage

Expected Outcomes: • Widened road, new paving and striping on east side of Highway 1

6 Stage 2 Approx. Duration: July to end of August

Construction Site: • West side Highway 1

Activities: • Traffic shifted to east side Highway 1 • Roadway excavation, grading, paving, and drainage • Remove temporary barriers • Final paving and striping, activate new signal at Rio Rd • Landscaping

Expected Outcomes: • Project completion

7 Stage 2 Approx. Duration: July to end of August

Construction Site: • West side Highway 1

Activities: • Final paving and striping, activate new signal at Carmel Valley Rd

Expected Outcomes: • Project completion

 What do you do with information from the public?  Weekly Communications and Construction Meetings

9 Inquiries from Community  Are there alternatives?  Is County open to longer work days and night work to expedite project?  Why don’t you move the k-rail when no work is going on over weekends?  How will weekend traffic back-ups be addressed during construction?  How much improvement will be seen in traffic once this project is completed?
