+Divine Service, Setting One - LSB pg. 151+ +Confession and Absolution+ indicates that the following words will be sung

Why is there no invocation today? Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday are the celebration of the holy three days of Christ’s Passover, commonly known as the Triduum. Because the Triduum is seen as one service in three parts, the service begins with the invocation on Maundy Thursday and no Benediction is spoken until Easter Sunday.

Opening Hymn: Christ is Risen Today, LSB 457, stzs. 1-2 with Jubellation Handbells

Opening Responses P Christ is risen! C He is risen indeed! Alleluia! P “Why do you seek the living among the dead? C He is not here, but has risen. (:5-6) P For I know that my Redeemer lives, C and at the last he will stand upon the earth. (Job 19:25) P But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, C the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. (I Corinthians 15:20) P Jesus said: “Fear not, C I am the first and the last, and the living one. P I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, C and I have the keys of Death and Hades. (Revelation 1:17-18) P Christ is risen! C He is risen indeed! Alleluia!

+Confession and Absolution+ P If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. C But if we confess our sins, God, who is faithful and just, will forgive our sins and cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

Silence for reflection on God's Word and for self-examination.

P Let us then confess our sins to God our Father. C Most merciful God, we confess that we are by nature sinful and unclean. We have sinned against You in thought, word, and deed, by what we have done and by what we have left undone. We have not loved You with our whole heart; we have not loved our neighbors as ourselves. We justly deserve Your present and eternal punishment. For the sake of Your Son, Jesus Christ, have mercy on us. Forgive us, renew us, and lead us, so that we may delight in Your will and walk in Your ways to the glory of Your holy name. Amen. P Almighty God in His mercy has given His Son to die for you and for His sake forgives you all your sins. As a called and ordained servant of Christ, and by His authority, I therefore forgive you all your sins in the name of the Father and of the T Son and of the Holy Spirit. C Amen.

This Is the Feast LSB 155

C This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

Worthy is Christ, the Lamb who was slain, whose blood set us free to be people of God. This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

For the Lamb who was slain has begun His reign. Alleluia. This is the feast of victory for our God. Alleluia, alleluia, alleluia.

+Service of the Word+ Old Testament Reading Job 19:23–27 23“Oh that my words were written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book! 24Oh that with an iron pen and lead they were engraved in the rock forever! 25For I know that my Redeemer lives, and at the last he will stand upon the earth. 26And after my skin has been thus destroyed, yet in my flesh I shall see God, 27whom I shall see for myself, and my eyes shall behold, and not another. My heart faints within me!” A This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God.

Epistle Romans 8:15-18 15For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” 16The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, 17and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him. 18For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. A This is the Word of the Lord. C Thanks be to God.

Alleluia and Verse

Holy Gospel :1-11 P The Holy Gospel according to St. Matthew, the twenty-eighth chapter. C Glory to You, O Lord.

1Now after the Sabbath, toward the dawn of the first day of the week, Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2And behold, there was a great earthquake, for an angel of the Lord descended from heaven and came and rolled back the stone and sat on it. 3His appearance was like lightning, and his clothing white as snow. 4And for fear of him the guards trembled and became like dead men. 5But the angel said to the women, “Do not be afraid, for I know that you seek Jesus who was crucified. 6He is not here, for he has risen, as he said. Come, see the place where he lay. 7Then go quickly and tell his disciples that he has risen from the dead, and behold, he is going before you to Galilee; there you will see him. See, I have told you.” 8So they departed quickly from the tomb with fear and great joy, and ran to tell his disciples. 9And behold, Jesus met them and said, “Greetings!” And they came up and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. 10Then Jesus said to them, “Do not be afraid; go and tell my brothers to go to Galilee, and there they will see me.” 11While they were going, behold, some of the guard went into the city and told the chief priests all that had taken place.

P This is the Gospel of the Lord. C Praise to You, O Christ.
