The painting was number 488 in the inventory taken of the artist's possessions after his death in 1883. [2] Mrs. Riezler's maiden name was Liebermann. The painting was lent by the Riezlers to a 1948 exhibition at Wildenstein's. [3] The painting was Included in a 1966 exhibition of French paintings from Mellon collections at the NGA.
