The first water and gas valves in Switzerland were produced here in 1863. Faucets have been manufactured at the Laufen site since 2009. Antoniolupi is a Tuscan company which has stood out in the design and manufacturing of bathroom furniture, both in Italy and abroad, for the past sixty years. The distinctive features of this ever-developing company are its ability to innovate by continuously creating design, while investing heavily in manufacturing technology and collaborating with well-known designers. The Devon&Devon brand made its debut in 1989 in Florence as the offshoot of a business initiative of architects Gianni and Paola Tanini who have been at the helm of the company since the outset, sharing the same managerial and creative vision: create a complete, coordinated bathroom inspired by European tradition and the most refined American design of the first half of the 20th century. SANITARY WARES & FIXTURES Since 1956, THG Paris has established itself as THE brand for high end bathroom fittings and accessories. Semi-precious stones, crystal, porcelain, onyx, optical glass, natural marble: the brand scrupulously selects top quality materials to create exceptional pieces. THG Paris represents resolutely timeless The days were long. More than sixty years ago, Aloys F. Dornbracht, who was 57 years old at the time and his son Helmut, were working until five o’clock in the afternoon for other firms, so that they could then use their wages to set up their own business in an old shack in Iserlohn. Evening after evening, they stood at the workbench, filing and polishing the first Dornbracht patent - a totally new fitting with an extending spout Today, it is still that entrepreneurial spirit to take risks and welcome change, that determines the success of this family company. Alape has been synonymous with quality solutions in the sanitary area since 1896. Such classics as the sink basin, the world’s first built-in basin and the first bathroom cabinet-washtable combination were invented by this tradition-steeped company. In this way, Alape also had a decisive influence on the development of the bathroom With Aloys F. Dornbracht GmbH & Co. KG and Alape GmbH, the Dornbracht Group unites two premium suppliers for kitchen, bathroom and spa items under one roof. SANITARY WARES & FIXTURES Fantini is a typical example of an Italian design factory, a family business established in 1947 by brothers Giovanni and Ersilio Fantini, a place with immense creative intensity that manages to combine great hand-crafting skill with industrial technology and processes Fantini is in Pella, on the shores of Lake Orta, a small lake set among the mountains of Piedmont: it’s a sort of genius loci, an ideal location where the constant presence of water and the serene atmosphere it creates are the premises for work and creativity. Zucchetti’s success story first began in a small foundry in Valduggia (in the province of Vercelli) set up by Alfredo Zucchetti in 1929. Today the Zucchetti. Kos Group, led by Elena and Carlo, with cousins Marco and Paolo Zucchetti, consists of 4 factories and a logistics centre covering a total of 72,000 square metres, employing 400 people and producing 2 million articles every year. For more than 15 years Steinberg have been offering products out of the ordinary to better express your individuality. The Steinberg brand enables you to make a personal statement also in bathroom and spa, for they are part of the integrated living concept—a homage to your individual lifestyle. Uniform and ordinary designs make it hard to express your individual lifestyle, however, which is why we at Steinberg focus on our designs being individual, fresh and all other than conventional. This has been our basic principle from the very beginning—and still is. SANITARY WARES & FIXTURES The company, first established under the name Fir Rubinetterie, grew over time, diversifying production and offering new types of products, including mixer taps and shower heads for professional use and large facilities, bathroom accessories, mirrors, lighting and heated towel rails, aimed at accommodating the refined taste of those who wish to coordinate décor elements with mixer taps and shower heads from a design and aesthetic viewpoint. Extraordinary creativity and experimentation in the field of marble processing and magnification of Made in Italy.

In 25 this paper, we conducted a systematic revision of the Troglohyphantes species of the Italian Alps, 26 with a special focus on the Lucifuga complex, including the description of two new species (T. 27 lucifer n. sp. and T. apenninicus n. sp). In addition, we provided new diagnostic drawings of the 28 holotype of T. henroti (Henroti complex) and established three new synonymies within the genus. 29 The molecular analysis of the animal DNA barcode confirms the validity of this method of 30 identification of the Alpine Troglohyphantes and provides additional support for the morphology- 31 based species complexes. Finally, we revised the known distribution range of additional 32 Troglohyphantes species, as well as other poorly known alpine cave-dwelling spiders.

Finding interventions aimed to implement mitigation and adaptation has become imperative to safeguard territories. In this scenario, the local authorities can and must play a key role. These are the premises from which the SEAP_ALPS project, developed in the framework of EU Alpine Space Programme, was started. The twelve partners, coming from eleven Alpine regions, had the opportunity to com- pare and capitalize different experiences. The project has developed guidelines and tools to support more than forty pilot municipalities in the drafting of Sustainable Energy Action Plans – SEAPs – whose contents go beyond the field of climate change mitigation by including local adaptation policies, often not yet widespread.

Palin* Key words: Farmers, pesticides, cancer risk, Province of Vercelli, Italy Parole chiave: Coltivatori diretti, pesticidi, rischio di cancro, Provincia di Vercelli, Italia Abstract Background: As the link between agricultural pesticides and numerous types of human cancers is well- known. Farmers living in the Province of Vercelli (Italy) were observed to verify if they have a higher cancer risk than the rest of the local employed population. Literature showed a well-known excess of cancer morbidity and mortality in the Province of Vercelli, but only few studies focused on cancer incidence in local farmers. Studying farmers could allow to assess the causal importance respectively of environmental pressure and professional exposure factors in explaining cancer excesses in the above-mentioned area. Materials and methods: The present ecological study considered all cancer new cases recorded among the mean employed population with a range of age from 25 to 84 years and resident in the Province of Vercelli during the four-year period 2002-2005. Cancer odds ratios, by gender and type of cancer, between farmers and non-farmers were calculated. Results: Farmers showed a higher risk for the following tumors: colorectal (OR 2.38, IC95%: 1,76-2,87), leaukaemia (OR 2.65, IC95%:2,12-2,89), digestive system (OR 2.16, IC95% 1,92-2,33), lymphoma OR 2.08, IC95%:1,99-2,23), melanoma (OR 2.90, IC95%:2,54-3,15), myeloma OR 3.55, IC95%:3,23-3,70), pancreas OR 3.38, IC95%:3,14-3,61), lung (1.59, IC95%:1,12-2,38) and kidney (2.70, IC95%:2,41-2,99).

We examine an application of Acoustic Emission (AE) technique for a probabilistic analysis in time and space of earthquakes, in order to preserve the valuable Italian Renaissance Architectural Complex named “The Sacred Mountain of Varallo.” Among the forty-five chapels of the Renaissance Complex, the structure of the Chapel XVII is of particular concern due to its uncertain structural condition and due to the level of stress caused by the regional seismicity. Therefore, lifetime assessment, taking into account the evolution of damage phenomena, is necessary to preserve the reliability and safety of this masterpiece of cultural heritage. A continuous AE monitoring was performed to assess the structural behavior of the Chapel. During the monitoring period, a correlation between peaks of AE activity in the masonry of the “Sacred Mountain of Varallo” and regional seismicity was found.

This publication represents the results of the first phase of the project, which is implemented in the framework of the EU Transnational Cooperation Programme “MED” and is co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. As Lead partner, I strongly believe that LOSAMEDCHEM is a significant occasion of development for all the involved areas. The publication at issue is an opportunity for the dissemination of the results of this initial phase in which the partners have carried out a SWOT analysis within their territory and that has led to the identification of Best Practices. Moreover, I would like to underline the importance of this phase as a basis for the development of subsequent phases of the project. Furthermore, through the development of those phases I hope that it could be possible to obtain benefits for the areas involved by the project. Finally, I think that LOSAMEDCHEM will achieve concrete results and I am sure that, through the efforts of all partners, such an objective will be reached. Indeed, the concreteness in results is a priority for us: this is because it is the only way to produce benefits to the territories involved in the project.
