Benth., pertencente a subfamília Papilionoideae e tribo Phaseoleae, compreende cerca de 35 espécies distribuídas na região Neotropical, sendo o Brasil considerado seu centro de diversidade. Centrosema caracteriza-se pelo estandarte, geralmente calcarado na porção dorsal, aurículas das alas pubescentes e estigma truncado e ciliado. Até o momento, os trabalhos com Centrosema são bastante incipientes, o que limitou a compreensão das relações entre as suas espécies. Tendo em vista a sua diversidade e a má delimitação das suas espécies existentes no Estado da Bahia, no presente estudo foi realizada a Flora de Centrosema para a Bahia com os objetivos de realizar um estudo taxonômico do gênero para o Estado e avaliar a distribuição de suas espécies, contribuindo assim, para a Flora da Bahia como um todo. A dissertação está dividida em dois capítulos: no Capítulo I, é descrita e ilustrada a nova espécie Centrosema sericiflorum, com distribuição restrita ao norte da Chapada Diamantina; no Capítulo II é apresentado o tratamento taxonômico de Centrosema para o Estado da Bahia, a partir das análises de 15 herbários nacionais e de sete expedições de campo realizadas em diferentes municípios do Estado. Foram reconhecidos 15 táxons no gênero, distribuídos nos diferentes domínios fitogeográficos (Caatinga, Cerrado e Mata Atlântica). São apresentadas chave de identificação, descrições, comentários gerais para todas as espécies, ilustrações e mapas de distribuição geográfica. 2 ABSTRACT The genus Centrosema (DC.) Benth., belonging to the subfamily Papilionoideae and Phaseoleae tribe, comprises about 35 species distributed in the Neotropics, and Brazil considered its center of diversity. Centrosema is characterized by standard, usually spur at the dorsal portion of the atria and truncated wings pubescent and ciliated stigma. To date, work with Centrosema are quite incipient, which limited the understanding of the relationship between their species. Given its diversity and poor demarcation of their existing species in the state of Bahia, the present study, we prepared the Flora of Centrosema to Bahia with the objectives of holding a taxonomic study of the genus for the state and assess the distribution of its species, thus contributing to the Flora of Bahia as a whole. The dissertation is divided into two chapters: Chapter I, the new Centrosema sericiflorum is described and ilustrated; Chapter II taxonomic treatment Centrosema for the state of Bahia is presented, based on the analyzes 15 national herbaria and seven field expeditions conducted in different municipalities. 15 taxa for the genus, distributed in different phytogeographical domain (Caatinga, Cerrado and Atlantic Forest) and the two major river basins Bathing State (East Atlantic Basin and the San Francisco Basin) were recognized Identification key, descriptions, general comments for all species, illustrations and maps of geographical distribution are presented. 3 INTRODUÇÃO GERAL A família Leguminosae pertencente à ordem Fabales (APG III, 2009) compreende aproximadamente 751 gêneros e ca. 19.500 espécies, representando a terceira maior família entre as Angiospermas (Lewis et al., 2005; LPWG, 2013). Seus representantes são cosmopolitas, difundindo-se pelas diversas formações vegetacionais, principalmente nas regiões tropicais e temperadas

Geschichte und Theorie der Biologie The Society is a relatively late addition to a series of German societies of science and medicine that began with the “Deutsche Gesellschaft für Geschichte der Medizin und der Naturwissenschaften”, Annals of the History founded in 1910 by Leipzig University‘s Karl Sudhoff (1853-1938), who wrote: “We want to establish a ‘German’ society in order to gather Ger- and Philosophy of Biology man-speaking historians together in our special disciplines so that they form the core of an international society…”. Yet Sudhoff, at this Volume 17 (2012) time of burgeoning academic internationalism, was “quite willing” to accommodate the wishes of a number of founding members and formerly Jahrbuch für “drop the word German in the title of the Society and have it merge Geschichte und Theorie der Biologie with an international society”. Abstract: Clitoria ternatea contained tannins, phlobatannin, carbohydrates, saponins, triterpenoids, phenols, flavanoids, flavonol glycosides, proteins, alkaloids, antharaquinone, anthocyanins, cardiac glycosides, Stigmast- 4-ene-3,6-dione, volatile oils and steroids. The plant showed many pharmacological effects including antioxidant, hypolipidemic, anticancer, anti-inflammatory, analgesic, antipyretic, antidiabetic, CNS, antimicrobial, gastro-intestinal antiparasitic, insecticidal and many other pharmacological effects. Karyotype indicated that all the variants consist of nearly median and sub-median chromosomes. Total and absolute chromosome length were higher in double pink and lower in light blue. The analysis of total form percentage showed that ‛double pink’ possess lowest value and represented as the most advanced type whereas ‛single blue’ possess highest value and represented as the most primitive karyotype. The plant is a perennial, tall and branched with white to blue/pinkish flowers.

The present study evaluates and compares the phenology, pollination biology and breeding systems of Chamaecrista desvauxii (Collad.) Killip. and Clitoria laurifolia Poir. in a coastal plain degraded by sand mining in São Paulo State, Brazil, from January 2006 to May 2008. Flowering and fruiting events occurred in the warm and rainy season. Both species are self-compatible but only C. desvauxii was pollinator-dependent to set fruits. A small group of bees, comprising Eufrisea sp., Eulaema (Apeulaema) cingulata and Bombus morio, accessed the male and female fl oral structures and moved among individuals resulting in cross- pollinations. However, only B. morio was a frequent visitor and an effective pollinator. Although recruitment and survival of population in the study area are high for both species, we observed lower abundance and richness of visitors suggesting the possible lack of pollinators and pollen limitation.
