  • TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Outlines 2019 Motorsports Activities(E
February7, 2019 Toyota Motor Corporation GAZOO Racing Company TOYOTA GAZOO Racing Outlines 2019 Motorsports Activities TOYOTA GAZOO Racing is a racing company positioning motorsports activities as the basis of our quest to create ever-better cars. From products developed through these activities to the establishment of the GR Garage, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing’s motorsports activities have been promoted as a comprehensive method of increasing numbers of car fans. At last month’s North American International Auto Show in Detroit, we unveiled the new “Supra,” which is set to become the first global model in the GR series line-up. The new Supra incorporates the knowledge and know-how that TOYOTA GAZOO Racing has accumulated thus far, and has been developed with the goal of enabling customers to fully experience the joy of driving. We have positioned the new Supra as our flagship model and, by feeding back knowledge gained through motorsports activities into the development of new products, we intend to further expand the GR series line-up. In 2018, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing achieved the long-desired goal of winning the 24 Hours of Le Mans and also secured the WRC manufacturers’ title, demonstrating that the challenges we have embarked on are leading to concrete results. However, we will not rest on our laurels. In order to deliver the anticipation and excitement of driving to a wider audience, we will engage in the motorsports activities listed below in 2019. TOYOTA GAZOO Racing will compete in the 2019-2020 WEC season. (The driver line-up will be announced at a later date.)With team line-ups, we will also compete in the Nürburgring 24 Hours Endurance Race and other races in Japan respectively.

Hugues de Chaunac’s Editorial The upcoming 88th running of the 24 Hours of Le Mans, to be held in September and behind closed doors this year, is shaping up to be a special one for ORECA. Our teams and I are particularly proud to see 20 ORECA 07 chassis entered in the LMP2 class. This record makes us the most represented constructor on the starting grid of the most iconic endurance race in the world! Two Rebellion R-13 are expected in LMP1 as well. The Rebellion Racing team’s stunning victory and double podium finish at the first-ever 24 Hours of Le Mans Virtual has inspired us to raise the bar even higher for the actual race. Since 2012, we have made available to TOYOTA GAZOO Racing the breadth of our experience and client services through operational support, and our mechanics and engineers.

IN TOUCH THE OFFICIAL MAGAZINE OF DUNLOP MOTORSPORT [ www.injection.tv ] LE MANS RACE EDITION Dunlop came away from the Le Mans 24 hours delighted with the performance of its dry and light wet tyres after a difficult race in which the changing condi- tions contributed to the overall result. “We were pretty competitive in all conditions other than full wet conditions,” says Dunlop’s chief tyre technician Matthew Simpson of the LMP2 tyres. “On the slick tyres and the light wet tyres, we had a performance advantage, but in full wet conditions we struggled to get temperature into our compounds. The Essex car had engine trouble so we were never going to do better than we did, but we have to look at the tyre perform- ance in wet conditions and make it better. “The Virgo Ferrari team were very strong and our development construction at the rear allowed us to double stint safely. There was no sign of difficulty in doing so, and there was zero deterioration from the first lap to the last in a double stint, according to the drivers. Le Mans podiums for Essex Perhaps we could have triple stinted, but we didn’t test that before the race and during the race was not the time to try. Porsche and Farnbacher Ferrari “The Creation team had four punctures and three of them were caused by debris. There was not enough left of the tyre to establish the cause of the fourth.” The 2008 edition of the Le Mans 24 hours produced was difficult to drive because sometimes the power was everything from a record breaking qualifying and race there, other times it wasn’t and we couldn’t know what to John Nielsen, Casper Elgaard and Sascha Maassen pace, a record crowd of 258,500 turning out in eager expect.

TOYOTA GAZOO RACING COMPLETES DRIVER LINE-UP Tuesday 28 March 2017 TOYOTA GAZOO Racing can confirm its full driver line-up for the 2017 season, with Yuji Kunimoto and Nicolas Lapierre joining the team for races at Spa-Francorchamps and Le Mans. Yuji and Nicolas will line-up in the #9 TS050 HYBRID alongside lead driver Stéphane Sarrazin in the second and third races of the 2017 FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) season. A former Japanese Formula Three champion, Yuji will continue to compete in single-seaters as he defends his Super Formula crown in 2017 alongside another Super GT campaign. Frenchman Nicolas, 32, is returning to a familiar environment, having raced for the team from 2012 to 2014, earning TOYOTA’s first hybrid WEC victories. Since then, he has established himself as a leading LMP2 driver, having twice won the class at Le Mans whilst winning the WEC drivers’ title in 2016. Today’s announcement completes the full TOYOTA GAZOO Racing line-up for 2017, following January’s confirmation that the #7 car will be driven by Mike Conway, Kamui Kobayashi and José María López, while Sébastien Buemi, Anthony Davidson and Kazuki Nakajima will compete in the #8. Over a period of some twelve years, this model racked up 232 international victories on every continent in the world. This included the World Sportscar Championship, IMSA, Japanese Sportscar Championship, DRM, Interserie, Supercup and Can-Am. No other car of its type was successful for more than one or two seasons at best, but the 956/962 reigned supreme for at www.porscheroadandrace.com least 6-8 years, and was successful at an international level for up to twelve years.
