Summer Internship Program

Dear Sir / Madam,

Our youth is our future. As entities conducting business in the Asian American community, it is our undeniable responsibility to reinvest in the future of this community. And UnitedHealthcare’s Summer Internship Program (SIP) aptly exemplifies this spirit.

On behalf of UnitedHealthcare, over 100 past participating companies and entities, over 400 alumni, and over 1000 of eager applicants, I invite you to join us in this meaningful initiative this year. As you may know, SIP is more than a paid summer internship for participating high school juniors and seniors; it is an opportunity for them to “taste” the real world and a chance for them to learn the virtues of good citizenship.

Over the past 17 years, many students benefited from the program. Some of them are now investment bankers, pharmacists, teachers, marketing professionals, entrepreneurs, and doctors-in-training. But while they may be in different professions, or are still in college pursuing their dreams, they have one thing in common―they all have experienced a defining moment in their lives through SIP, an experience that enabled them not only to step out into the “real” world, but also to step up to the challenges of their assignments.

Students are not the only beneficiaries of SIP. Participating companies also have told us how much they treasure this experience. The program challenged their junior staff to take on supervisory roles, raised awareness of community responsibility in their organization, and brought them into a youthful spirit. In addition, most importantly, the quality work performed by the interns from this highly-selective program.

A few organizations have been participating in this program for more than ten straight years. They understand its value―nurturing the next generation, fulfilling their own business/service needs, and giving back to the community. I sincerely hope you share this vision and will become a part of this legacy.
