131st YEAR - NO. 21 Wednesday, December 2, 2015 TWO SECTIONS - 50¢ PER COPY Christmas fun continues Santa Claus is coming to town… The annual Woodbury Lions Club Christmas Pa- rade will be Saturday, De- cember 5, 2015 beginning at noon. The parade is held every year on the fi rst Sat- urday of December and fea- tures a visit from the jolly old elf himself, St. Nick. Parade Chairman Danny Miller cites the eff orts of the entire community in mak- ing the parade such a huge success. “The entire county turns out for the parade,” says Miller, “either to be in it, or to watch and be immersed in the Christmas spirit. The parade really brings the Christmas spirit to town and reminds us of the true meaning of Christmas. This will also give credit where it is due for all of the hard work that goes into the fl oats, ve- hicles and other entries in the parade. ABSOLUTE ESTATE Saturday, Dec. 5th AUCTION 10:00 AM

Wednesday, November 17th, West Side School held it's award day for their walking club. With over 40 regular weekly participants, the club logged over 450 miles this semester. West Side Walking Eagles will resume their weekly meetings in the spring with the challenge to walk more miles than they did this semester.

As there are many clubs off ered in schools throughout the country, Westside feels this club is one of the most important to a student’s emotion, physical and academic well-being. Walking helps to stimulate a student not only physically but in the classroom as well. Most lift recliners are sold as either two-position, three-position or infi nite-position lift chairs. The two-position chairs recline only to about 45 degrees, which makes them ideal for watching TV or reading. But if your dad wants to nap, he’ll probably want a three-position or infi nite- position chair that reclines almost completely horizontally. Style and features: You’ll also need to choose the type of fabric, color and back style you want the chair to be, or if you want any extra features like built-in heating or massage elements, or a wall hugging chair which is great if you’re tight on space. While there are many companies that make lift recliners – such as Med-Lift, NexIdea, Catnapper, Berkline, Franklin and La-z-boy – Pride Mobility (pridemobility.com) and Golden Technologies (goldentech.com) have been around the longest and have some of the best reputations. With prices typically ranging between $600 and $2,000, you can fi nd lift recliners at many medical supply stores and online. You’ll also be happy to know that Medicare provides some help purchasing a lift chair. They cover the lift mechanism portion, which equates to around $300 towards your purchase. Risedale Chairs If powerlift recliners don’t appeal to your dad, another option to consider is a Risedale chair. These are open-legged, wing back chairs that are diff erent from lift recliners because only the seat cushion lifts instead of the whole chair. Sold by Carex Health Brands (carex.com), the Risedale costs $725. Furniture Adapters If you’re looking for something less expensive, or if your dad doesn’t want diff erent furniture, there are also a number of assistive products that can be added to his current furniture that can help too, like the Stander CouchCane or EZ Stand-N-Go (see stander.com). These products provide support handles that make sitt ing down and standing up a litt le easier, and they both work on couches and recliners. Available online at Amazon.com, the CouchCanes sell for around $110, and the EZ Stand-N-Go costs $129. WORD SEARCH ANSWERS CROSSWORD SUDOKU PAGE 20 CANNON COURIER December 2, 2015 CLASSIFIEDS
