CSM has chosen the district to carry out the summer scolar support

project, as help is needed in this area. CSM Summer School offers such children the opportunity to strengthen their French and English language skills in order to give them the possibility to attend university after finishing with school. At the Moroccan university, courses are taught in French only and automatically bans children from public schools as they do not have sufficient language skills

Marrakech is the capital city of the mid-southwestern region of – Asfi. The red walls of the city, and various buildings constructed in red sandstone during this period, have given the city the nickname of the "Red City" or "Ochre City". A hot semi – arid climate predominates at Marrakesh. Average temperatures range from 12°C in the winter to 32–45°C in the summer. The Jemma el – Fnaa is one of the best-known squares in Africa and is the centre of city activity and trade. Snake charmers, acrobats, magicians, mystics, musicians, monkey trainers, herb sellers, story-tellers, dentists, pickpockets, and entertainers in medieval garb still populate the square. Festivals, both national and Islamic, are celebrated in Marrakesh and throughout the country, and some of them are observed as national holidays. Cultural festivals of note held in Marrakesh include the National Folklore Festival, the Marrakech Festival of Popular Arts, and the Berber Festival. The International Film Festival of Marrakesh aspires to be the North African version of Cannes and showcases over 100 films from around the world annually.

The best way to explore the streets and alleyways is to dive and get lost. There are a few signs dotted around which will point you back to the Dejeema el Fna, and locals will be happy to help you out if you ask – though if they offer to walk with you they may ask for money. This isn’t a problem as you can politely decline, but often they do a good job of showing you something you’d ordinarily miss, so it doesn’t hurt to give them 10 or 20 dirham. Remember when buying things that to bargain is a part of the Moroccan culture. It can be a lot of fun and a really good way to talk to local people and learn more about their way of life. By the end of the week. Volunteers skills, habilities, requirements... Good roads and close proximity makes it easy also to visit places of interest in the region with local transports as buses and taxis. It is easy to find accomodation, restaurants and cafés. Bear in mind to contact CSM central branch (Rabat) so that we can arrange everything with our section in Essaouira, once we know your flight details, so we can give you exact indications and let our partners know when and where they should pick you up.

Essaouira has its own airport, so it would be good if they find good flight

connections to get to it. Otherwise, they can get a flight to any other city and then it will be very easy to arrive by train and then by bus. There are direct bus combinations but no direct trains. Casablanca's airport is easy to reach from most European, North American, and Asian capitols and serves several flights per day.

As for trains, check the ONCF website: http://www.oncf.ma/Pages/Accueil.aspx The bus companies don't have a website, although if you go to the bus station you will find several going to Essaouira. As you should contact the central office first, they will find the best combination for you and arrange the meeting point. The best possibility to reach Essaouira if you don't find a direct flight to it is to fly to Marrakech. The bus from there takes around 2 hours and a half. If you want to have a bus the CTM or Supratours can be recommended - both have comfortable busses, and both have several terminals in Marrakech, easy to find. Hosting Situation The volunteers will live in an appartment located in Rabat city center. They will share rooms and sleep in mats. Although it will be summer, sometimes it gets fresh at night, so its highly recommended for them to bring their own sleeping bag.

We will cook 3 meals per day and we will make shifts to prepare them. Some days some volunteers will cook and others clean and the other way around. We will all help each other with the different tasks.

We need to highlight something that might be a bit difficult for the volunteers, given the past experiences with them. In Morocco, is rare to find the toilets that they are used to have in Europe. In this country, the toilet is normally a typical turkish bath.

Partnership Agreement This project is the result of a partnership of CSM with the Ministry of Youth and Sport.

Reasons to carry out this project The aim of this project is to contribute to the improvement of the center: cleaning, painting and gardening.

What is needed in this project? We have chosen this center for the needs it has. The structure itself its fine, but it doesn't have a good look from outside, as it seems to be old and not taken care off. This is a community based host center whose fundings to improve its appearence are not enough to pay for the staff that would make it nicer for the residents, the cost of the paintings, materials to build up greens spaces and employees would be unaffordable, but we can no doubt make it with the help of volunteers. Having only to buy the materials, we would save half of the costs and the budget allocated for its reconstruction would be enough. The result, with well motivates volunteers, would still be a good quality one.

Apart from being in charge of keeping the center in good conditions, cleaning it, building green spaces and painting the walls, in a creative way when possible, those young people can participate also in various activities. The volunteers have the possibility to get in contact with the local people, take part in the Moroccan habitudes and way of life. The general organization and responsibility of the workcamp lies i n a camp leader who may as well prepare an animation program for the participants, including the proposition of spare-time activities in the surrounding area, although the volunteers can also take initiative on this and propose other activities.

Larache is an important harbour town in the region of Tanger – Tetuan – Al Hoceima, in the North of Morocco. Larache has a Mediterranean climate with heavier rainfall. The summers are moderately hot and sunny - ideal for the city’s beaches - and the winters are wet and cool.

Larache has excellent road connections to other urban centres, being right next to the coastal motorway. Asilah is 33 km north,Tangier 80 km north, Kenitra 110 km south and Rabat 150 km south. Larache has two centres, the old quarters, and the Spanish town, both lying next to each other. It has many examples of interesting architecture, although much is badly maintained, and it is a little visited tourist destination. Across the river, Larache boasts one of Morocco's finest beaches. Larache lies close to the ruins of Lixus, a town first established as a Phoenician trading post, but which now mainly hosts ruins of the Roman era.

Further information about the country will be attached in the National Profile form.

Volunteers skills, habilities, requirements... The volunteers are not required to have any previous experience. We are looking for enthusiastic, positive and respectful people, who are willing to work close with people from other nationalities to learn new skills and develop new relationships in ways that they choose and at a pace they feel comfortable with.

Volunteers Duties - Painting the center, both just as a basic maintenance and also in a creative way. The camp leaders will make a program to paint frescoes but the volunteers can also propose ideas. - Cleaning the center as a part of its maintenance while the children are on holidays. - “Green activities”. The volunteers will help creating green spaces, planting trees or shrubbery for example. - Cooking in teams with other volunteers, both national and international. - Some extra activities will be organized by the association like animation with children.

The volunteers will work five days per week, four hours per day in the morning or the afternoon and get two free days, it can be the weekend or other days, this will depend on the work plan.

Hosting Situation The volunteers will live in the youth center. We have an agreement with the Ministry of Youth and Sport and we are allowed to use the Rooms for the volunteers to stay there. We will set up the place with mats and blankets although it is highly recommended for the volunteers to bring their sleeping bags just in case.

We need to highlight a couple of things that might be a bit difficult for the volunteers, given the past experiences with them. In Morocco, is rare to find the toilets that they are used to have in Europe. In this country, the toilet is normally a typical turkish bath.

Also, as they will be living in the center, there will be no normal shower but a hose that they can use to clean themselves. However, Larache in summer it's very warm, so the water comes out warm anyway.

International volunteers can also ask the national ones to take them to hammam, the public baths. Its a nice experience that they will enjoy, while relaxing and enjoying the hot water and the steam, good for the skin.

Marrakech is the capital city of the mid-southwestern region of Marrakesh – Asfi.

Further information about the country will be attached in the National Profile form.

The aim of this project is to contribute to improve the center where the volunteers will work: a school. The school need to be cleaned, painted, and green spaces need to be added, which will give it a much better appearance so that the children find it in a better state once they come back from holidays. The camp pleader will organize various animation

Essaouira is a tourist friendly town and is known to be a "cool" place. Is a small town, easy to walk around. Good roads and close proximity makes it easy also to visit places of interest in the region with local transports as buses and taxis. It is easy to find accomodation, restaurants and cafés. The medina has an interesting souk. Find beach amusements as wind- and kite surfing, horse- and camel riding....or just walk along the coasts.

Volunteers skills, habilities, requirements... The volunteers are not required to have any previous experience. The center is looking for enthusiastic, positive, patient and respectful people, who are willing to learn and contribute with new skills and develop new relationships in ways that they choose and at a pace they feel comfortable with.

Volunteers Duties The tasks of the volunteer in this project are many and varied. The key focus on the maintenance of the school and everything that goes with it. Cleaning, painting or planting are all regular jobs in the daily routine. No special skills are required; there is always plenty to do for everyone. They will make shifts to prepare the meals 3 times per day.

Essaouira has its own airport, so it would be good if they find good flight connections to get to it.

Someone from CSM will pick you up from the bus station in Essaouira. The info sheet will be send 3 weeks before the project starts

Partnership Agreement This project is the result of a partnership of CSM with the Ministry of Education and with other non-for-profit organizations dealing with children with less opportunities.

Reasons to Carry out this project The aim of this project is to contribute to the improvement of a residence of students with less opportunities. Whilst Casablanca is known as cosmopolitan and vibrant city, poor areas like Sbata BEN MSIK do not have parcs where children can play. In order to prevent them playing in the streets and being opposed to criminality and cars, CSM invented the environmental program where volunteers do gardening work in public parcs. Moreover, they also take care of public schools in terms of gardening and re-construction, to offer children a good environment to learn

What is needed in the project? Apart from being in charge of keeping the school in good conditions, cleaning it, building green spaces and painting the walls, in a creative way when possible, those young people can participate also in various activities. Casablanca, in Arabic Dar El Baida, is the biggest city in Morocco and actually in Magheb region. Is the economic and business center in Morocco. Casablanca is one of the most important ones in Africa, demographically and economically, being one of the largest financial centers in the continent. Its port is one of the largest artificial ports in the world and the primary naval base of the Moroccan Navy.

Completed in 1993 after many years in construction, the Hassan II Mosque is among Africa's largest, with one of the world's tallest minarets to boot. Thanks to its location on the waterfront, and the laser atop the minaret that beams toward Mecca, it’s one of Morocco's most striking buildings. It’s also one of the only mosques that permits non-Muslim visitors into its halls.

Casablanca’s central market is small and manageable. White-walled stalls with green clay tile roofs dotted with foliage make for all the Instagrammable backgrounds you’ll ever need. Vendors sell produce, nuts and dates and, in one stand, argan oil, the traditional Moroccan elixir for most everything. Linger long enough and eventually you will see the vendors line up for the call to prayer, and then join them in a quick tagine lunch, served at outdoor tables.

The Aïn-Diab coast, the seaside annex of the city, is the traditional spot for inhabitants of Casablanca going out for the evening, especially at weekends. Trendy restaurants and popular pubs abound along the seafront. Some of these establishments, with or without seawater swimming pools, are there since the thirties, like an unusual restaurant built on piles.

Volunteers skills, The volunteers are not required to have any previous experience. We are habilities, requirements... looking for enthusiastic, positive and respectful people, who are willing to work close with people from other nationalities to learn new skills and develop new relationships in ways that they choose and at a pace they feel comfortable with.

Volunteers Duties - Painting the youth center, both just as a basic maintenance and also in a creative way. The camp leaders will make a program to paint frescoes but

the volunteers can also propose ideas.

Hosting Situation The volunteers will be accommodating in the centre. We have an agreement with the qualification professionally and hotelier and tourist in CASABLANCA and we are allowed to use the classrooms for the volunteers to stay there.

Also, as they will be living in the center, will be shower they can use to clean themselves.

International volunteers can also ask the national ones to take them to hammam, the public baths. Its a nice experience that they will enjoy, while relaxing and enjoying the hot water and the steam, good for the skin.

Partnership Agreement This project is the result of a partnership of CSM with the Ministry of Youth and Sport.

Reasons to carry out this project We have chosen this school for the needs it has. The structure itself its fine, but it doesn't have a good look from outside, as it seems to be old and not taken care off. This is a community based school whose fundings to improve its appearence are not enough to pay for the staff that would make it nicer for children, the cost of the paintings, materials to build up greens spaces and employees would be unaffordable, but we can no doubt make it with the help of volunteers. Having only to buy the materials, we would save half of the costs and the budget allocated for the reconstruction of the school would be enough. The result, with well motivates volunteers, would still be a good quality one.

What is needed in the Apart from working in the camp, those young people can participate project? also in various activities. The volunteers have the possibility to get in contact with the local people, take part in the Moroccan habitudes and way of life.

Taroudant is a city of Morocco, located in the southern part of the country. It is situated east of on the way to Ouzarzate and Sahara desert. This city is called the "Grandmother of Marrakech" because it looks like a smaller Marrakech with its surrounding ramparts. Today is has the feel of a small fortified market town on a caravan route and almost the whole city is located inside the walls. The city is known for its local crafts, including jewellery and carpets. The old kasbah quarter, originally a fortress built by Moulay Ismail, is today a poor but safe residential area, where winding lanes and low archways lead to tiny squares and dead ends. The governor’s palace, on the eastern side of the kasbah, now forms part of Hôtel Palais Salam. Taroudannt has no ‘European’ quarter or ville nouvelle (new town). Most facilities are found on and around the two central squares, Pl al-Alaouyine (formerly Pl Assarag) and Pl an-Nasr (formerly Pl Talmoqlate). Banks on Pl al-Alaouyine have ATMs, money-changing facilities and visa services. Internet cafes are found along Aves Bir Zaran and Mohammed V.

The volunteers will help creating green spaces, planting trees or shrubbery for example. - Cooking in teams with other volunteers, both national and international. - Some extra activities will be organized:

 Participation in Tabia Imiwassif and Ait Widern Izdar festivals  Excursions to Agadir city

 Participation in the semi maraton de Tislan  Workshops on agriculture: Argan, Amandes..  Excursions to the central souk

Basic tools for the activities described above will be given.

The volunteers will work five days per week, four hours per day in the morning or the afternoon and get the weekend off. Hosting Situation The volunteers will live in a center named “Office of Organizations”, that CSM branch has to make this kind of activities, and it's a contribution of the Minister of Youth.
