Romain Faubert is alone going on 40, has no wife and no children. His profession as a photographer for an online medical dictionary does nothing to alleviate his acute hypochondria, which for too long ago has been the ruling element in his life, reducing him to a bundle of fear and neuroses. The internet elicits compulsive Google searches that start out with little aches and pains and inevitably wind up with results on metastasized cancer. This does little to assuage his phobias about germs and disease. His one and only friend is his general practitioner, Dr. Dimitri Zvenka, who upon first meeting Romain made the fatal error of actually liking him a state of affairs he now bitterly regrets. Romains psychosomatic problems are an endless source of trouble and Dimitri would give anything to get rid of him once and for all, especially now that he has become quite the intrusive patient. Romain often invites himself to sleep over at Dimitri’s house, which is really starting to get on the nerves of the doctor’s wife. However, Dr. Zvenka thinks hes found a remedy, one that will usher Romain Faubert out the door forever help him find the woman of his dreams. He invites him to parties, signs him up for online dating, gets him to work out and even coaches him on his seduction techniques and ways to interact with women. But finding that rare jewel, someone who can tolerate his idiosyncrasies and who, out of love, will help him overcome his hypochondria, turns out to be more of a challenge than it first seemed. Falling pregnant as a teenager in Ireland in 1952, Philomena Lee was sent to the convent of Roscrea to be looked after as a “fallen woman”. When her baby was only a toddler, he was taken away by the nuns for adoption in America. Philomena spent the next fifty years searching for him in vain. Then she met Martin Sixsmith, a world-weary journalist as cynical as Philomena was trusting. Together they set off for America on a journey that would not only reveal the extraordinary story of Philomena’s son, but also create an unexpectedly close bond between Philomena and Martin. It is a compelling narrative of human love and loss that ultimately celebrates life. Coogan has described the film as “A comic tragedy or a tragic comedy. It’s about two very different people, at different stages of their lives, who help each other and show that there is laughter even in the darkest places.” The Lost Child Of Philomena Lee was published in 2009; it acted as a catalyst for thousands of adopted Irish children and their ‘shamed’ mothers to come forward and tell their stories. Many are still searching for their lost families. Published anonymously in 1740 as La Jeune Américaine et les contes marins, it paints a portrait of Belle, a joyful and touching young girl who falls in love with the Beast, a cursed creature in search of love and redemption. In 1760, a condensed children’s version was published. It was from this version that Jean Cocteau and then Walt Disney drew their famous adaptations. Overshadowed, the original version by Madame de Villeneuve has never been adapted for the screen... until now! BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is the story of a family going through a crisis, having lost all of its possessions when the father was ruined. The encounter - at first terrifying, but then voluptuous - with this mythical Beast provides our characters with an opportunity to get back on their feet.

THE STRONGHOLD Directed by Cédric Jimenez INTERNATIONAL MARKETING INTERNATIONAL PUBLICITY Alba OHRESSER Margaux AUDOUIN [email protected] [email protected] 1 SYNOPSIS Marseille’s north suburbs hold the record of France’s highest crime rate. Greg, Yass and Antoine’s police brigade faces strong pressure from their bosses to improve their arrest and drug seizure stats. In this high-risk environment, where the law of the jungle reigns, it can often be hard to say who’s the hunter and who’s the prey. When assigned a high-profile operation, the team engages in a mission where moral and professional boundaries are pushed to their breaking point. 2 INTERVIEW WITH CEDRIC JIMENEZ What inspired you to make this film? In 2012, the scandal of the BAC [Anti-Crime Brigade] Nord affair broke out all over the press. It was difficult to escape it, especially for me being from Marseille. I Quickly became interested in it, especially since I know the northern neighbourhoods well having grown up there. There was such a media show that I felt the need to know what had happened. How far had these cops taken the law into their own hands? But for that, it was necessary to have access to the police and to the files. That was obviously impossible. When we decided to work together, me and Hugo [Sélignac], my producer, I always had this affair in mind. It was then that he said to me, “Wait, I know someone in Marseille who could introduce us to the real cops involved.” And that’s what happened.

For Tony, a difficult process of healing is in front of her, physical work which may finally set her free. September 19, 2019 COLCOA French Film Festival Monday, September 23 – Saturday, September 28 DGA in Hollywood $$ This film festival showcases the latest work from France. It only looks like it the Coca Cola Film Festival if you read it too fast. September 3, 2019 Critic's Picks: A September To-Do List for Film Buffs in L.A Alain Delon in 'Purple Moon' (1960) A classic lesbian drama, French noirs starring Alain Delon and Jean Gabin and a series of matinees devoted to Katharine Hepburn are among the plentiful vintage and classic options for SoCal film buffs this month. OLIVIA AT THE LAEMMLE ROYAL | 11523 Santa Monica Blvd. Already underway and screening daily through Sept. 5 at the Laemmle Royal is a new digital restoration of Jacqueline Audry’s trailblazing 1951 feature Olivia, one of the first films, French or otherwise, to deal with female homosexuality. Set in a 19th-century Parisian finishing school for girls, the film depicts the struggle between two head mistresses (Edwige Feuillere and Simone Simon) for the affection of their students, and how one girl’s (Marie-Claire Olivia) romantic urges stir jealousy in the house. Audry, one of the key female filmmakers of post-World War II France, stages this feverish chamber drama (based on a novel by the English writer Dorothy Bussy) with a delicate yet incisive touch, allowing the story’s implicit sensuality to simmer ominously without boiling over into undue hysterics. Lesbian dramas would soon become more explicit, but few have matched Olivia’s unique combination of elegance and eroticism.
