Michale Graves Biography Michale Graves Biography For nearly two decades Michale Graves has been entertaining, influencing and informing a growing audience world-wide. His journey as an artist has ignited a passion. A passion that motivates his desire to reach out, create a dialogue, and build a platform to discuss and interact on pop-culture, people, and the world around us. Driven by the pursuit of quality and harmony in everything that he is involved in, Michale travels the world and looks into the eyes and hearts of tens of thousands of fans. While entertainment is at the heart of who he is as a performer, Graves is also a social and pop-culture media thought leader who has hosted, as well as appeared, on numerous broadcast and print properties, including The Andrew Wilkow Show, The Sean Hannity Show, Adam Vs The Man, The Howard Stern Show, Truth Frequency Radio, Where Monsters Dwell, The Guardian, The New York Times and Rolling Stone Magazine. Since 2016, Michale Graves has toured and recorded relentlessly with his band in support of the albums When Worlds Collide and The World Turned Upside Down. He’s also continues touring as a solo acoustic production in support of the albums Bedlam (2016) and Backroads (2017). Michale attributes his vocal capabilities and strength that sets him apart from all others in the business to his time studying under Don Lawrence in New York City. In 2012, Michale joined forces with Mark Allen Stuart and as President & Managing Director of the Music Group of Hydraulic Entertainment. Over 20 album releases have occurred since that time with the videos, music and collaborations building an enormous catalogue of sound and sights. Michale Graves kicked in the door of the music scene in 1995 as the lead singer and songwriter of one of the most legendary punk rock bands of all time, The Misfits. The third of three videos produced, his song "Scream" was directed by George A. Romero, the man who also directed Night of The Living Dead. Michale appeared in Romero's film Bruiser performing "Fiend Without a Face" which was also penned by Graves specifically for Romero's film. Michale has made appearances on Ted Turner’s WCW Monday Nitro, Thursday Thunder and a pair of pay-per-view matches alongside his friend, Vampiro. In 2003, he embarked on a new project called ‘Gotham Rd’. The band played hundreds of raucous dates on the U.S. Club circuit. And then in 2004 Michale helped found a website called Conservativepunk.com which created a firestorm of controversy. Michale was Senior Producer and Program Manager with Arkansas’ first 24/7 internet television station AR1.TV as well as hosting his own show dubbed “The Michale Graves Show” which blended pop culture, political discussion and music into one stream of consciousness as he began with his ground breaking radio show “Radio Deadly/The Michale Graves Show”. 2006 also saw the release of Michale's sophomore solo album, Return To Earth. Upon completion of that associated tour, Michale created a short film entitled The Blackness and The Forest that told the story of his "Almost Home Campaign" and the advocacy work he did for The West Memphis Three. Partnering with SOS Records in 2007, Michale released Illusions featuring five songs he wrote along with Damien Echols, who at the time was being held in solitary confinement on Arkansas death row. Damien Echols has since been released from prison. A national acoustic tour soon followed to rave reviews. Michale solidfied his unique ability to command an audience with only his voice, guitar, stories and songs. Expanding upon his acting career, Michale appeared in the feature film Perkins 14 as Eric Ross directed by Craig Singer as part of Horrorfest’s 8 Films To Die For. Michale also recorded new songs and a video, written and inspired by his filming experience on location in Romania including a collaboration with one of the film’s stars Patrick O'Kane. Those songs, along with live tracks from the acoustic Illusions tour, were released in October, 2008. Graves and Singer would later collaborate again and create a music video for a unique version of the song “No Rain” by Blind Melon. After heading home from Romania, Michale teamed up with Marky Ramone of The Ramones and played together in a band called Blitzkrieg. They toured the world playing all the best classic songs that led up to the induction of The Ramones into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. The lineup also garnered a spot at Rock In Rio. Michale penned two singles for the project, "When We Were Angels" and "If and When". An animated video was produced for “Angels" and all proceeds from “Angels” benefits The Wounded Warrior Fund. In 2018 Michale marked his solo return to Europe with his highly acclaimed “Beginning of the End Tour.” When the year is complete he will have toured in 23 countries and played over 150 shows. Currently on ‘The Course Of Empire Tour’ he continues to bring himself and his artistry to his fans in a worldwide capacity. He continues to expand his brand to include products that reflect his lifestyle and activities. Always seeking ways to promote well being and uplift the individual through art and entertainment Michale Graves leads an innovative charge forward. .

  • The Long History of Indigenous Rock, Metal, and Punk
UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA Los Angeles Not All Killed by John Wayne: The Long History of Indigenous Rock, Metal, and Punk 1940s to the Present A thesis submitted in partial satisfaction of the requirements for the degree Master of Arts in American Indian Studies by Kristen Le Amber Martinez 2019 © Copyright by Kristen Le Amber Martinez 2019 ABSTRACT OF THESIS Not All Killed by John Wayne: Indigenous Rock ‘n’ Roll, Metal, and Punk History 1940s to the Present by Kristen Le Amber Martinez Master of Arts in American Indian Studies University of California Los Angeles, 2019 Professor Maylei Blackwell, Chair In looking at the contribution of Indigenous punk and hard rock bands, there has been a long history of punk that started in Northern Arizona, as well as a current diverse scene in the Southwest ranging from punk, ska, metal, doom, sludge, blues, and black metal. Diné, Apache, Hopi, Pueblo, Gila, Yaqui, and O’odham bands are currently creating vast punk and metal music scenes. In this thesis, I argue that Native punk is not just a cultural movement, but a form of survivance. Bands utilize punk and their stories as a conduit to counteract issues of victimhood as well as challenge imposed mechanisms of settler colonialism, racism, misogyny, homophobia, notions of being fixed in the past, as well as bringing awareness to genocide and missing and murdered Indigenous women. Through D.I.Y. and space making, bands are writing music which ii resonates with them, and are utilizing their own venues, promotions, zines, unique fashion, and lyrics to tell their stories.

  • Blind Joe North Dakota's Outlaw Country Son I Am a 32-Year-Old Totally Blind Singer/Songwriter Born and Raised in and Around
Blind Joe North Dakota's Outlaw Country Son I am a 32-year-old totally blind singer/songwriter born and raised in and around the Fargo North Dakota area. My music is difficult to classify because I blend country, punk, rock, soul and blues. I like to call it "real" music 'cause I play and sing from the heart. Most people, however, just call it good drinkin music. I believe that good music always comes straight from your heart and soul! The rowdy non-stop Country Soul that is Blind Joe is as infectious as a night of Jack Daniels and a few Hank Williams songs on the jukebox. Coming from nowhere to being the most successful musician in the Fargo-Moorhead area in a little over 2 years, Blind Joe has shared the stage with numerous top local and regional acts over the past few years, as well as national recording artists such as David Allan Coe, Craig Morgan, Bret Michaels of Poison, Jackyl, The Kentucky Headhunters, Michale Graves of the Misfits, Joe Buck of Hank III's band, John Lee Hooker Jr., John Hiatt and many, many more. Recording an album a year for the past three years, 'People Like Me,' and 'Soul Singin’ Son of a Bitch,' have already sold well over 4,000 copies. Touring non-stop all over the region, Blind has played to thousands in the past two and a half years, from bars to theatres to arenas, sold massive amounts of Blind Joe merch and become a staple in the music community. Gearing up for non-stop shows throughout the fall and winter months in North Dakota and a Southern tour this spring, Blind Joe is tapping his way quickly into the hearts and minds of people all over the United States.

It would have probably also not been possible had the Guardia Civil caught him smuggling nuts, coffee, and different essential goods through the Galicia-Portugal border in Tamaguelos (Ourense) in the years following the Civil War. If it wasn’t for my grandmother, Clotilde, who raised nine children and moved to the Basque Country with Antonio to work there for years, this work would have never happened.
