The Governor has already authorized the state funding for this project. Since the city owns the zoo, it will be the applicant for the state funds. The match for the state funding will come in the form of federal money for the planned realignment of West 33th Street in front of the zoo's entrance. The money will be used to renovate existing exhibit areas and will provide new facilities for the new Asian one.
