Lived in veterans'-assisted hon!\tng in Rrie before his family moved to the house on Colony Drive where his mother, Laura, still resides today. *Tom Ridge is married to the former Michele Moore, the Executive Director of the Erie County Library System. They have two children, Lesley, age 8, and Tommy, age 7. *Received an academic scholarship to Harvard and gratluatt;d with honors and a degree in government studies inl967. • Drnfit:d and served in the U.S. Anny as an infantry staff serge~nt hetween 1969 and 1970. Ridge was decorated for bravery with the Bronze Star for Valor, The Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry and the Combat Intantry .liadgc. *Tom Ridge was the first enlisted Vietnam veteran to serve in the U.S. House of .Kepresematives. *Graduated with a law degree from Dickinson Law ~chool in 1972. *Served as an Erie County Assistant District Attorney before first elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 1982. * Currently represents the 21st congressional district, which encompasses Mercer, Erit:, Crawford and Butler counties, a di$trict where Democrats outnumber Republicans by approximately 30,000 registered voters. Recognized for garnering votes from both Republican and Democratic hous~hulds , he has won reelection on five occasions by overwhelming margins as great as 81 percent of the vote. P.O .
