The injury bug was passed around throughout many of the Bearcats roster last year, as many were sidelined due to an injury or played with Lindenwood an injury. The team began last season with a difficult opponent, Division 3-3 (3-0 GLVC) I Houston Baptist. Three conference games were decied by 4 points or Missouri S&T less, William Jewell (10-14), McKendree (23-26), and Quincy (21-24). 5-1 (2-0 GLVC) Due to the injuries the Bearcats suffered early in the fall, quite a few young guys were able to see playing time and prepare for the upcoming Truman State 5-1 (2-1 GLVC) season. Brey Cook joins the Bearcat coaching squad, coming from the Uni- Southwest Baptist versity of Arkansas. As a player, Cook was a four year starter and two 3-3 (1-2 GLVC) year captain for the Razorbacks. He will bring loads of knowledge to the McKendree offensive linemen and help orchestrate the run game. On the offensive 2-4 (0-2 GLVC) side of the ball, Eric Knight returns for his sophomore season after hav- Quincy ing a great redshirt freshman campaign with his 768 rushing yards and 2-4 (0-3 GLVC) 8 touchdowns, as well as 187 receiving yards and a touchdown. Offen- sive linemen Brayden Byrd and Ryan Becker graduated in the spring, but William Jewell 1-5 (0-4 GLVC) Connor LeClair has really stepped up, leading vocally and gaining respect from the other players. The coaches have also highly recruited offensive linemen and receivers, filling those spots well. Defensively, Cory Hanger returns from injury after missing a majority Series vs Quincy of 2018. De’shawn Tone returns for his senior season, also having faced SBU leads all-time series 5-2 injury issues last year. In his 6 games played, he collected 44 total tack- les including 6 sacks and 4 forced fumbles. Leading the Hawks is Gary Bass, entering his third season 2001 Win 19-0 Bolivar under head coaching helm. Last season, Bass led Quincy to a 4-9 record 2000 Win 37-0 Bolivar and coached 10 players to All-GLVC honors. In his first season as head coach, the Hawks finished 3-8, with another 10 All-GLVC honors. Quincy has had a very similar schedule to SBU, already having played Quincy Quick Facts Central State, Kentucky Wesleyan, Truman State, and Indianapolis.
