5-DAY COURSE ON TIBETAN MEDICINE IN ENGLISH At Men-Tsee-Khang Cultural Centre Leh-Ladakh (August 22 to 26, 2016)

Historically, Men-Tsee-Khang was established in 1916 by the in , Tibet.On March 23, 1961, Men- Tsee-Khang, Tibetan Medical and Astro. Institute was re-established by His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama in Dharamsala, India. The primary objective of Tibetan Medical &Astro. Institute is to preserve, promote and revive the traditional system of Tibetan medicine (Sowa- Rigpa) and astro-science practiced for thousands of years in Tibet. Since the inception of Tibetan Medical & Astro Institute on March 23rd 1961, this body has grown into a leading academic institution for revival and preservation of Tibetan medicine and Tibetan Astrology and Astronomy.

The year 2016 will be a watershed year in the history of Men-Tsee-Khang. We celebrate 100 years of establishing Men- Tsee-Khang by the Great 13th Dalai Lama in Lhasa, Tibet, 55 years of re-establishing Men-Tsee-Khang by the Great 14th Dalai Lams in Dharamsala, India, and 320 years of establishing the Medical College in Lhasa, Tibet by the Great 5th Dalai Lama.

Men-Tsee-Khang Cultural Centre, Leh was set up in 2003 with the view of implementing the His Holiness’s vision of helping the people of Himalayan states who have strong religious and cultural bond with Tibet for many centuries and felt that the commencement of Cultural Centre would be of great value in the region.

5- DAY COURSE: The main aim is to construct a foundation on Tibetan Medicine and to open a door for further studies on Tibetan Medicine. All sentient beings want happiness and not suffering. Tibetan medicine and astro-science enjoy a long history and are effective in treating both mental and physical disorders. Both sciences enjoy a strong backbone of Buddhist philosophy thoughts of interdependence and non-violence. Therefore Men-Tsee-Khang Cultural Centre initiates this kind of activities where people from all corners of the world could come together and learn an alternate system of healing on a common platform. Course will be conducted by expert lecturers from Men-Tsee-Khang's Medical &Astro. College, Dharamsala.
