INTRO: what I am about to tell you BODY: TELL IT. END: summarize what I just told you. The invisible threads that form identity politics are especially messy today. Through the lens of a transnational/intersectional/feminist sensibility, my thesis paper and body of work weaves influences from both visual and music culture. Socio-political agency is explored through reconfiguration. Both thesis and artwork are informed by the organizational principles of collage logic - specifically through the contrast in texture and rhythm, and employing the notion of the monster as a harmony of incongruence. Findings from a review of the literature regarding previous studies of the process of citizen participation were used to guide a qualitative research project in North Carolina. A case study approach was employed to facilitate an in-depth exploration of the meanings and perceptions of legislative members of the North Carolina General Assembly and Executive Directors of health policy advocacy organizations in North Carolina. Using a non-probability sampling procedure, study participants of the legislative case type were purposefully selected based upon membership in legislative committees and sponsorship of particular legislation, and recruited on a volunteer basis. Study participants of the other case type – Directors of health policy organizations and health programs – were recruited by referral.

University of Central Florida, 2011 A thesis submitted in partial fulfillment of the requirements for the degree of Master of Arts in the Department of English in the College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Central Florida Orlando, Florida Spring Term 2015 ABSTRACT This thesis examines contemporary folk music from no earlier than 2006, specifically music of the bands The Decemberists, Fleet Foxes, and Bon Iver. Providing a close reading of select songs, I prove that modern music is seeing a revival in the Romantic Era and Transcendentalist ideals and philosophy. The works and philosophy of Samuel Taylor Coleridge (1772-1834), William Wordsworth (1770-1850), John Keats (1795-1821), as well as Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862), Ralph Waldo Emerson (1803-1882), among others and their critics are all considered for points of comparison to the modern lyrics.

The team was selected by Mrs. Biediger, and some volunteered. The team can only have 4 students. Mrs. Biediger selected them from her UIL team. There were additional students who went to the November practice round. Eight students participated in the practice meet last fall. (Continued on next page) (Math Counts, continued from previous page) The Nueces Chapter of the Texas Society of Professional Engineers and some local companies sponsor the event each year to challenge 6th-8th grade students with engineering-type problem solving. The competition consists of several different tests and a team test, like the UIL Math competitions. Currently they provide a stipend of up to $500 each competition year to up to two teachers per school for attendance at a free workshop in the fall with continuing education credits ($100), the practice ($200) and the competition ($200).
