Mangalore, May 30: A large number of Mata Amritanandamayi's devotees took up brooms, spades and baskets yet again and went on a cleanliness drive near the Hampankatta circle on Sunday morning.

A similar campaign was conducted on May 3 by a many foreign devotees around the central market, while they were on a visit to the city.

On Sunday, the local devotees, with gloves on, went around Hampankatta and picked up litter and spruced up the whole locality. They were also joined by some civic staff.

However, many citizens wondered, if, given the littering habits of passersby, the place would not turn back to its old look again by evening.
