BOTSWANA NATIONAL ASSEMBLY O R D E R P A P E R (WEDNESDAY 19TH AUGUST, 2020) QUESTIONS 1. MR. M. I. MOSWAANE, MP. (FRANCISTOWN WEST): To ask the Minister (387) for Presidential Affairs, Governance and Public Administration: (i) why the two positions of Deputy Director-BOPA and Deputy Director-Publications at Department of Information Services have not been filled; (ii) how long the two posts have been vacant; (iii) whether people are sometimes appointed on an acting basis and if so, to state the periods; and (iv) whether the two vacancies do not affect some of the operational and administrative functions of the Department. 2. MR. T. LETSHOLO, MP. (KANYE NORTH): To ask the Minister of Tertiary (388) Education, Research, Science and Technology what role the University of Botswana (UB) and Botswana International University of Science and Technology (BIUST) are playing to support and enable business start-ups; and to also state: (i) how many start-ups each of the education institutions collaborated with annually over the last three (3) years to create new products and services; (ii) the products and services referred to in (i) above; and (iii) the value associated with those products and services. 3. MR. O. RAMOGAPI, MP. (PALAPYE): To ask the Minister of Youth (389) Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development if he is aware that Palapye has a football team competing in the National Premier League, but it is being financially challenged by having to travel long distances to honour fixtures; and if so, to state: (i) what he is doing to assist this team; and (ii) why Palapye Constituency was not considered for construction of a stadium when Government constructed constituency stadiums in different parts of Botswana taking into consideration that Palapye Administrative Authority services twenty-eight (28) villages. 1 4. MR. M. M. PULE, MP. (MOCHUDI EAST): To ask the Minister of Health (390) and Wellness if he is aware that there are delays in bookings of patients for orthopedists services in Mahalapye; if so, what he is doing to ensure that patients are assisted promptly. 5. MR. M. S. MOLEBATSI, MP. (MMADINARE): To ask the Minister of (391) Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism to update this Honourable House on: (i) what dates the Tourism Master Plans for Letsibogo and Dikgatlhong Dams were finalised respectively; (ii) what the main drivers of the two Master Plan frameworks are; (iii) how the framework of the Master Plan was communicated and to whom and when; and (iv) how the execution of the frameworks are monitored and evaluated. 6. MR. T. B. LUCAS, MP. (BOBONONG): To ask the Minister of (392) Environment, Natural Resources Conservation and Tourism to update this Honourable House: (i) on the performance of Mapanda Trust in the Bobirwa Sub- District; (ii) on the roles and mandates of the Department of Tourism and the Botswana Tourism Organisation in respect of the project; and (iii) on the plans to expand the project if any; and if so, how. QUESTION WITHOUT NOTICE 7. MR. B. MATHOOTHE, MP. (SEROWE NORTH): To ask the Minister of (405) Youth Empowerment, Sport and Culture Development to state: (i) the amount that the Ministry has dispersed to assist athletes and artists during COVID-19; (ii) the amounts per athlete or artists per discipline/code who benefitted; (iii) the criteria used to determine the amounts; and (iv) the number of requests for assistance rejected. 2 NOTICE OF MOTIONS AND ORDERS OF THE DAY MOTION APPROVAL OF THE MID TERM REVIEW OF NATIONAL DEVELOPMENT PLAN 11: 2017/2018 – 2022/2023 “That this Honourable House resolves that the Mid Term Review of National Development Plan 11: 2017/2018 – 2022/2023 be approved.” (Minister of Finance and Economic Development) (Resumed Debate) 3 .
