Ihre AfD-Delegation informiert über die Arbeit im EU-Parlament Ausgabe #2 / September 2020 2 Liebe Leser, in den vergangenen Wochen ist in Brüssel trotz – oder gerade wegen? - der parlamentari- schen Sommerpause viel passiert. Mitten in der Urlaubszeit leitete die EU-Kommission ei- nen neuen Migrationspakt in die Wege. Um demokratischen Anschein zu wahren, konnten die Bürger auf einer gut versteckten Webseite der Kommission vier Wochen lang ihre Mei- nung hierzu kundtun. Davon machten bis vier Tage vor Einsendeschluss europaweit noch nicht einmal einhundert Menschen Gebrauch. Alles geschah weitestgehend unter Aus- schluss der Öffentlichkeit, bis wir auf diese Pläne aufmerksam wurden, eine kleine Kam- pagne starteten, und auch die anderen patriotischen Parteien hierfür sensibilisierten. In kürzester Zeit erreichten wir hunderttausende Menschen, knapp 2.000 überwiegend ablehnende Bürgerzuschriften gingen bei der Kommission ein – die Eurokraten haben nun viel Lesestoff. Was es mit dem neuen Migrationspakt auf sich hat, lesen Sie in dieser zwei- ten Ausgabe unseres „Blicks auf Brüssel“. Weitere Themen sind die Rede zur „Lage der Europäischen Union“ von Kommissionspräsi- dentin Ursula von der Leyen, die unser Delegationsleiter Prof. Dr. Jörg Meuthen ordentlich zerpflückt hat. POPREBEL Working Paper series POPREBEL (Populist rebellion against modernity in 21st-century Eastern Europe: neo-traditionalism and neo-feudalism) is a large Horizon 2020-funded research project on the rise of populism in Central and Eastern Europe. The aim of the project is to describe the phenomenon, create a typology of its various manifes- tations, reconstruct trajectories of its growth and decline, investigate its causes, interpret its meanings, diagnose its consequences and propose policy solutions. This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 re- search and innovation programme under grant agreement No 822682. The POPREBEL consortium comprises six universities – UCL (co-ordinating insti- tution), University of Belgrade, Charles University, Corvinus University of Buda- pest, Jagiellonian University and University of Tartu – and Edgeryders, a social enterprise. Question for oral answer O-000038/2021 to the Commission Rule 136 Sylvia Limmer, Jaak Madison, Roman Haider, Simona Baldassarre, Luisa Regimenti on behalf of the ID Group Subject: Vaccination of children against COVID‑19 in the light of Article 2 of the Treaty on European Union On Friday 28 May 2021, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) approved the BioNTech/Pfizer COVID‑19 vaccine for children aged 12 to 15. Several Member States had, however, already cleared the way for the vaccination of children in advance of the EMA’s decision. Some experts have doubts about the vaccination of children, especially with regard to the available data on risk compared to the benefits of protection for children, given that most data suggests that they very rarely get severely ill. Some experts suggest that vaccination for children would only be advisable if they have severe pre- existing conditions. 1. Does the Commission agree with the view that the administration of vaccines to children needs to be restricted in the light of Article 2 of the Treaty on European Union, especially given that the ability of children to give consent is limited and all vaccines approved by the EMA merely enjoy conditional marketing authorisation (based on a substantially reduced database compared to the one normally required for vaccine licencing, the assumption being that the benefits outweigh the risks, and that much more comprehensive clinical data then have to be provided in order to maintain the conditional authorisation and for this authorisation to be converted into a standard marketing authorisation in the future)? 2.
