Einem der ehrwürdigsten Gitarristen, die den Sound des Hard Rock prägten, dem viel zu früh verstorbenen, großartigen Randy Rhoads, wird mit der Veröffentlichung von IMMORTAL RANDY RHOADS – THE ULTIMATE TRIBUT am 27. Februar 2015 auf einzigartige Weise der Tribut erwiesen. Es ist eine Sammlung von 11 Songs, an deren Komposition Randy beteiligt war. IMMORTAL RANDY RHOADS – THE ULTIMATE TRIBUTE wurde von 20 populären zeitgenössischen Künstlern eingespielt, darunter seine alten Freunde und Weggefährten Rudy Sarzo und Frank Banali, sein Bruder Kelle Rhoads, sowie weitere namhafte Musiker, wie Serj Tankiann, Tom Morello, Vinny Appice, Tim (Ripper) Owens, Chuck Billy, Alexi Laiho, George Lynch, Gus G., Bruce Kulick, Doug Aldrich, Dweezil Zappa und andere. Produziert und zusammengestellt wurde das Album von Grammy‐Preisträger, Gitarrist und Produzent Bob Kulick in seinem eigenen Tonstudio. Randy Rhoads war ein Liebhaber klassischer Musik und begann seine ersten Schritte in Richtung Rock’n’Roll mit 16 Jahren, als er die Band “Little Women” gründete, aus der einige Zeit später Quiet Riot werden sollte. Ins Rampenlicht wurde der damals noch recht unbekannte Gitarrist gehoben, als Ozzy Osbourne ihn 1979 für seine zukünftige OZZY OSBOURNE Solo‐Band auswählte. Daraufhin war Rhoads an der Komposition von zwei der bekanntesten Alben der Hard Rock‐Geschichte beteiligt: „Blizzard Of Oz“ und „Diary Of A Madman“ und wurde bekannt für sein virtuoses Spie und sein ausgefeiltes Songwriting. Berühmt für die Art, in der er klassische Elemente mit technisch anspruchsvollem Hard Rock verband, wurde er einer der einflussreichsten Leadgitarristen des Hard Rock / Heavy Metal. Als er am 19. März 1982 bei einem Flugzeugunglück starb, war Randy Rhoads erst 25 Jahre alt. Die Legende von seiner Arbeit, seinem Ethos und seinem andauernden Einfluss auf eine ganz neue Generation von Gitarristen ist nie verblasst. Zusammen mit der CD IMMORTAL RANDY RHOADS – THE ULTIMATE TRIBUTE ist eine Bonus DVD erhältlich, die interessante Interviews Bob Kulicks mit einigen der involvierten Musikern und Weggefährten Randys führt, und über die Musonia School of Music in North Hollywood / CA berichtet, die von Randys Mutter gegründet und von seinem Bruder Kelle Rhoads geführt wird. .

The central theme is an analysis of the conflicting masculinities of glam metal and grunge music, and how these gender roles are developed and reproduced. I will also demonstrate how, although the idealized authentic subculture is positioned in opposition to the mainstream, it does not in actuality exist outside of the system of commercialism. The problematic nature of this idealization will be examined with regard to the layers of complexity involved in popular rock music genre evolution, involving the inevitable progression from a subculture to the mainstream that occurred with both glam metal and grunge. Publicado por: Joaquín Borges-Triana Después de tres años de la salida al mercado del disco titulado Good to be bad, el vocalista David Coverdale y su tropa de Whitesnake vuelven a la carga en el presente 2011. El pasado 25 de marzo fue puesto en circulación a nivel mundial el fonograma denominado Forevermore, decimoprimero en la carrera de esta vieja agrupación británica que, pese al tiempo transcurrido desde su aparición y a los muchos cambios de alineación en su nómina, persiste en reinventarse una y otra vez. Desde que uno empieza a escuchar los 14 temas recogidos en el CD, se da cuenta de que este es un material con profundo sabor retro, pletórico en reminiscencias de álbumes grabados por el ensemble entre fines de los 70 y la década de los 80. En tal sentido, cabe afirmar que estamos ante un puñado de composiciones e interpretaciones signadas por un sonido gordo y cortante, con una base rítmica bien empastada. Asimismo, es evidente que Coverdale y sus compañeros de grupo se propusieron al enfrentarse a la producción de este nuevo fonograma, hacer un retorno a lo que pudiera definirse como una propuesta del más clásico rock y blues metalero. Con una actual nómina en la que acompañan al vocalista David Coverdale los guitarristas Doug Aldrich y Reb Beach, así como el baterista Brian Tichy, Michael Devin en el bajo y el teclista Brian Ruedy, Forevermore se inicia con Steal your heart away, corte cuya introducción me lleva a evocar los tiempos ya lejanos de Love Hunter, uno de los trabajos discográficos de la banda que más he disfrutado personalmente, junto al afamado 1987.

It is only the fourth signature amplifier that we have produced and I feel it is a great addition to this select range. I first met Randy when he came to the factory in January 1980. He had not long ago joined Ozzy Osbourne and they were working on their first album. He came here knowing exactly what he was looking for, he just needed to find the amplifier that was going to be capable of delivering the power, the tone, and the reliability that he wanted, but was also in keeping with the image that he was to be recognised by. Randy almost found everything he was searching for in a standard 1959 head, but the tone was not quite right. He spent some time with my Service Manager, explaining the slight difference he was looking for, and after a few trials we were able to fit a modification which made the subtle change to the standard tone of the 1959. Randy left the factory to proudly stand in front of his white Marshall stack for all of his hugely successful, but sadly too brief career with Ozzy Osbourne. In this time the legendary guitarist could be seen by thousands of fans, performing in front of his Marshall stack – a sight to behold and a triumphant assault on the ears. Our design team have spent many hours investigating the original Randy Rhoads amplifier, speaking to the Randy Rhoads family, talking to people who knew Randy and heard him play, and talking to the Service Manager who was at the factory when Randy came in and made the modification to the amplifier.

    Livereview: Whitesnake - Kharma 16. November 2008, Zürich - Schützenhaus Albisgüetli By Rockslave Es gab nicht wenige Leute, die ob dem neuen Studio-Album «Good To Be Bad» ziemlich baff waren, respektive der weissen Schlange so ein Comeback kaum zugetraut hätten. Doch 2008, dem mit Abstand besten Jahr in Sachen Rock und Metal seit Langem, passt es einfach wie die Faust aufs Auge, dass auch Whitesnake hier mit von der Partie sind. Der geneigte Fan wurde live wie auch von der Tonträgerseite her regelrecht verwöhnt und es bleibt zu hoffen, dass dieser Zustand noch möglichst lange anhalten wird. Coverdale & Co. waren das letzte Mal im Juni 2006 im Zürcher Volkshaus zu Gast und lieferten dort einen starken Auftritt ab, der unter anderem von der idealen Location profitieren konnte. Dieses Detail war heute Abend auch im Fokus, denn das schmuck und weihnächtlich beleuchtete Schützenhaus machte in der Vergangenheit eher Schlagzeilen in Zusammen- hang mit Ex-Bundesrat Christoph Blocher denn als Austragungsort für (Rock-) Konzerte. Man durfte also ge- spannt sein! Kharma Den Ost-Schweizer Rock-Fünfer sah ich dieses Jahr nach Huttwil und Lenzburg nun bereits zum dritten Mal! Während der Auftritt am «Rock- sound Festival» ganz ordentlich geriet, harzte es in Lenzburg etwas, vorab wegen der Technik. Das schien hier in Zürich zum Glück kein Thema zu sein. So eröffneten Kharma den Konzertabend vor einer be- reits stattlichen Anzahl Fans, was mitunter auch zu einem Teil an den kalten Aussentemperaturen gelegen haben dürfte. Sei's drum..., auf je- den Fall umso besser für den heutigen Support, der kraftvoll loslegte und das Publikum schon bald auf seine Seite ziehen konnte.
