The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and its members use sport as a vehicle for character development and administer programs and championships in proper balance with the overall educational experience. In 2000, the organization reaffirmed its purpose to enhance the character-building aspect of sport. Through “Champions of Character,” the NAIA seeks to create an environment in which every student athlete, coach, official and spectator is committed to the true spirit of competition through five tenets: respect, integrity, responsibility, servant leadership and sportsmanship.

The Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference is a prominent intercollegiate athletics conference comprised of the following ten outstanding independent or private institutions of higher education in the state: Bethany College, , , Kansas Wesleyan University, McPherson College, Ottawa University, Southwestern College, Sterling College, and . The KCAC is an affiliated conference of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics. 2013 Swedes Football 13 2013 Coaching Staff

Manny Matsakis - Head Coach

Manny Matsakis, head coach, has spent the past three years as the head coach at Enka High School in North Carolina. Prior to his current position, Matsakis was in the League as the offensive coordinator for the after serving at the offensive coordinator for one year at Capital University in Columbus, Ohio. Matsakis’ coaching experience also includes head coach at Texas State University, assistant head coach at Texas Tech University, offensive coordinator at University of Wyoming, head coach at , special teams coordinator/tight ends coach at Kansas State University, offensive coordinator at , assistant coach and graduate assistant coach at Kansas State University and assistant coach at Barberton High School in Barberton, Ohio.

From 2004 to 2007, Matsakis stepped away from coaching to serve as President and CEO of Big Season Sports, a multimedia sports conglomerate. He also founded the Quarterly magazine, which is now American Football Monthly, the national trade journal for football coaches.

In 2007, Matsakis began Triple Shoot Football Clinics to help high school and coaches implement his offensive system. He conducts coaching clinics nationwide as well as football camps for high school and youth league players.

Matsakis was a three-time All-Conference kicker at Capital University (1980-83) and was a four-year letter winner. He currently holds the school record for longest for making a 54-yarder in 1981. He was drafted in the 8th round of the 1984 NFL draft by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Matsakis earned his Bachelor of Arts in biology from Capital University in 1984. In 1986, he received his teaching certification in science from Capital University and in 1989 he received his Master of Science degree in curriculum and instruction from Kansas State University.

Jarrod Wirt The former U.S. Marine is a ten-year CFL Defensive Coordinator coaching veteran who has been an offensive coordinator with both the B.C. Lions from 1997 to Jarrod Wirt has been coaching for nine seasons 1998 and the Ottawa Rough Riders in 1995. He has with the Carroll College Saints football program in the held coaching positions at Division 1-AA Murray Frontier Conference. Prior to coaching, Wirt played State, Cumberland Community College and various four years as a standout defensive back for the Saints high schools in Ohio. from 2000 to 2004.
