The system was constructed in 1957-60s and it was restored and reconstructed later on. The water pipe is in a satisfactory condition at present. One of the water intakes is in a comparatively good condition. The second water source is situated near the drainpipe because of which it is sometimes polluted during rains and snow-melting. In 1997, a drainage in the form of a horizontal intake was constructed in the area of water intakes in order to collect dispersed small discharges. There is no sanitary zone in the area, which is a pasture. The DRR with 120 cub/m volume was constructed in the 60-s. The DRR with 120 cub/m volume was constructed in the middle of the 60-s, the DRR with 80cub/m - in the middle of 80-s. The DR-s and the sanitary zones need to be restored. The distribution network was constructed in the middle of the 60-s with steel tubes. 4.24km part of the network was reconstructed in 2012 with dy=50-150mm polyethylene pipes, the rest part which is 3.5km is in a bad condition. The water demand of the village is 11.4l/sec. The village is supplied with water of the water pipe named Goris-Kornidzor in summer months. It is possible that the whole water supply of the village will be provided with this water pipe in the future. The reconstruction works of the distribution network of the village are urgent for the community at present. Reconstruction of the distribution network and DRRs as well as its sanitary zones is planned under the micro-project. Institutional arrangements Task Team Leader: Safeguards Specialist: (WB) Erkin Mamadaliev Darejan Kapanadze - Environment Sophia Georgieva - Social Implementation Implementing entity: Works Supervisor: Works Contractor: arrangements (RoA) ATDF “V.Vardanyan” LTD “ GAS ” LTD SITE DESCRIPTION Name of institution Water Department of Syuniq marzpetaran (regional governor office), Khndzoresk whose premises are to be potable water pipeline non-profit organization rehabilitated Address and site location Address: Syuniq marz, Khndzoresk village. Who owns the land? Land plots for the construction of sanitary zones for DRRs are property of Khndzoresk Community. The distribution network will pass through the communal roads. The screening of the pipeline route is carried out through google map. The comparison with the construction plan revealed that the entire route of the construction of pipeline will pass through the public roads. The temporary closure of the roads is not necessary as construction activities will be carried out at the border of the roads and main part of the road will be used for passing. The communal roads are not asphalted and do not have sidewalks. As the construction activities will be carried out along the communal streets some temporary disturbance to residents may occur during the construction activities in front of the fences of private houses. Temporary safe wooden passings will be used to cover the trenches in front of the private houses. Backfilling of soil and rehabilitation of landscape will be carried out immediately pipes are laid in trenches. Description of physical The new distribution pipeline will be constructed parallel to the old pipelines in order and natural environment not to stop water supply of the community during the construction period. The old around the site (see maps pipelines will remain in use during the construction period of new pipelines. and photo annex 1) The distribution network will pass through the community roads which are public property. There are no structures or other assets along the route of the pipeline to be affected. The ground through which the route of the pipeline is passing is not asphalted. No private land use is needed for the reconstruction of the pipeline. LEGISLATION National & local Construction of a new potable water pipeline is not subject to the Environmental legislation & permits that Impact Assessment and to the issuance of the expert environmental review conclusion. apply to project activity According to the Armenian legislation, the following permissions are required for this micro-project: (a) Construction permit (b) Copy of an agreement for construction waste disposal (c) Hydrogeological conclusion is not required, because potable water is supplied to the community through the existing main pipelines. (d) Special permission of water use is not required, because potable water is supplied to the community through the existing main pipelines.
