ARMY DRESS REGULATIONS (ALL RANKS) Part 14 Regulations covering Standards, Guidons, Colours and Banners of the British Army Ministry of Defence PS12(A) August 2013 SECTION 1 – GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS INTRODUCTION 14.01 Scope. These regulations contain the regulations dealing with the scale, provision, accounting, control, design and care of Standards, Guidons, Colours and Banners. 14.02 Application. These regulations are applicable to the Regular Army, the TA, the ACF and the CCF, and the MOD sponsored Schools. 14.03 Layout. VALUE, VALUES AND THE BRITISH ARMY A Seminar Report Edited by Patrick Mileham The Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities, The University of Edinburgh and the Strategic and Combat Studies Institute, Camberley August 1996 The Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities, in The University of Edinburgh, is the only one of its kind in the United Kingdom, and since its foundation in 1970 has welcomed over 400 International scholars as Fellows to pursue advanced studies in the Humanities - understood as the study of all matters concerning the human condition and culture which do not require laboratory work. The public dimensions of the Institute's work take the form of seminars, lectures, cultural events and publications. The Institute is an intellectual and social catalyst, selecting themes which bring together people from different walks of life to address common problems, and to pool resources: those from the educational profession work alongside those from industry, commerce, government and the media. Traditional scholarship is augmented by innovative work of an inter-disciplinary nature. Major themes have been: The Scottish Enlightenment (1986); Technology, Communication and the Humanities (1988); 1789-1989: Evolution or Revolution? (1989); Cultures and Institutions (1991); Costing Values (1993-98); European Enlightenment (1995-2000); and Scots at War. Three international exhibitions have been devised and mounted at the Royal Museum of Scotland during the Edinburgh International Festivals, and have attracted attendances of up to 100,000. Sponsorship and generous benefactions make the work of the Institute possible, and the Director welcomes the opportunity to discuss matters in confidence. (3) During the Vietnam conflict, Representative Hunter’s distinguished service was recognized by the award of the Bronze Star and Air Medal, as well as the National Defense Service Medal and the Vietnam Service Medal. -

Introduction 1.1 This report was commissioned by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) Director General (Security and Safety), Robert Rooks, who requested an inspection of the investigative function of the Special Investigation Branch (SIB) of the Royal Military Police (RMP). 1.2 The commission was accepted on the understanding that the inspection would not review individual operations or cases, but would instead focus on an assessment of processes and procedures of high level 3 investigations.1 1.3 I am honoured to have been invited to conduct this inspection and trust it will serve as an indication of how Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) may be able to support the MoD in the wider context of service policing in the future. Terms of reference 1.4 The terms of reference were drawn from correspondence and direct communication with the Office of the Director General (Security and Safety) (DG(S&S)) and the Office of the Provost Marshal (Army) (PM(A)). 'Professionalising the Delivery of Sport in the Army'
DASCB-17-010316 See Distribution ARMY SPORT CONTROL BOARD DIRECTIVE ‘PROFESSIONALISING THE DELIVERY OF SPORT IN THE ARMY’ SITUATION 1. Our Army is busy and committed, at the same time ‘transforming’, changing its shape as it implements a ‘whole force1’ construct and continues delivery of the A2020 structures within the SDSR 2015 outcome2, the Army Command Review and investment in the Army’s core purposes3, the shift from downsizing and redundancy to stabilisation of manpower and retention, and the enabling activity, including some early unit moves, to set the conditions for our rebasing in the UK (which should be complete by the end of 2019). 2. Throughout all of this the Army's strategic edge will remain the calibre and commitment of its people: they lie at the heart of the Army and successful transformation will only be achieved through their recruitment, retention, education, training and motivation. Our key role will be to support the Army’s retention and recruiting efforts by offering sporting opportunity both as respite against busy programmes and operations but also to assist in honing the competitive edge of our people, so important in a volunteer organisation and one that is, instinctively, competitive in all that it does. 3. CGS recognises the important role that sport plays in the Army: ‘I place a huge premium on sport in the Army. My starting point is that it helps our Army win in battle. It plays a vital role in welfare, morale, operational effectiveness and recovery. Sport produces soldiers who build and lead teams by habit and reflex.
