Even today they still are the most important and common transportation vehicles for the personal needs. They give the freedom of mobility on an individual level. They cover the driver in the public space giving him/her confidence and the comfort of a home. But they also represent driver's identity, so the other participants of the traffic interact with the driver through this image represented. Oral History is a method of collecting historical information through tape-recorded interviews between a narrator with firsthand knowledge of historically significant events and a well-informed interviewer, with the goal of preserving substantive additions to the historical record. The tape recording is transcribed, lightly edited for continuity and clarity, and reviewed by the interviewee. The corrected manuscript is bound with photographs and illustrative materials and placed in The Bancroft Library at the University of California, Berkeley, and in other research collections for scholarly use. Because it is primary material, oral history is not intended to present the final, verified, or complete narrative of events. • 1958 Morris Oxford Endurance Rally Car PRICE £25,000
1958 Morris Oxford Endurance Rally Car PRICE £25,000 ABOUT THIS CAR IDEAL FOR USE ON: Flying Scotsman / Blue Train / Safari Challenge / Trans America / Odyssey Italia / Paris Amsterdam / Slartibartfast / Great Amazon Adventure / Buenos Caracas / Maya classic This car was built by ourselves from the ground up in 2014 ready to tackle some of the most demanding roads in the world for competitive events in Bhutan and India. The original Morris Oxford was named by Sir William Morris after the city of dreaming spires, the university town in which he grew up. Morris's Oxford cars would over time help to turn the city of Oxford into an industrial city on a grand scale. Between 1956 and 1959 there were 58,117 Morris Oxford’s produced in the UK. In 1956, the then owner of the Morris brand sold the rights and the tooling of the Morris Oxford to Hindustan Motors in India, where the car remained in strong production from 1958 and ceased production in April 2015, with very few improvements and changes over its production lifetime becoming the longest running model in the world for 58 years. Called the Hindustan Ambassador the car was a standard car which was more than strong enough to keep up with some of India’s arduous roads. With its history and heritage of being a strong, simple and ultra-reliable this fabulous Morris Oxford can boast about having everything needed for an Endurance Rally Car, and is a sound choice for any longer distance event. Built up from a sound rust free body this car had a thorough and intensive build to get it to the current specification.
