Stars William Russell as Sir Lancelot. None of the episodes were ever copyrighted with the Library of Congress. Although the series is supposed to be black and white, a number of episodes are mysteriously in gorgeous color. In all of Arthurian legend, the most famous of the Knights of the Round Table is undoubtedly Sir Lancelot. This series, painstakingly researched by the History and Literature Departments of Oxford University, re-creates some of the notable exploits of the famous knight, as well as the deeds of the other members of King Arthur's court. Vol. 1 The Knight with the Red Plume (9/15/1956) Sir Lancelot desires to become a Knight of the Round Table, but he has to prove his mettle by going through a series of tough and strenuous tests. The Ferocious Fathers (9/23/1956) Lancelot helps Urgan the Strong drive off the besieging forces of Sir Melius the Mighty. In gratitude, Urgan offers his daughter Igrane in marriage to Lancelot. The Queen's Knight (9/29/1956) Sir Mordred, King Arthur's cousin, kidnaps Queen Guenevere. In exchange for her safe return, Mordred and his father, King Pell, demand that Arthur turn over his kingdom to them. The Outcast (10/6/1956) When Lancelot requests that this squire be given training in order to become a Knight of the Round Table, he is surprised by the strong opposition he meets. Vol. 2: Winged Victory (10/13/1956) Lancelot and his squire Brian are sent by King Arthur to carry a secret battle plan to Prince Boudwin, whose castle is under siege by King Mark. However, the two are soon captured by King Mark, who tries to get them to reveal the plan. Sir Bliant (10/20/1956) Although King Arthur has managed to arrange a truce between the battling Sir Bliant and Sir Rolf, Bliant's three sons break it by kidnapping Rolf's three daughters. Desperate to get his daughters back, Rolf comes to Arthur for help. The Pirates (10/27/1956) king Arthur and his forces set out to capture a band of pirates that are said to be hiding out in a town on the coast. In reality the pirates aren't in the town but are not far from the castle, waiting for Arthur to leave so they can sack it. The Magic Sword (11/3/1956) A knight wants to rescue a lady imprisoned by her brother, but believes he is too cowardly to do so on his own. He comes to King Arthur for help and advice on how to be brave and courageous. Merlin has a trick up his sleeve for giving the youth the confidence he needs to rescue the girl. Vol. 3: Lancelot's Banishment (11/10/1956) King Arthur banishes Lancelot from the kingdom because he believes that Lancelot made a false accusation against King Marhaus. Outside the kingdom, however, Lancelot runs into Marhaus and uncovers an evil plot. The Roman Wall (11/17/1956) Sir Lancelot and his squire Brian go to the aid of King Boltan, who swears that ghosts have abducted his daughter. Knight Errant (2/9/1957) After their father dies, two sisters inherit his tiny impoverished kingdom. Their guardian is eager to set up a rich marriage for the older girl, but she is not willing. Double Identity (2/16/1957) Sir Richard of Taunton is attacked and beaten by three men and left for dead. His uncle plans to substitute his son, Richard's double, and gain control of the family estate. Lancelot is suspicious and starts investigating. Vol 4: The Lady Lilith (2/23/1957) The Lady Lilith has been running the castle of Goodhue since it was left to her when she was 14 years old. But now Sir Liones petitions for a ruling at the court of King Arthur, quoting the law that no property can be inherited by a woman - which sets King Arthur a difficult choice to make. He suggests that the best solution would be for Sir Liones to marry the Lady, but that is not possible. The Bridge (3/2/1957) While preparing for knighthood, Squire Brian uncovers a plot by King Marhaus. The king plans to break a treaty and take over a village. The Ugly Duckling (3/9/1957) While on a visit to castle Lamorack, Sir Lancelot and Merlin try to help their host when he receives a note threatening his daughter's life. Merlin learns that the note is false, and written by the girl herself in a bid for attention. Later the girl disappears. Another notes arrives and this time it's genuine. Knights Choice (3/16/1957) After the death of a knight of the Round Table, a young man enters a tournament that will decide who will fill the vacancy. But the other knights object to the young contestant because of his shabby appearance. Sir Lancelot intercedes for him. Vol. 5: The Missing Princess (3/23/1957) When a king breaks a treaty between his country and a tribe of women, his sister is taken hostage. Sir Lancelot sets forth to rescue the princess. The Mortaise Fair (4/6/1957) While visiting Mortaise Castle, Queen Guinevere is presented with a priceless jewel from the Rajah of Kaipur. Shortly afterward there is a fire, and during the excitement the jewel is stolen. The Thieves (4/13/1957) King Arthur and Sir Lancelot disguise themselves as thieves in order to test the validity of a statement by Lancelot. The knight believes that the thieves of the kingdom are thieves only because they are starving. The Prince of Limerick (4/20/1957) A prince in love with King Anguish's daughter Kathleen is banished from the court because he possesses nothing but the ability to write rhymes. Sir Lancelot, hearing of the young couple's plight, travels to Anguish's court to help them. Vol. 6: Caledon (11/24/1956) While Sir Lancelot is on a mission for King Arthur, he is robbed and his horse is killed by a group of wild warriors. Theft of Excalibur (12/1/1956) On St. Stephen's Day, King Arthur and his knights traditionally change places for one day with the court squires. During the day, one of the "squires-for-a-day" steals the Sword of Excalibur. The Black Castle (12/15/1956) A young knight's prospective father-in-law has been kidnapped and is being held prisoner. Sir Lancelot agrees to help the knight rescue the man. Shepherd's War (12/22/1956) A band of renegade knights is preying on the shepherds in the area. Sir Lancelot decides to champion the shepherds' cause, and masquerades as a shepherd to teach them how to fight the knights off. The Magic Book (12/29/1956) Sir Lancelot volunteers to defend an abbey and its occupants from invading Danes. Vol. 7: The Ruby of Radnor (1/5/1957) As a punishment because he rebels at working with Merlin's pigeons, Squire Brian is sent on an errand to deliver a crate of pigeons to a neighboring castle. En route, he becomes involved with a gang of thieves who stole the precious Ruby of Radnor. The Lesser Breed (1/12/1957) King Arthur learns that a nearby village is being terrorized by a horrible monster. Sir Lancelot is sent to investigate. He discovers that the monster is really a Viking boat, and that it's the Vikings who are doing the terrorizing. Witches Brew (1/19/1957) A woman claiming mystical powers has convinced King Bors of Sagitaw that she is working evil against him. Sir Lancelot enlists Merlin's aid against her powers. Sir Crustabread (1/26/1957) King Arthur gives Sir Lancelot a new name and sends him off to champion a lady who is being forced into marrying an unscrupulous man. Maid of Somerset (2/2/1957) A young girl asks Sir Lancelot's aid. An evil monarch, King Meliot, is selling the young men of the village of Cheddar into slavery. The Adventures of Robin Hood Each episode is approximtely 26 minutes. Robin of Locksley and his group of Sherwood Forest protect England from the evil machinations of Prince John, while good King Richard was away at the Crusades. Cast: Richard Greene, Archie Duncan, Patricia Driscoll, John Arnatt, Alan Wheatley, Alex Gauge. Vol. 1: The Coming of Robin Hood (9/26/1955) Robin returns from the crusades to find his land and castle has been stolen and he is declared an outlaw. The Moneylender (10/3/1955) Robin, a new recruit to Scatlock's outlaw band, is sent out to bring back some loot from a moneylender who has exacted 100% interest from the people to whom he has lent money. Dead or Alive (10/10/1955) Little John escapes from the bondage of his feudal lord, but is caught in a tavern by the Sheriff's men. The sergeant offers him his freedom if he will go into Sherwood Forest and bring back an outlaw. He runs into Robin for the first time. Friar Tuck (10/17/1955) Friar Tuck calls on Robin to help the course of true love run smoothly. A young girl in love with a yeoman has sought sanctuary with the Friar after discovering that the lord of the manor has a different suitor in mind for her. Disguised as a monk, Robin sets out to help.

Vol. 2: Maid Marian (10/24/1955) When Maid Marian’s jewels are stolen in error, she sets out to help capture the outlaws. A Guest for the Gallows (10/31/1955) The Sheriff has sentenced a peasant, Will Stutely, to death. Robin disguises himself as a butcher, and plans to get an interview with the Sheriff by starting a riot - but what good will that do? The Challenge (11/7/1955) The Sheriff thinks one of his men is the best archer in the land. Sir Richard of the Lea says he knows of someone even better - Robin - and a contest is arranged. The outcome is never in doubt, but Sir Richard soon has cause to regret that he ever supported Robin. Queen Eleanor (11/14/1955) The Queen Mother, Eleanor of Acquitaine, arrives in Nottingham on a mission to collect money in aid of King Richard's was against the Saracens. The Sheriff, after making a generous donation, plots to waylay the party and get his money back, but Marian persuades the Queen to let Robin help her.

Vol. 3: Checkmate (11/21/1955) The Count de Waldern makes himself unpopular with Robin when he makes advances to Maid Marian. The Count invites her to dinner, but he finds he has two uninvited guests. The Ordeal (4/9/1956) Edgar, one of the outlaws, is falsely accused by the Sheriff of the murder of Jack the Wagoner. He must submit to trial by ordeal - by plucking an iron bar from a boiling caldron. A Husband for Marian (4/30/1956) When a rather unpleasant knight wants to marry Marian for her dowry, Robin has to act, and disguises himself as a wealthy German baron. The Highlander (5/14/1956) A Highland visitor to Sherwood Forest is regarded with suspicion by Robin, especially when he is seen to burgle a treasure cave. Who is he, and what is he up to? Vol. 4: The Youngest Outlaw (12/19/1955) A young boy tells Robin that he is a page in Waldern Castle, but wants to join the outlaws. How can Robin refuse, when he finds out how important the 'page' really is? The Betrothal (12/26/1955) Gambling has always been a full-time occupation with the outlaws - gambling on their luck against the Sheriff. But Sir Richard couldn't pay the price of his gamble: he now has a month to pay the money or forfeit his estate. The Alchemist (1/9/1956) A poor woman has been accused of witchcraft, and is under sentence of death to be burned at the stake. At least, that was the Sheriff's plan before Robin appeared with a clever ruse. The Jongleur (1/9/1956) A strolling minstrel leads Little John and Robin into a trap laid by the Sheriff, but he later discovers on which side justice lies.

Vol. 5: The Brothers (1/16/1956) Robin is called on to aid two brothers, one of whom wants to become a priest. They are both fleeing the Sheriff of Nottingham, and Robin sends them to an abbot. However, they are caught, and the would-be priest is thrown into prison. Can Robin rescue him and help him take his vows? The Intruders (1/23/1956) Friendly villagers have turned against Robin and the outlaws after being robbed. To win back their confidence, he must find the thieves. The Sheriff’s Boots (1/30/1956) The Sheriff of Nottingham prides himself on being well dressed - even down to his boots. His own bootmakers don't seem to be doing a good job, but what would he say if he knew that he was wearing outlaw boots? Errand of Mercy (2/6/1956) While delivering herbs to fight an epidemic of St Anthony's Fire, Robin and Little John are recognised by a beggar, and are in danger.

Vol. 6: The Vandals (2/13/1956) A man is found murdered in Sherwood Forest, and the arrow that killed him is sworn to be Robin's. Local looting in the village is also being blamed on him, so Robin must find the vandals, in order to clear his name. Richard the Lionheart (2/20/1956) There are many men who don't believe it, but the outlaws are among the most faithful of King Richard's subjects.. Peregrinus believed them , but they were getting fidgetty with him around. They are not know how closely he is connected to the King. Ladies of Sherwood (2/27/1956) Arthur of Tetsbury is to be hanged for keeping money from King Richard's crusade, instead of paying it in taxes to Prince John. The Sheriff suspects Robin will try to rescue him, and frobids anyone to enter or leave the city. But a woman's robes can hide even a man's Lincoln Green. Will Scarlet (3/5/1956) Will Scarlet has an eye for the girls, and this lands him in trouble with the Sheriff's men. Robin comes to the rescue, but Will's willingness to trust everyone is still liable to land him in trouble. Vol. 7: The May Queen (4/9/1956) The May Queen is being made to marry a man she does not love, but a tournament has been arranged, and perhaps under cover of the jousting, Robin will be able to do something. The Wanderer (4/16/1956) Derwent the outlaw makes a friend to whom he will be everlastingly grateful. Sir Walter de Lys discovers that there is such a thing as hygiene, after a healer called Joseph cures him by unconventional means, which riles the other healers in Nottingham. Then the Sheriff takes a hand... Secret Mission (4/30/1956) A mysterious hooded pilgrim, Peregrinus the palmer, seems anxious to make the acquaintance of the outlaws, and proves himself a worthy friend when he shows how well he can use a bow. But he asks awkward questions about their loyalty to King Richard. Tables Turned (5/14/1956) Derwent and Much 'obtain' some loot which they heard was jewels. But it turns out to be two children, who prove to be more than a nuisance. Soon the tables are turned, however.

Vol. 8: The Black Five (4/15/1957) The Sheriff's life is in danger, and he sends to Robin for help! What can have caused this sudden friendship, and who or what are the 'Black Five'. Food For Thought (4/22/1957) Count Olivier has levied a new tax, taking so much food from the people of Upper Minton that they may starve. Robin captures the food from the tax collector and must return it to the villagers Too Many Earls (4/29/1957) Marian's uncle is quarrelling with the Earl of Northgate, and she suggests an archery match to decide the matter. She hopes Robin will be able to shoot for her uncle. The Little People (5/20/1957) Robin and Friar Tuck are escorting Marian back home from Ireland, after rescuing her uncle, when they hear for the first time about the leprechauns.

Vol. 9: The Frightened Tailor (6/3/1957) A list of people loyal to King Richard comes into the Sheriff's possession, but fortunately Robin has a chance of rescuing it. The Path of True Love (6/10/1957) Locksley Hall has sentimental associations for Robin and Marian, and they pay a visit. But the current owner is treating his peasants miserably. The Road in the Air (6/17/1957) Sir William has imposed an import duty on all grain taken to Tom's mill, and unless it's paid, he will see nobody crosses his land, which surrounds it. Carlotta (6/24/1957) Robin and his men plan to steal gold bound for the coffers of Prince John, using Little John's girlfriend, Carlotta.

Vol. 10: My Brother’s Keeper 11/11/1957) Sir Loren is banished from his home by his father. Then Loren kills his young brother in the forest. Robin and Little John are the only witnesses An Apple for the Archer (11/18/1957) Mary Quartermaine has to marry the best bow-man in the land. Robin plays cupid when he teaches Timothy Cox to shoot an arrow well enough to win. The Rivals (1/6/1958) Trouble begins when the Sheriff tries to levy yet another tax to raise money. His lieutenant advises against this, and they plan to start a band of outlaws to compete with Robin's men. One Man’s Meat (2/3/1958) Squire Woodstock has discovered a form of bran which he thinks will replace all other food. Robin and Friar Tuck have to eat it for dinner.

Vol. 11: The Knight Who Came To Dinner (6/4/1956) A penniless knight, Sir Richard of the Lea, has mortgaged his estate to the abbot, and cannot repay his debt. The outlaws lend him the sum he needs. The Wager (6/11/1956) Robin bets Friar Tuck that he can collect more money by begging than Tuck can by prayer. But Norman soldiers make things very difficult. The Scientist (10/8/1956) Albertus the scientist has invented a terrible bomb, and is afraid his idea will fall into the wrong hands. How can Robin, an outlaw, help a man who keeps such close company with the king? The Goldmaker (10/29/1956) Sir Richard of the Lea has a lot of very nice pewter plate, and when an 'alchemist' comes along and says he can turn it into gold, Sir Richard is taken in.

Vol. 12: The Traitor (5/21/1956) Robin and his men are not traitors, and when they find that one of three men on a special mission is not to be trusted, they decide to do something. Ransom (11/12/1956) Five hundred crowns is demanded from the villagers by Count Severne to pay for the return of his son. Edwin, spokesman of the serfs, appeals to Robin. The Friar’s Pilgrimage (12/24/1956) It may be odd that Robin should decide to accompany Friar Tuck on his pilgrimage to Canterbury, but several people are glad he did, as they are soon embroiled in a case of witchcraft. Hubert (1/7/1957) Lady Rowena is being forced to marry a local nobleman, De Vere. Sir Hubert is determined to storm the castle single-handed, to save her.

Vol. 13: The Final Tax (2/4/1957) Sir Charles surveys collecting the tax to which he is legally entitled if one of his villagers dies. But Friar Tuck has a plan to thwart the rascally bailiff. The Ambush (2/11/1957) Prince John is always trying to seize the English throne while King Richard is in the Holy Land. But someone has a better claim: Arthur of Brittany. The Goldmaker’s Return (2/25/1957) The Sheriff gives the alchemist just seven days more to produce gold. Robin, feeling guilty for delivering hime to the Sheriff, tries to rescue him. Flight From France (3/4/1957) Sir Roderick is on a mission to raise money for Prince John. Robin decides to take Sir Roderick's place, and seize the gold for King Richard, but the plan goes wrong. Vol. 14: The Secret Pool (5/11/1957) Robin and Marian are fishing in a pool which Robin explains has the biggest fish in the area. It belongs to Sir Cedric Hayworth, who knows nothing about it. Fair Play (3/18/1957) An acrobatic team come through Sherwood Forest on their way to Nottingham Fair and give Robin an idea. The York Treasure (4/1/1957) Joseph of Cordoba and a young friend, Esther, escape from York with money raised by friends to pay the passage of a shipload of refugees landing at Grimsby. When Joseph is wounded, Robin offers to accompany Esther to the coast. The Borrowed Baby (4/8/1957) The Count of Severne tells the Sheriff that his gold has been taken by Robin Hood. He also suspects Maid Marian. The Sheriff puts the suspicions to a test.

Vol. 15: The Deserted Castle (3/12/1956) The Sheriff is puzzled by something very strange going on in a ruined castle. When he arrives with his men-at-arms, he finds that the castle contains an unusual occupant. The Miser (3/19/1956) When the villagers have been charged double taxes, Robin decides to teach miserly Sir William de Courcier a lesson. Robin pretends to be helpful, but the miser soon learns the error of his ways. Trial by Battle (3/26/1956) Marian is arrested and sent for trial, suspected of murder, after the King's Commissioner is killed with a dagger of hers. Two men have to fight, and only if her defender wins is she proved innocent. Children of Greenwood (4/2/1956) When the freeman A'Bland flees from a false accusation of murder, his children,Alice & Oswald, are seized and held.

Vol. 16: The Byzantine Treasure (4/23/1956) The outlaws discover solid gold plates belonging to Queen Eleanor have been stolen. The Byzantine treasure is too 'hot' for them to hold. The Inquisitor (5/7/1956) Robin and Little John find new ways of getting into inaccessible abbeys: Little John through the kitchen, and Robin by riding in a wine barrel. The Thorkil Ghost (5/28/1956) Harold of Thorkil Castle insists he is being haunted by a vicious Viking ghost. At least that's what he tells Robin, but Robin doesn't believe in ghos The Prisoner (7/9/1956) A courier has come to Prince John, and Robin thinks he bears important news. The Prince says it is of King Richard's death, but Robin disbelieves this, and sets to work to discover the truth.

Vol. 17: A Village Wooing Men try to join Robin's outlaw band for some strange reasons, but surely Wat Longfellow's was the strangest of all. He wanted to join so he could get married to the widow Winifred! 10/1/1956 Blackmail By chance, a stranger hidden in a cart overhears a conversation between Robin and Marian. Is it enough to blackmail the outlaw of Sherwood Forest? Robin impersonates the Sheriff to turn the tables on the blackmailer. 10/15/1956 A Year And A Day A year and a day - that's the length of time an escaped serf has to stay free before freedom is his forever. But he has to stay in the public eye, and how can he do this when he is a wanted man? Surgeon Calend has done it for a year, but there's another day to go. 10/22/1956 The Imposters Robin's principles are well-known, if not well-liked. There are two kinds of men he doesn't like: traitors and impostors. Unless he is the impostor? 11/5/1956

Vol. 18: Isabella There is only one attractive young woman in Nottingham that Robin trusts, and that's Marian. Can he trust the lovely Isabella too? Prince John is planning to divorce his wife, Princess Avice, who asks Robin for help. 11/19/1956 The Hero Mark becomes a hero under false pretences. But is he hero enough to take the consequences? 11/26/1956 The Haunted Mill Tom the Miller is being harassed by a series of misfortunes, which his powerful neighbor, Sir William, ascribes to the 'Little People', but Friar Tuck doesn't believe this falsehood, and asks Robin for help. 12/3/1956 The Black Patch Sir Dunstan of Travers, a guest of Maid Marian, discloses to her his vow to wear a black patch over one eye until he has captured Robin Hood. She hurries off to warn Robin, and almost falls into a cleverly laid trap. 12/10/1956

Vol. 19: Outlaw Money Money problems are not new, but outlaws have unconventional methods of solving them. To help the villagers of Lotham, who are being very heavily taxed, Robin supplies table silver to the silversmith and official minter of Nottingham to melt down into coin. Unknown to Robin, the Sheriff already suspects the silversmith is in sympathy with King Richard. 12/17/1956 The Trap The Sheriff's campaign against Robin and the outlaws has not been very successful, but Sir Simon, an agent of Prince John, comes along with a new idea, and proposes to carry it through himself. The Sheriff is pleased to hand over to someone else. 12/31/1956 The Dream Marian's cousin, Sir William Fitzwalter, comes from Eleanor, the Queen Mother, to ask Robin's help. It means Robin has to go to Austria. That night Marian has a strange dream, causing her to fear for his safety. 1/14/1957 The Blackbird Most people can stand a bit of teasing, but the outlaws go too far with Little John, and he walks off in a huff. It was a pity he didn't look where he was going - it would have saved Robin a lot of trouble. Little John is caught by the Sheriff's men and sentenced to hang, and Robin has to rescue him. 1/21/1957

Vol. 20: The Shell Game Robin's men are annoyed when he gives refuge to Pick, a confidence trickster, who specialises in a shell trick, which makes him rather unpopular with the men. Robin uses him in a plan to collect some jewels for King Richard's campaign in France. 1/28/1957 The Bandit Of Brittany Robin and Friar Tuck escort Prince Arthur to Chateau Marmont in France for safety. There they make a discovery, of a French 'Robin Hood' called Jacques Chapeau. Jacques captures the prince, intending to use him as ransom for his brother imprisoned in Paris. 2/18/1957 The Dowry A preposterous merchant and his beautiful daughter Bess are on their way to Sir Harold of Nottingham with a dowry of one thousand gold crowns. Garth, one of the outlaws, reports their presence to Robin, who arranges to relieve them of their gold. 3/25/1957 Highland Fling Robin and Friar Tuck go on a mission to Scotland for King Richard, to collect five hundred gold crowns, for King William, but they find the Scots suspicious. Proving their identity gives Tuck some anxious moments. 5/6/1957

Vol. 21: The Mystery Of Ireland's Eye Robin and Friar Tuck go with Marian to an island off the coast of Ireland, where they suspect her uncle, Sir Edward de Courcy, is being held prisoner. 5/13/1957 The Infidel During King Richard's crusade, Ali ben Azra, one of the hated Saracens is captured and brought to England. In their turn, the Saracens capture Lord Rossmore and hold him hostage against Ali's safe return. 5/27/1957 The Salt King One essential commodity in short supply is salt, and Lord Guthrie is plotting with the Sheriff to hold up supplies so the price will rise. The plan works well, until Robin steps in. 9/30/1957 A Tuck In Time Edgar, Friar Tuck's twin brother, has returned from the East with a deadly machine, and is prepared to sell it to Prince John. Vol. 22: Pepper Robin becomes involved in the fortunes of a Byzantine princess, Irene, who has been held hostage in England. 10/14/1957 The Charter Lord Greenwald is seriously ill in his castle, and he is the only person who knows the hiding place of a Charter which will limit Prince Johns' power, should he become king. 10/21/1957 A Change Of Heart Friar Tuck, living in Tintern Abbey, sends for Robin's help against Lord Humphrey, who is planning to expel the Celts from the Forest of Dean. 10/28/1957 Brother Battle Brother Wootan has been banished many times for teaching the children of serfs to read. Robin allows him to start a school in the forest, and one of the unwilling pupils is Little John. 11/4/1957

Vol. 23: The Angry Village Robin and Little John, while hunting in the forest, come across villagers hiding grain to avoid it being confiscated. But the grain is discovered, and treachery is suspected. 11/25/1957 The Mark Barnaby Church is being rebuil. Walter, the master mason, is proud of his work, but Sir Blaise, plotting to turn the church into a fortress, meets with unexpected opposition. 12/2/1957 The Bride Of Robin Hood A girl, who has run away from her home to avoid a marriage to Walter, proves herself a valiant archer in defence of Robin. In return for her service he grants her a favor. 12/9/1957 To Be A Student Prince John is levying troops from among young men. Peter Larkin, a brilliant student that Friar Tuck is preparing for university, tries to escape this traitorous service. 12/16/1957 Vol. 24: Christmas Goose Young Davey has a pet goose, who is very attached to him. One day it saves him from a flogging from Sir Leon's men, but in so doing is caught and, as a punishment, sentenced to become Sir Leon's Christmas dinner. 12/23/1957. Challenge of Black Knight 12/30/1957 Will Dale, as a special birthday treat, is brought by his father to the forest. There, he goes hunting with Robin and the outlaws, but they get into a fight with Sir Roger Fitzwilliam, who kidnaps Will. Profiteer The village of Lotham is without food, because of the failure of the grain crop. The Lord of the Manor refuses to help, but Robin hears about it, and agrees that Andrew, a serf from Lotham, shall buy food with money from the outlaws. 1/13/1958. Knight Errant Marian wants to speak to Robin urgently. She tries to tell him that Sir Jack of Southwark has her father's permission to marry her. But Robin is so engrossed in his archery practice that that he will not take any notice. When Sir Jack arrives, Robin finds out the hard way. 1/20/1958.

Vol. 25: The Healing Hand Little John is a good man in a fight, but not so good when brains are needed. Oswald of the Healing Hand, a 'quack' doctor, finds him easy to deceive, when he suffers from indigestion. 1/27/1958. Too Many Robins Alma, an innkeeper's daughter, hero-worships Robin. But to gain her love, Tom the Thatcher tells her he is Robin. But she wants proof. 2/10/1958. The Crusaders Robin has a rendezvous with four knights with whom he fought in the crusades, and in keeping it he falls into a trap set by the Sheriff. At last it seems the Sheriff has won - but Robin has got out of difficult and dangerous situations before. 2/17/1958. Castle in the Air The impoverished knight and friend of the outlaws, Sir Richard of the Lea, loses a game of dice against Sir Adrian. Robin relaises the game was rigged. But so does the Sheriff, who is determined to turn it to his advantage. 2/24/1958

Vol. 26: The Double Bolbec, a sworn enemy of Robin Hood, arrives at Nottingham Castle to see the Sheriff. He has, he tells the Sheriff, a foolproof plan to trap the outlaw leader, involving Luke Tanner, who is the exact double of Robin. 3/3/1958 Roman Gold Dr. Quince, an antiquarian friend of Robin's, is excavating the site of an old Roman villa. Robin and his men agree to lend a hand, in the hope of finding Roman gold. He is very successful until the news reaches the Sheriff, who wants the gold for himself. 3/10/1958 Ghost That Failed Local farmers believe that the land belonging to surly Simon Dexter is haunted. Robin and Friar Tuck realise that this is Simon's way of scaring his neighbors off his land, and decide to see what they can do about it. 3/17/1958 Sign of Blue Boar A miserly Nottingham tailor, designing to own the 'Bue Boar' inn, consults with the Sheriff. Together they work out a plan to get control of the inn and lay a trap for Robin. 3/24/1958 Vol. 27: Quickness of the Hand With the end of the tournament season, three knights decide to try to make some money by capturing Robin Hood and claiming the reward. By posing as strolling players, they enter the outlaws' camp and work a neat trick. 3/31/1958 Elixir of Youth Sir Boland, in desperate need of money, promises the hand of his ward Melissa to Sir Louis, an elderly Norman, in spite of her being in love with Sir Boland's squire. When Friar Tuck hears of the young girl's plight, he asks Robin for help. 4/7/1958 The Genius Nicodemus, a brilliant mathematician, aware that Prince John covets the giant catapult that he has invented, escapes from the power of the Prince into Sherwood Forest, only to discover that his brother has been seized as a hostage by a rascally baron. 4/14/1958. The Youthful Menace Marian is disappointed to find that Edwin, her nephew that she has not seen for ten years, and who has just arrived from France, is scornful of Robin Hood and his band of outlaws. 4/21/1958

Vol. 28: The Minstrel With the help of a song, Robin and a minstrel named Roland manage to spoil Prince John's hopes of an alliance with the Prince of Aragon. 4/28/1958 The Doctor Little John breaks his leg escaping from the Sheriff's men. Robin and Friar Tuck carry him to the home of Sir George Woodley, who is being visited by a foreign doctor. 5/5/1958. The Lottery The Sheriff finds a neat and foolproof way of raising money for Prince John, by organising raffles. Foolproof that is, until Robin comes on the scene. 5/12/1958 The Fire During a lengthy drought, Little John and Derwent are cornered in a cave. The Sheriff, in trying to smoke them out, starts a fire which forces him to seek help from Robin. 5/19/1958.

Vol. 29: Lincoln Green Robin, Marian and Little John visit Master David of Lincoln to buy Lincoln Green cloth. The Sheriff follows, hoping for a chance to capture them, which he finds when Master Shanks, David's assistant, turns traitor. 5/26/1958. Woman's War Robin agrees to let two of his men accompany Ann de Brissac, a noblewoman, to a place where gold for King Richard is hidden. But Marian then arrives at the camp to explain that Ann is a spy for Prince John. So Robin has to set out to save his two men. 6/2/1958. Little Mother A trap is laid to catch Little John when he receives a message that his mother, a serf of the Duke of Retford, is very ill. But the brawny outlaw brings the house down about the plotter's ears. 6/9/58. Marian's Prize Robin's name is entered for an archery contest in the village of Northeave, but owing to his absence from camp, Marian has to go instead, in disguise. 6/16/1958.

Vol. 30: Farewell to Tuck The Sheriff has long suspected that Friar Tuck is in league with Robin Hood, and seizes an opportunity to get rid of him, when the archbishop looks for a good man to take over a parish in Sussex. 6/30/1958 Sybella The Earl of Steyne is ambushed by Baron Onslow. Onslow changes clothes with the dead Earl and rides to Nottingham with the Earls' letter of introduction from Robin to the King. 11/21/1959 The Flying Sorceror Lord Giles of Richmond sees an opportunity to increase his own wealth when he sees Lord Eilmer, an elderly, harmless eccentric, carrying out scientific experiments in the market-place. 11/28/1959 The Lady Killer Robin is out hunting with Derwent when he sees his old friend Will Scarlett stalking a deer. Before Robin can join him, two foresters arrive and arrest Will for poaching. 12/5/1959

A Touch of Fever Robin and his men capture three knights riding through Sherwood Forest. Difficulties arise when Marian recognises one of them as her cousin. 12/12/1959 The Devil You Don’t Know Robin and Will Scarlett are out searching for Alan-a-Dale, when they see a group of horsemen with a young yeoman prisoner. They decide to help the captive. 12/19/1959 A Bushel of Apples Robin uncovers Sir Watkyn's plot to extort large sums of money from the peasants. 7/17/1960 The Debt Robin searches for an outlaw, Martin, who has been posing as one of his men and robbing innocent people in the Sherwood area. 7/31/1960

Vol. 32: The Loaf The Sheriff learns that in London there is a great demand for flour. This gives him an idea that will improve his finances - though the Nottingham poor will suffer. 1/2/1960 Six Strings to His Bow Robin meets a strange knight playing a harp, and decides not to interrupt the newcomer until a crossbow bolt flies through the window, narrowly missing the knight. 1/9/1960 Tuck’s Love Day Friar Tuck is in trouble with his Abbot. He has been unable to collect money for the church. In despair, he goes to Robin for help and advice. 2/27/1960 The Truce The Deputy Sheriff is usually hostile to Robin, but now he wants his help. 7/24/1960

Vol. 33: The Oath The Deputy Sheriff suspects Friar Tuck of being in league with Robin Hood, and plans to trap the Friar. But he underestimates Tuck's intelligence. 8/7/1960 The Charm Pedlar A charm pedlar arrives in Nottingham. Friar Tuck discovers the man is a trickster, selling the villagers useless potions. Robin thinks of a plan to stop the pedlar's activities. 8/14/1960 Goodbye Little John Little John is angry to discover that his place as Robin's right-hand man has been taken by Will Scarlett. The Deputy Sheriff plans to take advantage of Little John's discontent. 8/21/1960 The Reluctant Rebel To gather first-hand knowledge of outlaw life for a journal he is writinng, Sir Geoffrey Claire and his manservant Herbert pose as outlaws, and join Robin Hood in Sherwood Forest. 8/28/1960 Vol. 34: The Bagpiper Duncan of Stoneykirk, the wild Highland clansman, is back in Sherwood Forest. He was rather troublesome on his last visit, not only to his enemies, but also to his friends. Will things be different this time? 9/4/1960 The Parting Guest Duncan of Stoneykirk is still the rather unwelcome guest of Robin and his men. His wild, unpredictable behavior and his interest in Marian are worrying to Robin. 9/11/1960 Hostage for a Hangman The Deputy Sheriff arranges a meeting with Robin and tells him that unless he surrenders, he will arrest two serfs the next morning and hang them. 9/18/1960 Hue and Cry The Deputy Sheriff is set upon by a masked man and his gold chain of office stolen. On learning the identity of his attacker, he orders nine men from a neighboring village to hunt him down. 9/25/1960

Vol. 35: The Champion Marian tells Robin that, following the death of her father, supposedly slain in the Holy Land, her estate is to be taken over, at the Sheriff's suggestion, by Sir Guy Quentin. But Robin has other ideas. 10/2/1960 The Edge and the Point Robin thinks his skill with the bow is without equal - until a former crusader, Boland, makes an appearance in Sherwood Forest. 10/8/1960 A Race Against Time Robin gets an important message from the Duchess of Brittany, who is taking the King's son to Northumberland to be received as the rightful heir to the throne. Fearing trouble from Prince John, she wants Robin and his men to escort them. 10/15/1960 The Pharoah Stones A pedlar sells Little John three dice-like stones, which, he claims, tell the owner his fortune. Little John puts them to the test, and is convinced of their mysterious powers. 10/22/1960

Vol. 36: Bride for an Outlaw Sir Bligh Denton, a wealthy merchant, learns that his daughter Judith's suitor plans to visit her. Robin, escaping from the Sheriff's men, enters the house and is mistaken for the man. 10/29/1960 Double Trouble Friar Tuck's identical twin brother, Edgar, is back in Nottingham. Edgar is a rogueish fellow, and has agreed to help the Deputy Sheriff to trap Robin Hood. 11/5/1960 Trapped Sir Marmont seizes travelers, tries them on false charges, and if they are unable to pay the heavy fine he imposes, sentences them to work for him. Robin Hood then falls into his clutches. 11/12/1960 The Buccaneers Robert Shaw stars in this well-made, rousing British adventure series of the mid-50s. Taking place in the early 18th century, in the British Caribbean colony of New Providence (The Bahamas), episodes revolved around ex-pirate raider Dan Tempest (Shaw), who has accepted a pardon from King George, and the job of defending the islands, in his trusty ship ‘The Sultana’, along with a rag-tag crew.

Vol. 1: Blackbeard 9/22/1956 Captain Woodes Rogers – Newly appointed Colonial Governor of The British Colony Of New Providence – Arrives with an official pardon, from King George, for all pirates. Most of the pirates accept the King’s offer, but Blackbeard and his gang resist, make a getaway, and scheme to have Rogers’ own ship attack the island. Captain Dan Tempest 10/6/1956 Dan Tempest – Having ignored The King’s offer of a pardon – Returns to New Providence with a cargo of plunder, and is arrested, tried, convicted, and sentenced to hang. But Governor Rogers gives him a last-minute chance to go straight, which Tempest accepts, and he begins his new life as an ex-pirate, by taking a cargo of goods to Carolina, facing and defeating Blackbeard, on the way. Before the Mast 12/1/1956 Spanish pirate raider El Supremo hatches a plan to overtake the Felicity – An English ship due to arrive soon with badly needed supplies for New Providence. After the pirates disable the Sultana, Tempest poses as a pirate and, with the help of Dickon, sabotages the pirate ship. The Articles of War 12/15/1956 A Spanish Captain offers to allow food deliveries to New Providence, in exchange for the release of a Spanish Count, imprisoned on the island. When Beamish refuses, Gaff and Taffy deliver Armando, posing as the Count. But, the Spaniard doesn’t fall for it, and holds Armando prisoner, forcing Beamish to turn over the real Count. However, Armando saves them the trouble, when he escapes, and single-handedly destroys the Spanish ship.

Vol. 2: Dead Man’s Rock 1/19/1957 To spare Nassau from destruction, Beamish secretly surrenders to a Spanish Captain, and, when Dickon tries to stop him, he is taken prisoner, as well. They are taken to a prison, in Cuba, where Beamish is pressed for information on a certain English convoy, due to sail soon. When Tempest finds out, he and Crew must ready the Sultana – Which has been laid up for repairs – And sail her to Cuba, with a plan to rescue Beamish and Dickon. Dangerous Cargo 2/2/1957 Tempest is assigned to see that the Wife of the Governor of Barbados – Lady Hilary Winrod – Is delivered safely to her Husband, along with a top secret message from the British Admiralty. Knowing of Dan’s past as a Buccaneer, Hilary is reluctant to accompany him, and later tries to escape. But she changes her mind about Dan, after he rescues her from a Spanish Captain, and completes the mission to Barbados. Conquistador 2/20/1957 A Spaniard by the name of Don Estaban has overtaken the Sultana, and holds Tempest and Crew prisoner on their own ship. Estaban then executes a scheme to turn the people of New Providence against Tempest, while he consorts with Van Brugh in a plan to demand a ransom from Beamish. Conquest of New Providence 3/6/1957 Tempest and Crew return from a long voyage, to find that New Providence has fallen to Don Estaban and his Conquistadors. Tempest makes his way ashore, and, with the help of Armando’s Wife, Maria, devises a plan to re-take the island, which is complicated by a traitor, in the British ranks.

Vol. 3: Cutlass Wedding 3/20/1957 Fed up with the lack, on New Providence, of men willing to marry, Miss Abigail, and some of the lady settlers buy a longboat, and row for Jamaica, in the hope of catching a ship back to England. Tempest and Crew give chase, and catch up with them on a small island, where they must rescue them from some French pirates, who are holding them prisoner, and intend to sell them as slaves. Aztec Treasure 3/27/1957 Tempest and Crew encounter a Sailor by the name of Martin, who claims to know the whereabouts of the Aztec treasure known as The Fiery Mirror – A huge, solid gold wheel, as thick as a man’s fist. Tempest agrees to go looking for it, and, when he and Martin find it, and try to take it, they are held prisoner, and put on trial, by Indians, for the attempted theft. Instrument of War 5/29/1957 Summoned to an island prison off Carolina, Dan is asked to transport a Scottish prisoner to the Commissioner at Port Royal, to argue the case of unjustly-jailed Scots. Dan agrees to help, but gets caught in the act, and soon lands in prison, along with his intended passenger, awaiting the hangman’s noose. But they call the other Highlanders to their aid, with an unusual, but very powerful instrument of war. Pirate Honor 6/5/1957 During a shore leave, in Georgetown, Dan and Crew go to the aid of the Son and Widow of an old shipmate of Dan’s, who are being pressured by a corrupt official to reveal the whereabouts of a stash of buried treasure.

Vol. 4: Blood Will Tell 1/26/1957 Van Brugh produces a young man claiming to be Lord Percy Gresham – The true owner of Gresham island – A critical outpost for the defense of New Providence. But Tempest knows that the real Percy Gresham is dead, and he and Crew try to thwart Van Brugh’s plan, by producing an impostor of their own. Dan Tempest & the Amazons 12/8/1957 Seven English women revolt against their French captors, take over their ship, and hole up on a deserted island. Tempest and Crew sail to their rescue, but quickly find that the women are tougher than they appear. Rather than risk bloodshed on either side, they allow themselves to be taken prisoner, so that they can all return peacefully to Nassau, strictly under the women’s terms. The Decoy 5/25/1957 Dan and Crew encounter a woman with a story about her husband being held captive by pirates on a deserted island. At first, Dan thinks it’s a trick, to lure them to the island, along with their valuable cargo, but he soon finds that the woman’s story is truth, and that her predicament is part of a complicated plot – Involving Governor Johnson, of South Carolina, and an old foe of Dan’s, known as The Turk – To take possession of her prosperous plantation, and steal The Sultana’s valuable cargo. Dan Tempest’s War With Spain 10/13/1956 Lt. Beamish, just named Governor of New Providence, prepares to welcome the commander of a Spanish galleon. His inexperience and trusting nature make him a good mark for the wily Spaniard, whose visit is not a friendly one. Vol. 5: The Wasp 10/20/1956 A young scalawag from Blackbeard’s crew – Caught during a raid on Nassau – Is sentenced by Beamish to serve as Cabin Boy on Tempest’s ship. But the boy makes a run for it, returns to Blackbeard, and tries to talk him into applying for a job as a Privateer for The Crown. Tempest agrees to meet with Blackbeard, but Blackbeard doesn’t come alone, as agreed, and captures Tempest. But he soon escapes, with the help of the boy. The Ladies 11/17/1956 The men on New Providence are looking forward to the arrival of some new female settlers, due the following day, on a ship called The Caroline. But, after a disgruntled Sailor leaks the news to Blackbeard, Tempest and his Crew put to sea, to meet with the Caroline, and Tempest puts together an ingenious plan to foil Blackbeard, and see the women safely to their new home. Marooned 12/29/1956 Taken prisoner on the Sultana, after a raid on Nassau, a smooth-talking English pirate, by the name of Clip West, cons a gullible Sultana Sailor into helping him and his Crew take over the ship. They then maroon Tempest and his Crew on a deserted island, but, with the help of a former member of West’s Crew, they build a raft, sail to West’s hideout, and scheme to take West and his crew prisoners again. Mr. Beamish & Hangman’s Noose 1/12/1957 After Beamish is imprisoned by the new Colonial Governor, under false charges, brought by Van Brugh, Dan allows himself to be arrested and jailed, as part of a plan to have Beamish released, and to nail the crooked Governor. Vol. 6: The Return of Calico Jack 2/9/1957 Calico Jack Rackam takes advantage of Tempest’s absence, and consorts with Van Brugh, in a plan to steal the Sultana’s cargo of valuable goods from the Merchants of New Providence. Beamish and acting-Skipper Gaff must then cooperate with one another, in order to thwart the plan. Ghost Ship 2/16/1957 Tempest and Crew encounter a seemingly deserted ship, which, unbeknownst to them, is a front for a gang of pirates, used to lure innocent Seamen away from their ships. After Dickon is taken prisoner on the ‘ghost ship’ the pirates slip away, but Dan devises a plan to lure them back, so that they can rescue Dickon, and arrest the pirates. Hurricane 3/16/1957 After a hurricane devastates Nassau, funds are desperately needed to rebuild. Tempest learns of a Spanish Treasury ship that has run aground, in the storm, on a nearby island and he and Crew set sail to find it. While Gaff tries to divert the Spaniards’ attention, in the Sultana, Tempest and Armando try to recover the treasure, with the help of some native islanders. To the Rescue 5/18/1957 Dan and Crew are summoned to Savannah by Paula Meadows, to try to help Paula’s Uncle to get a fair price for his tobacco crop. The Uncle is bound, by law, to accept the unfairly low price, offered by The South Carolina Trading Company, and his crop is being held in the Governor’s warehouse. So, Dan comes up with a scheme to get hold of the tobacco, and get a fair price for it, by utilizing Maritime Law. Vol. 7: Whale Gold 10/27/1956 Tempest and his Crew – With the help of a grizzled old sea dog named Pat – Search for a substance known as ambergris – A rare, and extremely valuable secretion of the sperm whale. When Pat tells of the riches that can be had with the substance – Commonly called ‘Whale Gold’ – Greed takes over. Gunpowder Plot 11/10/1956 New Providence is critically low on gunpowder, but The Admiralty won’t deliver ahead of schedule. The next delivery for New Providence is still months away, so Tempest devises a clever, complicated, and harmless scheme to procure the badly needed ordnance. Surgeon of Sangre Rojo 11/24/1956 An epidemic of typhus strikes New Providence, and Beamish imposes a quarantine, until a Surgeon can be brought in. Tempest and Armando sneak away, and row to the Spanish-held island of Sangre Rojo, where they pose as Indians, arrest a Spanish Surgeon, and take him back to New Providence. Mistress Higgins’ Treasure 5/11/1957 While trying to sneak into a Virginia port to deliver some farm tools, without paying the unfair taxes on them, Dan and Crew – With the help of a local Schoolmarm – Uncover a racket involving outrageously high export fees, and the looting of cargo ships. Ramar of the Jungle (1953-1954) A missionaries' son, Tom Reynolds (Jon Hall), returns to the jungle as a doctor where he treats natives and takes care of badguys, aided by Prof. Ogden (Ray Montgomery). "Ramar" means "White Medicine Man."

Vol. 1 King of the Watus 12/4/1953 Tom, Prof. Ogden and Willy accompany a woman into the lands of the fierce Watus tribe as she searches for her missing husband. Lady of the Leopards 8/8/1953 Dr. Reynolds finds a woman dressed only in leopard skins who is held captive by her husband. The husband explains that during a full moon, the woman turns into a man-eating leopard. A suspicious Reynolds determines to find out the truth of the man's claims. The Devil Soul 1/16/1953 Ogden and Reynolds come upon a local funeral, and are shocked to see that the "dead" man on the funeral pyre is very much alive. The natives believe that they have just seen the "walking dead", but Reynolds and Ogden think otherwise. The Tiger's Claw 2/13/1954 A plantation owner is killed in an apparent tiger attack, but Reynolds and Prof. Ogden don't believe it was a tiger. They set out to determine who the real killer is before they themselves become the next victims.

Vol. 2 Dark Venture 12/12/1953 A beautiful but evil scientist plans to test her latest discovery, atomic gas, on the local natives. Dr. Reynolds finds out about her despicable scheme and sets out to stop her. Voice from the Past 9/5/1953 Dr. Reynolds treats a man whose wife has just died in an accident. When the natives begin hearing voices coming out of the darkness and see what they believe to be ghosts, they fear that the man's dead wife has come back to take vengeance for her death. Urn of Destiny 1/23/1954 After an American explorer removes the the sacred "Urn of Destiny" from the Tomb of Akara, he is suddenly seized by murderous rages, but then has no recollection of anything that he has done. Baffled, Dr. Reynolds consults with a local doctor, who tells him that the explorer's condition is brought on by the urn itself, which is cursed. The Forbidden Village 2/20/1954 While traveling through the jungle in search of the Forbidden Village, Ogden and Reynolds come upon an American photographer who has just been chased from the village. The villagers believe that the photographer's presence has caused an outbreak of plague, and are threatening to kill anyone who comes to the village. Reynolds knows that he must enter the village to try to save the plague victims, even under the penalty of death.

Vol. 3: Mark of Shaitan 6/27/1953 Prof. Ogden is attacked by a member of the sinister Shaitan devil-worshiping cult, and when he awakes he has the mark of Shaitan burned into his hand. The legend is that when the mark disappears the person will die, and as the symbol begins to fade away, Ogden gets sicker and sicker. Dr. Reynolds must race against time to unlock the secrets of the Shaitan cult before Ogden dies. Mark of the Bola 7/18/1953 A safari ends disastrously when all the native guides and their leader are mysteriously murdered. The only survivor is the leader's wife, and the superstitious natives believe she is a witch who caused the disaster, and demand her death. Dr. Reynolds protects her while trying to find out what really happened on the safari. Curse of the Devil Doll 7/25/1953 Chief Matumbo sends for Dr. Reynolds to try to help an explorer who is dying from a mysterious illness. When the doctor arrives at the village, however, the natives try to kill him. It turns out that the dying man is holding a secret that someone is trying to make him tell using voodoo, and Reynolds must find out what that secret is in order to discover who is using the voodoo on him. Learning of the circumstances from the dying mailman, Ramar sets out to stop the two men from stealing the mine from its rightful owners, and most likely killing them while they're at it. Vol. 6: Drums of the Jungle 5/2/1953 An American trader can't convince the chief to exchange their ivory for gold. However, the village's corrupt witch doctor is more than happy to make the trade and, unknown to the chief, strikes a deal with the trader to steal the tribe's ivory in exchange for the gold. To cover his tracks, though, the witch doctor frames another tribesman for the crime--the chief's son, who happens to be a friend of Ramar's. White Man's Magic 8/29/1953 Conway, a somewhat crazed ventriloquist, wanders into Ramar's camp after having been lost in the jungle. The natives, seeing Conway's dummy, believe it to be a god, steal it, and bring it to their village to worship on a shrine. When Conway risks his life to get the dummy back, Ramar begins to suspect that the dummy may be filled with stolen radium. The Golden Tablet 8/1/1953 Dr. Reynolds and a beautiful young woman run into a greedy explorer who believes that the inscription on a golden tablet he discovered is the to a treasure of unimaginable wealth, and he will stop at nothing--including murder--to get the tablet translated. The Flaming Mountain 7/22/1953 While archaeologists are attempting to recover a golden tablet, they are captured by natives, who accuse them of breaking a sacred taboo.
