It is a checklist and reference for the personal use of members, such as a check off of courses you have taken or courses you may want to take in the future. It is also a catalog for our offline members. RETIRED or PENDING Colleges do not appear here. Since there may be new Courses and Colleges or a change in personnel since this document was released (and before the next update) please consult the STARFLEET Academy web site for the most current listings. You now have two ways of requesting courses from STARFLEET Academy: 1) E-mail the director and ask for the exams you want. Students who live outside the USA are encouraged to conduct their studies by e-mail. * 2) Send a letter to the director indicating what exams you want. If you are going to conduct your correspondence by mail, please send the required tuition and stamps stated on the college web page. This covers all expenses the director incurs by sending you exams and diplomas through the USPS. Directors who live outside the USA will have “postal buddies” inside the US to handle mail from the USA. Your request must include, at a minimum: Name, SCC#, and Course number/title being requested. * * NOTE: If there has been a director change since this issue of the printed catalog, most former directors will forward your mail or e-mail to the right person. Course directors have real-world lives too, so please be patient. However, if you have not heard from the director in 8 weeks (by postal mail) or 2 weeks (by e-mail), contact Carol Thompson at [email protected] . • Melinda's Star Trek Las Vegas Convention Report / Aug 9-12, 2007
melinda’s star trek las vegas convention report / aug 9-12, 2007 the las vegas star trek convention was the first large scale convention that i have attended. from what i’ve read, there were close to 4,000 fans in attendance. what a remarkable testament to this beloved franchise. it’s been over 20 years since i went to a convention, so i was more than a little excited for this big trip. wednesday, august 8th my good friend, karen, and i arrived in vegas on wednesday night and pre-registered. thank goodness for pre-registration the night before the convention because the lines the next day to register were ridiculously long! when we first walked through the large convention area, giant star trek banners of the various crews in the star trek series were hanging on the walls. one very large banner had all the guests pictured that would be appearing at the convention. after grabbing a bite to eat, it was on to the “chocolate on the edge of forever” welcoming party where they had all kinds of chocolate goodies. tim russ (tuvok from voyager) was performing with his band as the entertainment. i really had no idea that tim russ was a singer and a guitar player, and i was impressed with his talent. after he ended his set, he stayed and signed copies of his cd that he was selling and graciously posed for pictures with fans for quite some time. it was a very casual setting. while tim russ signed, there was also a karaoke contest going on, and the fans had a lot of fun with that.

  • The Resettlement of the Karen in Minnesota A
THE RESETTLEMENT OF THE KAREN IN MINNESOTA A DISSERTATION SUBMITTED TO THE FACULTY OF THE GRADUATE SCHOOLOF THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA BY Kathleen J Lytle IN PARTIAL FULFILLMENT OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR THE DEGREE OF DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY David Hollister, Adviser January, 2015 Kathleen J Lytle 2015 Copyright This thesis is dedicated to: My husband Allen, who walked with me on this journey; My mom Helen, who has always been the most inspiring role model; My children Kari, Jeff, and Laurie; And the Karen people of Minnesota i Abstract Minnesota has a long history of welcoming immigrants and refugees into its communities. Following the Vietnam War large numbers of Southeast Asian (SEA) refugees came to Minnesota. With the implementation of the Refugee Act of 1980, a formal refugee resettlement program was created nation-wide. As part of the Refugee Act of 1980 Voluntary agencies (VOLAGs), were established to help the refugees with their resettlement process. Soon after the arrival of refugees from Laos, Vietnam and Cambodia, refugees from other countries began coming to Minnesota. In the 1990s refugees from the former Soviet Union began resettling in Minnesota. In the mid 1990s refugees from East Africa began arriving. In the early 2000s, large numbers of Karen refugees from Burma began coming to Minnesota. In order to help the Karen refugees in their acculturation, it is important for the community within which they are living to understand them and their culture. Using an ethnographic approach, this qualitative research project is aimed at understanding the lived experiences of the Karen and their resettlement.

CALLAHAN** Normally, society is organized for life; the object of Leviathan was to organise it for production. J.S. Furnivall [1939: 124] Abstract This article examines the construction of the colonial security apparatus in Burma, within the broader British colonial project in eastern Asia. During the colonial period, the state in Burma was built by default, as no one in London or India ever mapped out a strategy for establishing governance in this outpost. Instead of sending in legal, commercial or police experts to establish law and order—the preconditions of the all-important commerce— Britain sent the Indian Army, which faced an intensity and landscape of guerilla resistance never anticipated. Early forays into the establishment of law and order increasingly became based on conceptions of the population as enemies to be pacified, rather than subjects to be incorporated into or even ignored by the newly defined political entity. The character of armed administration in colonial Burma had a disproportionate impact on how that popula- tion came to be regarded, treated, legalized and made into subjects of the Raj.

The time has come to deal the enemy a terrific blow in Western Europe. The blow will be struck by the combined sea, land and air forces of the Allies-together constituting one great Alled team, under the supreme command of General Eisenhower. 2. On the eve of this great adventure I send my best wishes to every soldier in the Allied team. To us is given the honour of striking a blow for freedom which will live in history; and in the better days that lie ahead men will speak with pride of our doings. We have a great and a righteous cause. Let us pray that “ The Lord Mighty in Battle “ will go forth with our armies, and that His special providence will aid us in the struggle. 3. I want every soldier to know that I have complete confidence in the successful outcome of the operations that we are now about to begin. With stout hearts, and with enthusiasm for the contest, let us go forward to victory. 4. And, as we enter the battle, let us recall the words of a famous soldier spoken many years ago:- “ He either fears his fate too much, Or his deserts are small, Who dare not put it to the touch, To win or lose it all.” 5.

  • My Drift Title: Mark Harmon Written By: Jerry D
My Drift Title: Mark Harmon Written by: Jerry D. Petersen Date: 15 October 2019 Article Number: 319-2019-17 Besides Jeopardy! and Wheel of Fortune and most all Sports, the two regular TV shows I like to watch are NCIS and Criminal Minds. I decided to write this article about someone from these shows and I picked Mark Harmon because I find his life to be the most interesting. Family Thomas Mark Harmon was born in Burbank, California on September 2, 1951, which makes him 68 years old. He was the youngest of three children. His parents were Heisman Trophy–winning football player and broadcaster Tom Harmon and actress, model, artist, and fashion designer Elyse Knox. Harmon’s two older sisters are the late actress and painter Kristin Nelson, who was divorced from the late singer Rick Nelson, and actress and model Kelly Harmon, formerly married to car magnate John DeLorean. Yes, Mark’s dad was a famous football player at the Mark Harmon’s Parents University of Michigan. He played the halfback position Tom Harmon and wife from 1938 to 1940. He led the nation in scoring and was Elyse Knox a consensus All-American in both 1939 and 1940 and won the Heisman Trophy, the Maxwell Award, and the Associated Press Athlete of the Year award in 1940. His nickname was "Old 98" which I find somewhat unusual for a halfback! He played in the NFL for the Los Angeles Rams for a couple of seasons. He was also a military pilot and a sports broadcaster. He died at age 70 in Los Angeles.
