2021 Maine East Summer Athletic Camp Schedule 2021 Summer Athletic Camps - Policies and Procedures Participant Eligibility Maine East H.S. students and registered incoming Freshmen may participate in the Summer Athletic Program. Grade/age level is often designated in the title or description of each camp. Grade level is defined as the grade the student will enter in the fall. For any student, you must live in the Maine East attendance area to attend an athletic summer camp at Maine East High School. Registration 1. All registrations must be done online. Registration is available at the following link: https://maineeast.8to18.com 2. If you choose to use a credit card, the company will be charging a small fee. Otherwise, you can write an electronic check (with your bank routing and account numbers) for no additional charge. 3. You will get an email confirmation immediately after registering your child. 4. If you use a credit card, it will be processed immediately. 5. If you are paying by cash, FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS: Register on-line as if you are paying with credit or an e-check. When you get to the payment portion, click on the “Alternate Payment (CODE)” button. On the next page, type in cash payment (no capitals, no spaces), and in the comment area below that, type in CASH PAYMENT. You will then receive instructions on how to make a cash payment at Maine EAST or send them directly to the main entrance and then to the bookstore. Camp Fees Athletic camps have a mandatory fee for the availability of the certified athletic trainer integrated into the cost. This is for emergency situations and the safety of the athletes. All camp fees also include registration fees. PAYING WITH A BANK ROUTING & ACCOUNT NUMBER WILL SAVE FEES! Credit card transactions will have an additional fee, so use a checking/savings account to pay and save money if possible. Refunds Full refund of all fees will occur if a camp is cancelled. Full refund minus the processing fee ($15) will be granted if the refund is requested prior to the start date of the camp. NO REFUNDS CAN OR WILL BE GRANTED AFTER A CAMP HAS BEGUN . Fees for Individuals who Receive Free/Reduced Lunch (Minimum Camp Fee is $25.00) The camp fees for current high school students who qualified for Free Meals at Maine East in the 2021-22 (NOT INCOMING FRESHMEN) school term will be reduced by 50% of the athletic camp fee or $60 (whichever is less). The fee for current high school students who qualified for Reduced Meals at Maine East in the 2021-22 school term will be reduced by 25% of the athletic camp fee, or $30 (whichever is less). There will be no other reductions in the participation cost for students. This waiver only applies for current Maine East students. This waiver does not apply to incoming freshmen. The minimum fee for camps is $25 and no reduction can be made beyond that point. Those who qualify for fee reduction must register using the code word: fee2020 (case sensitive) in section 6 of the on-line registration process. Insurance Requirements Accident insurance must be provided by each participant to cover any and all injuries/accidents that may result from practice, competition, or any activity related to participation as part of this program. Please complete the insurance information/confirmation during registration. Student Accident Insurance is available for a small fee through the school as well. Summer Camp Registration Hotline – 847-803-5905 Please call this number and leave a message for any question regarding registration. Please contact camp COACH to find out if a camp will be canceled due to weather. The athletic office will not be able to provide this information. Camp dates will not be made up if they are canceled due to weather. Weather Cancellations Any cancellations/changes due to weather will be communicated through the coaches of the program and not through the hotline or athletic office. A review of Marcin’s transcript will show that he is an outstanding and highly motivated student, as evidenced by his classroom performance. He has consistently taken a full schedule of accelerated and Advanced Placement courses with an emphasis in math and science. As a sophomore he took AP European History and AP Calculus BC; as a junior he took AP Language and Composition, AP U.S. History, AP Physics 1, and Multivariable Calculus and Differentiated Equations; this year he is enrolled in AP Literature and Composition, AP Psychology, AP Statistics, and AP Physics C. Additionally, he completed three years of Spanish at the accelerated level, and has been a four-year member of East’s Gifted Lyceum and band programs (more about that later). Although the focus of tonight’s recognition is on extra-curricular achievement, we can’t overlook Marcin’s academic performance. Chris has taken a number of Advanced Placement and Dual Credit courses including AP Biology, AP Calculus BC, AP Statistics, AP Language and Composition, AP Macro/Micro Economics, AP Physics 1, Virtual Enterprise International (she was selected as CEO), College Accounting Accelerated, and Entrepreneurship to name just a few.     MAINE EAST HIGH SCHOOL Proposed Building Improvements The 89-year-old Maine East building lacks a secure front entrance. The floor plan is extremely dated and there are accessibility issues throughout the school. Reconfiguration of classrooms and labs will promote collaborative learning and leverage instructional technology. While the special education, fine arts, career and technical education, and athletics programs have evolved, the facility has not and the proposed plan addresses those needs. Plan Highlights: Proposed Floor Plans • Construct a new secure front entrance to prevent visitors from entering the high school before being cleared by personnel. • Replace outdated plumbing, electrical and mechanical systems to extend the useful life of the existing building, reducing costly Third Level emergency repairs and improve energy efficiency. • Update classrooms and labs to create flexible learning spaces that leverage instructional technology, allow for new teaching methods and promote collaboration. • Relocate the offices of the counselors, deans, psychologists and other support personnel into one area of building. This will enhance student access to these important services while also maintaining student privacy/confidentiality. Second Level • Right size and relocate the special education spaces to better meet the needs of students in these programs. • Expand and update the undersized fine arts spaces. • Create collaboration zones throughout the school for students to study individually and in small groups. Main Level • Relocate and improve the Library Media Center to increase functionality and access by all students and staff. • Add an elevator to the East section of the building to provide access to the second floor athletic areas. • Provide a first-floor, handicapped-accessible hallway connecting west wing of the school to center court, improving students’ traffic flow and access throughout.

The program, now in its 3rd year, draws on the Chicago Tribune Sports team to nominate athletes and community members – including coaches, athletic directors, teachers, students and parents -- to vote for their favorite athletes. Maine East High School is one such school.
