Through Tits services the work of Christ as our High Priest and sacrificial Lamb was clearly portrayed. This vision was meant to captivate the minds of God’s people and draw them closer to Him. Let us pause for a moment to recapture that vision. “But we see Jesus, who was made a little lower than the angels for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honor; that He by the grace of God should taste death for every man.” Hebrews 2:9. “Wherefore in all things it behooved Him to be made like unto His brethren, that He might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people. For in that He Himself hath suffered being tempted, He is able to succor them that are tempted.” Hebrews 2:17, 18. “Seeing then that we have a great High Priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an High Priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:14–16 (emphasis supplied).

In the presence of this frightening pandemic that dominates news-media outlets and personal agendas, one cannot help experiencing a strange mel- ancholy sweeping in its scope of influence. We experience the prompting to succumb to a fearful or pessimistic view of life’s possibilities, fueled by nervousness surrounding the possibility of dying from COVID-19. Much of the mania we see around us threatens to erode our belief in a Supreme Being who is in charge of everything. In a sense, the frightening times in which we live are eroding the God factor in our lives. However, when we look at the situation from God’s perspective, there is joy, because God stood out on nothingness and spoke humanity into existence. uture ews FVolume 13, Issue 9 n September 2009 The Unseen Watcher Prophets and Kings, 524 “Through the folly and weakness of Belshazzar, the grandson of Nebuchadnezzar, proud Babylon was soon to fall. Admitted in his youth to a share in kingly authority, Belshazzar gloried in his power and lifted up his heart against the God of heaven. Many had been his opportunities to know the divine will and to understand his responsibility of rendering obedience thereto. He had known of his grandfather‘s banishment, by the decree of God, from the society of men; and he was familiar with Nebuchadnezzar‘s conversion and miraculous restoration. But Belshazzar allowed the love of pleasure and self-glorification to efface the lessons that he should never have forgotten. He wasted the opportunities graciously granted him, and neglected to use the means within his reach for becoming more fully acquainted with truth. That which Nebuchadnezzar had finally gained at the cost of untold suffering and humiliation, Belshazzar passed by with indifference… “Little did Belshazzar think that there was a heavenly Witness to his idolatrous revelry; that a divine Watcher, unrecognized, looked upon the scene of profanation, heard the sacrilegious mirth, beheld the idolatry. But soon the uninvited Guest made His presence felt. When the revelry was at its height a bloodless hand came forth and traced upon the walls of the palace characters that gleamed like fire—words which, though unknown to the vast throng, were a portent of doom to the now conscience-stricken king and his guests. “Hushed was the boisterous mirth, while men and women, seized with nameless terror, watched the hand slowly tracing the mysterious characters.

As we enter the end of the year and decade numbered 2020, the prospects of a perfect 20/20 vision fades with the receding days. We are very grateful for your patience during these past challenging months and pray you will experience a safe, healthy holiday season and a very prosperous New Year! A story is told about a shipwreck that happened because a sailor broke off the small tip of his knife blade while he was cleaning the ship’s compass. He didn’t remove it, and that little bit of metal pulled the compass off its true reading, resulting in the ship running aground. If you’ve ever done any sailing, you know how essential it is to stay on course. If the captain steers just a few degrees off the desired course, the company, even of committed companions, can wind up far from where they wanted to go. Since being given the privilege of steering this great Doctor of Ministry ship toward our goal of excellence by doing something extraordinary, I’ve come to realize that even a slight deviation from our course, if left uncorrected, can result in great devastation.
