    Communication licences Fact sheet Communication licence rent In November 2018, the NSW Premier had the Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal (IPART) undertake a review of Rental arrangements for communication towers on Crown land. In November 2019, IPART released its final report to the NSW Government. To provide certainty to tenure holders while the government considers the report, implementation of any changes to the current fee structure will apply from the next renewal or review on or after 1 July 2021. In the interim, all communication tenures on Crown land will be managed under the 2013 IPART fee schedule, or respective existing licence conditions, adjusted by the consumer price index where applicable. In July 2014, the NSW Government adopted all 23 recommendations of the IPART 2013 report, including a rental fee schedule. Visit www.ipart.nsw.gov.au to see the IPART 2013 report. Density classification and rent calculation The annual rent for communication facilities located on a standard site depends on the type of occupation and the location of the facilities. In line with the IPART 2013 report recommendations, NSW is divided into four density classifications, and these determine the annual rent for each site. Table 1 defines these classifications. Annexure A further details the affected local government areas and urban centres and localities (UCLs) of the classifications. Figure 1 shows the location of the classifications. A primary user of a site who owns and maintains the communication infrastructure will incur the rent figures in Table 2. A co-user of a site will be charged rent of 50% that of a primary user.

The 5MT Grant is structured to support all Councils in Greater Sydney to plant trees and increase tree canopy cover in their communities. Planting more trees will create a healthier, more liveable and greener Greater Sydney. The 5MT Grant will also support Councils with funding to care and manage trees through their establishment period. Eligible Projects Q.     MEDIA RELEASE 25 August 2020 Good news for local waterways as builders and renovators Get the Site Right Builders, developers and home renovators are more successfully implementing erosion and sediment controls on building sites to protect our local waterways, according to results from the recent Get the Site Right education and compliance campaign. In June 2020, the NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA) and 14 local councils inspected more than 600 sites across Sydney and the Central Coast. Almost three quarters (73%) of the sites inspected were compliant. This is compared to the May 2019 campaign where only 63% of sites inspected were managing their sites adequately. A total of $189,484 in fines was issued to non-compliant sites. Offences ranged from no controls in place at all and unprotected soil stockpiles in locations where they could be washed away, to minor offences such as ruptured sediment bags and inadequate sweeping of roads and driveways. Sediment runoff fills our creeks, rivers and harbours with dirt, soil, sand and mud. This leads to poorer water quality, affecting swimming and leisure activities in and around waterways. It also degrades aquatic habitats by smothering marine plants and animals. Sediment runoff can also block stormwater drains leading to flooding and overflows and erosion of creeks and riverbanks. The improvement in compliance rates is encouraging in light of the increase in home renovation and DIY projects stemming from COVID-19 restrictions and introduction of government stimulus packages for builders and renovators. PRCG Chair, Cr Mark Drury, said that he was pleased by the growing number of builders and developers who were contributing to improving waterway health by preventing sediment runoff from leaving their sites and being washed into stormwater drains and out to our creeks and rivers.
