Visitors will have the opportunity to gain a detailed understanding of the work done on behalf of UK sheep farmers with displays and information on the latest wool prices and the various aspects of the organisation’s work.

This includes marketing and promotion and the valuable work of training new shearers. Staff and BWMB representatives will be on hand to discuss and answer any questions from producers. IBERS Stand Featuring the PROSOIL Project: Welsh Livestock producers working together with IBERS to tackle the challenges of soil management NSA WELSH SHEEP YOUNG SHEPHERD OF THE YEAR COMPETITION SPONSORED BY RUMENCO This award is designed to test the entrants’ shepherding skills in a pentathlon of activities. Each entrant will be required to classify carcases, shearing, vaccinating and dosing techniques. Their ATV skills will also be tested and they will be questioned on flock management and health issues.

The competition winner will qualify to represent Wales at the European Young Shepherd of the Year Competition in Ireland later this year. He or she will then go on to represent NSA Cymru/Wales Region at the national Finals at NSA Sheep 2016 at Malvern.

NSA Wales Region will cover all travel and accommodation costs for the Welsh Region representative to attend NSA Sheep 2016 in Malvern.

AWARDS: Prize money at stake for the NSA Welsh Sheep Young Shepherd of the Year at NSA Welsh Sheep 2015: First prize is £275 plus NSA Trophy, with a £150 Second prize, 3rd £75, 4th £50 with prize cards to 6th Water Trough Sheep Footbath place.
