However a number of challenges hampered the development of sesame sector along the market. Therefore this study was initiated to analyze the determinants of sesame market supply by farm household in the study area. Both primary and secondary data were used for the study. Primary data were collected from 123 farm households selected randomly through semi structured questionnaire. Secondary data were collected by reviewing documents from different sources. Econometric model were used to analyze the data. The result of the multiple linear regression model indicated that seven variables namely Land allocated under sesame, sesame yield, family size, extension contact, credit access and market information influenced market supply of sesame positively while distance to the nearest market center was found to have a significant negative effect on sesame market supply. The finding suggests that, Strengthening Institutions that convey reliable and timely market information; strengthening extension system through training in all aspect and design financial institutions to address the challenges of financial access to smallholder farmers and traders.

Box, 01, Tarcha, Ethiopia [email protected] Abstract:This study attempted to describe and analyze the derivational morphology of Dawro, an Omotic language that belongs to the North Ometo cluster (Fleming, 1976) in Southern Nation Nationalities and People Regional State. The study examines the word formation processes involved in the derivation of nouns, verbs, adjectives, and compounding and reduplication. To that end the researcher used descriptive research type through qualitative approaches used to collect and analyses the data. Consequently, primary data on word formation processes was collected through unstructured linguistic data elicitation tool to the selected six key informants. The study, investigated the processes of nominalization, including the derivation of manner, abstract, action and result nominal derivations. Regarding derivation of verbs, the study presents the derivation of causative, passives and reciprocals. In the formation of adjectival, the study analyses adjectives formed from different derivational suffixes, such as -ttiya, -ma, -a, -o, -e, -iya and -anča. The study also discussed the processes of compounding, the formation of compound nouns and compound adjectives. Methodology Figure 1: Cluster (Source: IGAD) Data collection particularly focused on interviews and focus group discussions at Zone level (in Jinka) and then in four Woredas (Salamago, Hamer, Dassenech and Nyangatom). Three focus group discussions were held in Hamer and Dassenech Woredaseach with representatives of elders, young herdsmen and women. We started doing interviews, document collection and observations in South Omo on August 1. In the first three days (August 1 to August 3), we interviewed officials and experts from various departments of the South Omo Zone government in Jinka. On August 4, we travelled to Hanna, Salamago Woredato do more interviews and also observe situations in the villages and sugar plantations of the Bodi. We did more interviews in Jinka on August 5, and went to Hamer Woreda, the following day. We conducted focus group discussions and interviews over the weekend (6 and 7 August) in Turmi and its surroundings. On 8 August we were in Omorate, Dassenech Woreda, where we did more interviews, focus group discussions and observations. On 9 August, we travelled to Kangaten, Nyangatom Woreda, where we interviewed experts. On our way back, we made a detour to a Kara village and did interviews with Kara youth. We travelled back to Jinka on 10 August, and did a second round of interviews with officials and experts there with additional insights we garnered from the Woredas.
