JANUARY 15, 2017 SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME 1502 E W ALLEN RD, FORT WAYNE , IN 46825 * (260)489 -3537 EXT . 3 * SAINTV .ORG 2 Mass Intentions From Our Pastor Monday, January 16 This weekend we find ourselves again in Ordinary Time, *6:30 am James Dumas the Christmas season having concluded last Monday 8:00 am INT Sheila Quinto with our celebration of the Feast of the Baptism of the Heb 5:1-10/Ps 110/Mk 2:18-22 Lord. Ordinary Time should not, however, be simply a Tuesday, January 17 “return to normal,” as if the graces of this year’s *6:30 am Richard Elward Christmas are fully unwrapped and already used, like last year’s presents. 8:00 am Phyllis Farrell Heb 6:10-20/Ps 111/Mk 2:23-28 We have received new gifts from the Lord in these past Wednesday, January 18 days, even if they remain hidden or in seed form. These * 6:30 am James Fenker gifts are actually an unfolding of the gift of our Baptism 8:00 am Denis Ricker (ALL MASS) (or, for those of us not yet Baptized, they are a Heb 7:1-3,15-17/Ps 110/Mk 3:1-6 preparation for it!), in which we receive from Christ our Thursday, January 19 vocation of membership in the family of the Church and our call to be saints. *6:30 am Gerald Herber 8:00 am Peter Tue Tran Just as I preached at all of the Masses last weekend on the importance of the Heb 7:25--8:6/Ps 40/Mk 3:7-12 Called and Gifted program to assist us in knowing and sharing our unique Friday, January 20 spiritual gifts (called charisms), Fr. Jonathan preaches this weekend on the joy of living our life from the gift of our vocation. 8:00 am Anna Gray *5:30 pm James Krouse I am also happy to share with you that Bishop Rhoades has appointed Heb 8:6-13/Ps 85/Mk 3:13-19 Fr. James Bromwich as Priest Chaplain of Parkview Regional Medical Center, Saturday, January 21 succeeding Fr. Ed Erpelding who so faithfully and fruitfully served in this 8:00 am Judy Keys capacity for many years. This will be a much needed added blessing for the 5:00 pm Peter Defazio pastoral care of the Catholic population at the hospital. Although Fr. Jonathan, Heb 9:2-3, 11-14/Ps 47/Mk 3:20-21 Fr. Polycarp, and I visit the hospitals many, many times a week, there is no Sunday, January 22 substitute for a regular presence there by a Priest throughout the day and into 7:15 am Johnny Melvin the evening. 9 :00 am A ngie Sinnott 11:00 am Antonio Arciga We are further blessed that Fr. Bromwich has been assigned to be in residence 12:45 pm For the Parish at St. Vincent’s. Although he will be living at the rectory (thus filling the final 6:00 pm Phyllis & Al Lauer suite of rooms set aside for a fourth Priest), Bishop Rhoades has designated his (Life Teen Mass) full-time responsibility be hospital ministry. This will be an immense help to the Is 8:23--9:3/Ps 27/1 Cor 1:10-13, 17/ Priests of St. Vincent’s, given the number and variety of urgent pastoral needs Mt 4:12-23 requiring daily attention. With Fr. Polycarp taking his vacation in Sri Lanka until * Spiritual Center Chapel early February, Fr. Jonathan and I greatly appreciate --- especially at this time --- Fr. Bromwich’s further brotherly support. On the subject of brotherly support, these past few weeks were such a joy at WeddingWedding Banns the rectory, given the presence of the seminarians home for the Christmas holidays. The rectory guest rooms were all booked and the house was filled Please pray that the Lord will abundantly with good conversation, restorative rest, and lots of laughter. I mention this to bless this couple as they prepare to take thank you for supporting the vocations of the Priests and seminarians of their marriage vows.
