He was the son of George and Mary Bonsall of Ecton, Staffordshire, who came to the Ysbyty Ystwyth area to work the Cwmystwyth mines as a manager, and later as lessee. He is estimated to have made a profit of £40,000 mining in north Cardiganshire. The family acquired the Galltyllan estate in Montgomeryshire through the marriage of John George William Bonsall (1817-1900) with Frances, daughter of Joseph Davies of Galltyllan in May 1853. His son, John Joseph Bonsall of Fronfraith and Galltyllan, married Emily Hughes of Glanrheidol. In 1873 the Fronfraith estate comprised 1,658 acres, yielding an annual rental of £1818. The federation (Ffederaswn Carno, Glantwymyn a Llanbrynmair) share one headteacher and one governing body, ensuring that each of the three schools stay separately within the law by keeping their own individual identity. This arrangement builds successfully on the strengths within the schools. We would like to extend a warm welcome to your child to Ysgol Carno. Choosing the right school for your child is important. Parents want a good education for their children, but we also want them to be happy and feel secure. At Ysgol Carno we believe that we can offer all of these things. We are proud of the extensive, balanced and full education that we provide across the school. The National Curriculum is taught by experienced teachers. In addition to the development of linguistic, mathematical, scientific and technological skills, your child will develop confidence, self support, will learn to make decisions and develop the ability to state feelings and ideas. We also emphasise the development of the child’s social skills and lead them to form a relationship with other children and adults, and to be sensitive to the feelings and the needs of other people. The teachers will ensure that the children move on at their own pace in order that they may reach their full potential.

Powys LDP 2011-2026: Deposit Draft with Focussed Changes and Further Focussed Changes plus Matters Arising Changes September 2017 2 Powys Local Development Plan 2011 – 2026 1/4/2011 to 31/3/2026 Written Statement Adopted April 2018 (Proposals & Inset Maps published separately) Adopted Powys Local Development Plan 2011-2026 This page left intentionally blank Cyngor Sir Powys County Council Adopted Powys Local Development Plan 2011-2026 Foreword I am pleased to introduce the Powys County Council Local Development Plan as adopted by the Council on 17th April 2017. I am sincerely grateful to the efforts of everyone who has helped contribute to the making of this Plan which is so important for the future of Powys. Importantly, the Plan sets out a clear and strong strategy for meeting the future needs of the county’s communities over the next decade. By focussing development on our market towns and largest villages, it provides the direction and certainty to support investment and enable economic opportunities to be seized, to grow and support viable service centres and for housing development to accommodate our growing and changing household needs. At the same time the Plan provides the protection for our outstanding and important natural, built and cultural environments that make Powys such an attractive and special place in which to live, work, visit and enjoy. Our efforts along with all our partners must now shift to delivering the Plan for the benefit of our communities. Councillor Martin Weale Portfolio Holder for Economy and Planning

  • 'IARRIAGES Introduction This Volume of 'Stray' Marriages Is Published with the Hope That It Will Prove
S T R A Y S Volume One: !'IARRIAGES Introduction This volume of 'stray' marriages is published with the hope that it will prove of some value as an additional source for the familv historian. For economic reasons, the 9rooms' names only are listed. Often people married many miles from their own parishes and sometimes also away from the parish of the spouse. Tracking down such a 'stray marriage' can involve fruitless and dishearteninq searches and may halt progress for many years. - Included here are 'strays', who were married in another parish within the county of Powys, or in another county. There are also a few non-Powys 'strays' from adjoining counties, particularly some which may be connected with Powys families. For those researchers puzzled and confused by the thought of dealing with patronymics, when looking for their Welsh ancestors, a few are to be found here and are ' indicated by an asterisk. A simple study of these few examples may help in a search for others, although it must be said, that this is not so easy when the father's name is not given. I would like to thank all those members who have helped in anyway with the compilation of this booklet. A second collection is already in progress; please· send any contributions to me.
