From Midway International Airport (MDW) Depart Airport on local road (South). Turn LEFT (East) onto W. 63rd Street. Turn LEFT (North) onto SR-50 [S. Cicero Avenue]. Proceed approximately 2.7 miles to I-55 (North) [Stevenson Expressway North]. Exit I-55 (after approximately 5.2 miles) onto I-90/I-94 (West). Exit interstate at Exit 51A (W. Lake Street). Turn RIGHT (East) onto W. Lake Street. Turn RIGHT (South) onto N. Clark Street. PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION From O’Hare International Airport (ORD) - Blue Line Train Follow the signs in the airport to “CTA Trains” or “Trains to City”. If you are coming from an international flight that lands in Terminal 5, follow signs to the Airport Transit System (ATS). Take the train to Terminal 2 and then follow the signs to “CTA Trains” or “Trains to City”. CTA’s O’Hare station is fully-accessible and conveniently located in the lower level concourse of the airport. CTA Blue Line trains provide frequent service from O’Hare Airport to downtown in 40-45 minutes. Board the train headed to “Forest Park” and exit at the “Clark/Lake” stop. Take the escalator up to the ground level and exit on Lake Street. Walk 1/2 block East to Clark Street, turn right (South) on Clark Street and our building is on the left (East) side of the street. For $2.25 each way, the CTA provides frequent and convenient train service connecting O’Hare Airport to downtown Chicago. The Blue Line operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week. From Midway International Airport (MDW) - Orange Line Train Follow the signs in the airport to “CTA Trains” or “Trains to City”. An orange line painted on the ground will guide you there. CTA’s Midway station is fully-accessible and conveniently located just east of the airport. A skybridge with escalators, elevators and moving sidewalks connects the airport to the station. CTA Orange Line trains provide frequent service from Midway Airport to downtown in 30-35 minutes. Board the train headed to “Loop” and exit at the “Clark/Lake” stop. Take the escalator down to the ground level and exit on Lake Street. Turn right (East) and walk 1/2 block to Clark Street. Turn right (South) on Clark Street and our building is on the left (East) side of the street. For $2.25 each way, the CTA provides frequent and convenient train service connecting Midway Airport to downtown Chicago. The Orange Line operates seven days a week, and only stops running from 1 AM to 4:30 AM..

Gregory Dr. Urbana, IL 61801 [email protected] April 2018 Abstract The recent literature on the effect of public transit lines on property values has relied primarily on difference in difference estimation approaches. The standard difference in difference approach of comparing sales prices before and after the opening of a new transit line or station is not well suited to this analysis because prices typically rise well in advance of the new service and there is no clear treatment or control area. Moreover, estimated treatment effects are likely to vary spatially and are not necessarily uniform across the full spectrum of home prices. An analysis of home prices before and after the opening of Chicago’s Orange Line from the Loop to Midway Airport suggests that house prices began to rise near the new line about two years before the opening. Estimated appreciation rates are highest for relatively low priced homes, and there is signification spatial variation within the area close to the new line. 2 1. Introduction The large literature on the effects of transit lines on house prices began with straightforward hedonic regressions of house prices on distance to stations, typically using cross sectional data sets. Representative examples of the hedonic approach include Dewees (1976), Bajic (1983), and Voith (1993). Although the hedonic approach can establish whether prices are higher near transit stations, the results are likely to be biased by missing variables that themselves are correlated with transit access.

Blue Line Stops The Clark/Lake station is below ground level, so passengers will need to use stairs, escalator or elevator to ascend to street level. From here, it is approximately a 6-10 minute walk or very short taxi ride to the property: Walking from Clark / Lake CTA stop to Hotel Alternatively, travelers electing not to walk or taxi from the CTA Clark / Lake Blue line station may then board the take the Brown Line CTA train from this station. The Brown Line station at the Clark / Lake stop is elevated, so passengers will need to make their way from the underground subway station to the Brown Line elevated platform toward (Northbound toward Kimball). From here it is only one additional stop to the station servicing the hotel. Passengers should disembark from the Brown Line train at the Merchandise Mart stop. This stop is connected to the Merchandise Mart building. The train platform leads directly into The Merchandise Mart building on its 2nd Floor. The Merchandise Mart’s 2nd Floor connects over Orleans Street via a skybridge into the 2nd Floor of the hotel building. Follow the 2nd Floor , and when you arrive past the skybridge, elevator banks will be straight ahead. Take these elevators up to the 15th Floor, main lobby of the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza. From Midway International Airport: Take the CTA Orange Line train to the Loop.
