Page 16 minterrornews.com Rich Schemmer’s Featured Coin: Rarest Known Indian Cent Struck on Venezuela 1 Centavo Planchet NGC MS 61 his 1877 (Key Date) Indian Cent was struck on a Venezuela 1 Centavo blank plan- Tchet. It is the only one known and it is unique to date. In 1874 the United States passed The Enabling Act, allowing the striking of coins for Foreign Nations. This is the earliest dated United States coin struck on a planchet intended for a different country. This very rare major mint error was certifed by NGC MS 61. It has a white lustrous color and is very dramatic since it is not struck on a copper cent blank.

The first two strikes were struck in the collar with a ten degree rotation.

The third and fourth strikes were 65 percent off-center.
