WELCOME TO THE ! Deacon Dave Van Tuyl

Do you have an adult friend who is interested in the Catholic Church but has never been baptized? Or maybe they were baptized in another Christian community but want to know more about the Catholic Faith? Well, you’re in luck! Do we have a program for you! The Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (or

“RCIA” for short) is the process provided by the Catholic Church, designed for those who have not been baptized and seek entry into the

Catholic Church. We also welcome our brothers and sisters of other Christian communities who have been baptized but want to learn more about Catholicism, and might be interested in coming into full communion with the Catholic Church.

Maybe you are a “cradle Catholic” but are a bit rusty on some of the teachings of the Church. This could be a learning opportunity for you as well. The RCIA program will introduce the basics of what we believe as Catholics, how we worship, how we are called to live in the world, and how we pray. All are welcome to join in any or all of the RCIA classes.

The RCIA program will begin this year on Tuesday, September 7 th, with classes meeting in the Ministry Center at 7pm. The program is designed to provide inquirers with an opportunity to learn about the Faith and to begin developing a relationship with Jesus Christ. Each participant’s own inquiry process will be different. Some may be ready to enter the Catholic Church at our Easter Vigil Mass, which is the highlight of the Church’s entire liturgical year. Others may not yet be ready, and that’s perfectly fine.

Just be assured that the RCIA team will be here to walk along this faith journey with each of our participants, and do our best to answer questions as we go. The Church has been here for 2000 years, and it will be here for you, too!

If you are interested in signing up for the RCIA program, please contact Deacon Dave at [email protected], or call the office at 276-3455 and let them know you are interested in th RCIA. We hope to see you on Tuesday, September 7 at 7pm in the Ministry Center for the start of an exciting journey!

Meets on Tuesdays, starting September 7, at 7P at the Ministry Center

Adults seeking Baptism or full communion with the Catholic Church enter the process known as the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA). This program covers the basics of Catholicism from doctrine to practice, including the Creed, sacraments, moral life in Christ, and prayer. Emphasis is given to building a long-lasting relationship with our Lord through liturgical celebrations.

If you are interested in becoming Catholic, and have been baptized in another Christian community, the preparation for entry into the Catholic Church is offered through RCIA or through a special program set up with an individual priest.

All parish adults are invited and welcome to attend the RCIA classes for enrichment in their faith.

SAINTS ALIVE!! Celebrating Extraordinary Volunteers Leone Garrett When Lee takes on a volunteer task, she does it in spades. She is totally reliable, prepared and compentent in the ministries she assumes at Holy Family. Lee has been a parishioner here since 1974 when Fr. Wilks was Pastor. Retiring as a cantor at age 80, she SAINTS ALIVE!! continues her ministry as a lector and has added votive candle maintenance, weekday sacristan, Legion of Mary and rosary praying at Planned Parenthood to her support of Holy Family. Lee says God has been good to her in giving her good health. Her advice is: if you say you’re going to do something, do it! Lee is a retired Air Force nurse. Outside of parish life, she is an avid gardener and an accomplished bridge player. Thank you, Lee!

They came to St. Alberts from locations spanning the continent from Quebec, Canada, to southern California.

The novices will make their first profession on September 4 at St. Dominic’s Church in San Francisco. The Mass will be livestreamed.

Their formation to the priesthood will span an additional seven years including two years of What’s not to like!!

philosophy, a year in parish ministry, and four

years of theology. Continued on page 9

Pray for them!

FAREWELL BR. ANTONY This past year has been one of the most memorable years of my life. Though it started off with quarantines and restrictions, each passing month brought more wonderful experiences. From the ministry experience I gained with groups like the Legion of Mary and RCIA, to the chances I had to go snow-machining, backpacking, snowshoeing, and fishing, my residency experience was one of new experiences, broadening horizons, and beautiful friendships. Thank you all for your warmSAINTS hospitality ALIVE!!and for sharing the obvious joy you have for this unique and exquisite state. I hope to be back up here soon, and, until then, I pray that the God whose hand is so readily visible in the beauty of this land and community draws us ever closer together in His heart!
