Inicialmente llegados como material de instrucción para la Escuela de Aviación ”Capitán Manuel Ávalos Prado”, de la Fuerza Aérea de Chile, estos aviones representaron para los jóvenes cadetes su primer contacto con el vuelo, pasando a ser posteriormente el principal tipo de aeronave disponible en los clubes aéreos civiles del país, en el cual muchos pilotos efectuaron su primer vuelo solo. Su incorporación a la aeronáutica civil en Chile se relaciona a la Colecta Nacional “Alas para Chile”, la cual representa históricamente la iniciativa más importante en apoyo a la aviación civil emprendida por el Estado en nuestro país, haciendo posible su época de gloria, con la expansión de sus adeptos y clubes aéreos, organizados en torno al Club Aéreo de Chile a lo largo de todo el territorio, alcanzando un nivel de prestigio que se ha repetido pocas veces en la historia de Chile.
