Important Dates 28th Jan- Phussa Punnami King Bimbisara took Dhammadeeksha and offered Veluvana Mahavihara to the Buddha in Rajagaha Building of first stupa Shwedagon Pagoda in Yangon, Myanmar.

27th Feb- Māgha Punnami Ovāda Pāṭimokkha (Vinaya) preached for the first time to a gathering of 1250 Arahant monks by Lord Buddha at Veḷuvana Monastery. - Buddha announces his Mahāparinibbāna Ordination of Aggasāvakās Sāriputta and Mahamoggalana Mahātheras.

24th Jun- Jettha Punnami Teaching of Mahāsamaya Paritta (the Protection of Great Assembly) Emperor Ashok’s son Ven. Important Dates 24th Jul- Āsaḷha Punnami Preaching of First Discourse - Dhammacakka Pavattana Sutta. Bodhisatta Siddhattha conceived in the womb of Mahamaya Devi. Bodhisatta Siddhattha sees the sign of a sick man. 4th Dec- Amavasya, Attainment of Parinibbāna of Mahā Moggallāna. 19th Dec Māgasira Punnami The Buddha’s victory over Nālāgiri, a mad elephant. Emperor Asoka’s daughter Ven. Sanghamittā Mahātheri arrives in Sri Lanka with the sacred Bodhitree sapling and planting at Anurādhapura, which is still surviving.
