Speakers’ Biographies

Gang Chu COO, China International Capital Corporation (CICC)

Mr. Gang Chu is the Chief Operating Officer and Member of Management Committee of CICC. Previously, he was the Head of Capital Markets and led capital market roles in the IPOs and follow-on offerings of many leading Chinese companies in the Hong Kong and mainland Chinese stock exchanges. He joined CICC in 2009 as the Head of Strategy Research. Prior to, Mr. Chu was a Managing Director and Senior Portfolio Manager of Alternative Investments. Previously he was the head trader of its Latin America equity derivatives business. He joined Citibank in 1993 in risk management.

Mr. Chu graduated with a B.S. degree from University of Science and Technology of China and a Ph.D. in Theoretical Physics and Phi Kappa Phi honor from Northeastern University in the US. He was enrolled in the MBA Program of New York University and is a CFA charter holder.

Piyush Gupta CEO and Director, DBS Group

Mr. Piyush Gupta is Chief Executive Officer and Director of DBS Group.

DBS is a leading financial services group in Asia, headquartered in Singapore. The bank has been recognised for its leadership in the region, having been conferred “Asia’s Best Bank” by The Banker and Euromoney, and “Asian Bank of the Year” by IFR Asia. DBS is at the forefront of leveraging digital technology to shape the future of banking, and has been named “World’s Best Digital Bank” by Euromoney.

Prior to joining DBS, Piyush was Citigroup’s Chief Executive Officer for South East Asia, and .

Piyush sits on the Executive Committee of the Institute of International Finance, Washington and on the Board of Trustees of Asia Society. In addition, he serves as the Deputy Chairman of SPRING Singapore and is a board member of The Institute of Banking and Finance and Dr. Goh Keng Swee Scholarship Fund.

Sridhar Chandrasekharan Global CEO, HSBC Global Asset Management

Sri became Chief Executive of HSBC Global Asset Management in January 2012, having joined asset management as Global Head of Wholesale in March 2010.

Sri joined the HSBC Group in 1993, and has worked in a variety of roles in India, , Philippines, Hong Kong and the United Kingdom. Prior to his appointment in asset management, Sri was Head of Structured Credit, EMEA for Global Markets.

Sri holds a Bachelor of Technology degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, and a Post Graduate Diploma in Management from the Indian Institute of Management.

Henrik Raber Global Head of Capital Markets, Standard Chartered Bank

Henrik is the Global Head of Capital Markets at Standard Chartered Bank.

He joined the Bank in July 2009 as Regional Head of Capital Markets for Europe, Africa and Americas, and took on the role of Global Head of Debt Capital Markets in March 2010 before assuming his current role in mid-August 2014.

Prior to Standard Chartered, Henrik was with UBS Investment Bank, where he headed European Credit Flow Sales and Trading, which encompassed Investment Grade, High Yield and Loans. During his eight years at UBS he also managed the Syndicate business, the Global Medium Term Note franchise and was a member of the European Fixed Income Management Committee. Before working at UBS, Henrik was with Lehman Brothers for eight years in Fixed Income credit trading and capital markets.

Mark Austen CEO, ASIFMA

Mark Austen is the Chief Executive Officer of ASIFMA. Since joining ASIFMA in 2012, he has led the expansion of the association to encompass Equities, Compliance, Post-Trade and Asset Management in addition to its original division for Fixed Income, and its membership has grown to over 80 firms. Mark’s key objectives at ASIFMA are to expand its product divisions, continue to build a broad membership base and further strengthen its ability to act as a collective voice for the industry. Mark was formerly with the Association for Financial Markets in Europe (AFME) as Chief Operating Officer. He joined AFME (then called The Bond Market Association or TBMA) in 2005 to head up the European Primary Dealers Association (EPDA), which addressed issues of specific interest to government bond markets. He is an active member of the board of the Global Financial Markets Association (GFMA) where he represents the Asian perspective on global regulatory issues.

Mark holds an LL.M. from the London School of Economics and an LL.B. from Osgoode Law School in Toronto.
