Tennent PRESIDENTIAL CHARGE TO THE CLASS OF 2020 The Words of Affirmation and Commitment The Call to Ministry President: Brothers and sisters of the 2020 graduating class of Asbury Theological Seminary, our call to discipleship is a call to transformational love. Dami Adeliyi: Hear, O Israel! You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. President: We are called by Christ to embody all of the realities of the inbreaking kingdom as we preach the gospel, serve the poor, and live in holiness. Kaylyn Moran: The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me, because the Lord has anointed me; He has sent me to bring good news to the oppressed, to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and release to the prisoners; to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor, and the day of vengeance of our God; and to comfort all who mourn. President: Though in Christ we are one body, we have many members, with gifts differing according to the grace given to us by the Holy Spirit. Jessica Avery: The gifts the Lord gave were that some would be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the Body of Christ, until all of us come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to maturity, to the measure of the full stature of Christ. President: Graduates, do you affirm in the presence of this company that you have heard God’s call to a vocation of ministry; that you have tested that call in reflection and ministry; and that you now stand ready to take further steps of faithful service and mission? Thomas Lyons and Dylan Zeigler: This we affirm. President: As our mission proclaims: “Asbury Theological Seminary is a community called to prepare theologically educated, sanctified, Spirit-filled men and women to evangelize and to spread scriptural holiness throughout the world through the love of Jesus Christ, in the power of the Holy Spirit, and to the glory of God the Father.” Are you prepared to go forth as ambassadors of this message? Allison and Christian Clour: Trusting in the work of Christ, we are. President: Graduates, will you give yourself to a life of: earnest piety and community formation; prayer, the study of the scriptures, and all the means of grace; solidarity with the poor and marginalized, seeking justice and offering mercy; lifelong learning; concern for the whole of God’s creation; and mission among those who have yet to call on the name of Jesus Christ? Yakubu Jakada: We will, the Holy Spirit being our helper. President: Members of the faculty, members of the President’s Cabinet, and Trustees, you have heard our graduates affirm their call to active discipleship and ministry. Will you join me in their commission? President, Faculty, President’s Cabinet and Trustees: Read by Dr. James Miller, Mr. Jay Mansur, Mrs. Karen Thomas and Bishop Al Gwinn We commission you as servants of our Lord Jesus Christ to serve Christ in all the world, to know Him and to make Him known, to embody in your lives the good news of the Kingdom of God, to be the church in the world and to build up the body of those who call Him Lord. In the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen. President: Let us pray. Almighty God, Father of all mercies, graciously behold these your servants. Without Your help, they are helpless. Empower them therefore with Your Holy Spirit, that they may be strong for the tasks which lie ahead; and in all their works may they glorify Your Holy Name, and advance Your blessed Kingdom; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. BENEDICTION ................................................................................................Rev. Comic books have rarely been treated as a serious art form or cultural phenomenon. It used to be that creating a comic book would be considered shameful or something done only as side work. Beginning in the 1990s, some comic creators were able to leverage enough cultural capital to influence more media. In the post-9/11 world, generic elements of superheroes began to resonate with audiences; superheroes fight against injustices and are able to confront the evils in today’s America. This has created a billion dollar, Oscar-award-winning industry of superhero movies, as well as allowed created comic book careers for artists and writers.

In 1692, Harvard, only 50 years after its founding, awarded the first such degree and thus began what has become a recognized function of degree‑granting institutions of higher learning. From the beginning, honorary degrees were granted to recognize the achievements of persons in the particular field of their interest. Among the types of honorary degrees awarded are: 1. Doctor of Laws (LL.D.), first conferred in 1773, is the most frequent honorary doctorate awarded. It is regarded as the most appropriate award for a person distinguished in general service to the state, to learning and to humankind. 2. Doctor of Letters (Litt.D.), first awarded in 1892, is considered to be appropriate as an honor for scholarly work of a somewhat restricted nature.

FREE WHISPER THE DEAD PDF Alyxandra Harvey | 416 pages | 09 Oct 2014 | Bloomsbury Publishing PLC | 9781408854839 | English | London, United Kingdom The Walking Dead Season 10 Finale Recap: Whisperer War Ends When we last saw The Walking Deadour survivors were holed up in an assortment of buildings surrounded Whisper the Dead the insane Beta, Whisper the Dead remaining Whisperer minions, and approximately four kazillion zombies. How can Daryl, CarolJudith, and the others survive such an overwhelming onslaught? Like so much other TV, the arrival of covid delayed the season 10 finale, which, during the interim, ceased being the season 10 finale. Now that we know that there are six more episodes to come, it takes some of the pressure off this one to blow our minds, as season finales should. This is good, because while the episode was fun, mind-blowing it was not. The wagon can be pulled by horses, and lead the herd right off a giant, conveniently located cliff. Actually, only a few of them wore zombie masks despite it being immeasurably safer, which I thought was unnecessarily pertinent. This is the episode at its best. They only wound these Whisperers so that they cry out in pain…which grabs Whisper the Dead attention of all the nearby zombies who discover lunch has just been delivered to them. Even better, Lydia stays for a while, helping point out her former cult-mates which helps keep Daryl and the others safe. She dies well; stabbing the Whisperer who stabbed her, begging the nearby Carol Whisper the Dead to rescue her but to grab her backpack, which contains some needed parts.

Lance agrees, adding that they can't have people loosing faith in the officers and explains that this is why they need Michonne's help. Mercer wonders what happens if Pamela doesn't want to talk, but Rick assures him they won't give her a choice. Princess says they just picked her up, but they are getting to know each other; Lance says he will need to talk with her a little more. He wants her to defend the officers and prove they did nothing wrong, firmly adding that this is not a request. He says that this is his way of honoring her and that he is always thinking about her. Not much in the way of forgiveness and redemption. Glenn shoots their heads and Dexter is "arrested" because everyone thinks Dexter is the murderer. One of them, Sebastian , tries to convince the other to have sex, noting that they are far enough away for anyone to see. Pamela points out that some residents have much nicer home than others, and questions how they are going to determine who deserves to sleep in them. The mob are about to beat her up when Jerome throws himself on top of her to shield her from them. The nihilistic heart-wrenching ending hits brutal. Rick commends John's leadership, saying that he really turned things around and John replies that he's "all about making friends now".

  • What Can I Do with a Black Studies Major? 222 Answers
What Can I Do With A Black Studies Major? 222 Answers by Robert Fikes, Jr., Librarian San Diego State University Third Edition 2011 The interdisciplinary field of Blacks Studies—alternatively called African American Studies, Afro-American Studies, Africana Studies, Pan African Studies, or Afro-Ethnic Studies, depending on the school where it is offered---is a relative newcomer on the academic scene and its proponents have had to defend its theoretical underpinnings and practicality, something which the traditional liberal arts fields are also challenged to do but not to the same extent. Since the establishment of the nation’s first Black Studies department in 1968 at San Francisco State University, and despite the wide acceptance and institutionalization of Black Studies in academia, there still remains the nagging question about its ability to produce outstanding citizens equal in quality to individuals who as undergraduates majored in, say, history or English or art. Black Studies has now been around long enough to notice its handiwork: men and women constructively contributing to society, employed in a wide spectrum of professions. It is a difficult task to compile a list of noteworthy people who majored in Black Studies because there are so many who could easily qualify. This list merely scratches the surface. Black Studies attracts a broad span of interested scholars. Not only persons of African descent, but also persons of European, Asian, Latino, Middle Eastern, and Native American descent are represented in the list. Some of those mentioned are virtually household names or have received considerable local or regional attention. Their professions range from A (Astronaut) to Z (Zoo administrator).
