Prior to entering public service, he worked as a youth pastor at Albertville’s Grace Fellowship Church and was a co-founder of Dream Ranch, one of the most recognized hunting and fishing lodges in the United States. He currently operates the annual Tennessee Valley Hunting and Fishing Expo, which draws more than 20,000 attendees each year. In 2014, Lt. Gov. Sustainability: Organizational health enables us to act boldly for the long-term benefit of Explora, our community, and our partners. 04 05 Letter from the President and Executive Director of Explora During 30 listening sessions with more than 300 people, we heard a consistent desire for safe, child-centered communities with high-quality early childhood education and plentiful jobs that create pathways out of poverty. Explora utilized this feedback to develop our Cradle through Career STEAM Learning Strategic Focus through which we engage, educate, and employ New Mexicans in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math). This year was a big one in terms of implementing this strategic focus, and we are thankful to the countless volunteers, partners, and donors who made our work possible. In fiscal year 2019 (July 1, 2018–June 30, 2019), Explora reached a record-breaking number of people and did more to improve educational and economic outcomes for New Mexico than ever before.

Through canonization and Historical documentation, white male dominance has been ensured, obscuring contributions made by white female performers and erasing black, Indigenous, and women of colour (BIWoC) from the genre. Utilizing feminist critical discourse analysis (feminist CDA) to examine texts by canonized male bands reveals the discursive parameters of ideal heavy metal subjectivity (IHMS). Exploration of texts created by white female performers, including a case study of Arch Enemy vocalist Alissa White-Gluz, isolates the necessity for white female performers to reproduce the discourses of IHMS in order to secure their participation in the culture, further contributing to the erasure of BIWoC performers. However, feminist CDA also reveals transformative potential within these texts to de-centre IHMS as the default subject position and shows white women’s agency and resiliency as performers.

Latino candidates are demonstrating that they can successfully pursue seats in the executive and legislative branches of government throughout the country, where some of the most important decisions are made about the policies that affect the lives of all Americans. Additionally, Latinos are achieving new milestones in their efforts to attain full representation at the federal and state level. This Election Profile focuses on key federal and state races involving Latino candidates in the general election on November 8, 2016. Latinos are running for top offices in 38 states. The geographic diversity of Latino candidates demonstrates that Latinos are mobilizing for political progress in both the traditional Latino population centers, and in regions with emerging Latino communities such as the Plains States, the Midwest, the Deep South, and New England. Latinos in the U.S. Senate: The number of Latinos in the U.S. Senate could increase from three to five, if all competitive contenders win their bids (incumbent U.S. Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Robert Menendez (D-NJ) are not up for re-election in 2016). With the partisan balance of power in the U.S. Senate at stake, two of the races are considered particularly crucial for both political parties. In Florida, incumbent U.S. Senator Marco Rubio (R) faces a challenge from U.S. Rep. Patrick Murphy (D).
