Because of You BECAUSE OF YOU, 2015 ANNUAL REPORT OUR MESSAGE TO YOU Welcome to our first-ever Annual Report! While the Foundation was formed in the 1990s, we think it is time to more formally raise the profile of this organization, add a more pronounced“Thank You” for your long-standing generosity, and begin to tell you more about where we’re going. In our years of working with the Catholic Education Foundation, one thing is for sure. Our broader central Kentucky community truly believes in the Catholic education experience and values its impact. And that is why so many of you, both families and businesses, have given so selflessly to the cause of helping families who cannot afford the full cost of Catholic schools for their kids. Yes, our Catholic schools – 37 elementary and nine secondary with combined enrollments of nearly 20,000 students – are leading the way in demonstrated value to our community like no other. Why are Catholic schools so important? The answer is simple – They are the best way to connect Faith, Family and Learning the world over. No other educational experience better links these three precious life-long gifts. None. So if this experience is so valuable on such a broad scale, shouldn’t we all work together to enhance its vitality and extend its reach to more students? THE ANSWER IS YES! This past year in central Kentucky Catholic schools was quite historic on several fronts, but none more important than the Novem - ber 2014 joint announcement of a new Catholic school plan by the Archdiocese of Louisville and the Catholic Education Founda - tion. Together, we created a new model of tuition assistance for Catholic elementary schools that surprised even us. This fall, in concert with a new funding partnership – The Foundation, the Archdiocese, the schools and parishes, School Choice Scholarships and Community Catholic Center – tuition assistance awards totaled a staggering $5 million and reached nearly 2,400 students in our elementary schools. This astonishing result was 60% higher in student outreach than ever before! WOW! Here’s even better news about our future. In March, the Foundation and the Archdiocese jointly announced a goal to add 1,000 elementary students within five years to the more than 13,000 we serve today. Of course, to reach this goal will take more than our record sum this year. But the momentum we are all building for Catholic education leaves no doubt about the outcome. So spread the word – Catholic school enrollment in central Kentucky is on the rise! Any of the success that the Foundation has achieved during this historic year was solely attributable to God’s Divine Providence and our incredible donors, many of whom are featured in this report. While our work is never done, we march on to achieve results no one thought possible and extend our reach to families who only dream of this great gift for their children. Let’s all stand to - gether for those who yearn for a Catholic education for their children and proclaim to them, “THE ANSWER IS YES!” God bless you all for your unending devotion and kindness, David P.     Newsletter 2019 SPRING EDITION SALUTE DINNER ROARS TO RECORD NET $1,125,000 Astonishing Result Surpasses Previous Year Mark of $1 Million Work Continues to Grow Catholic Elementary School Enrollments The Catholic Education Foundation’s 29th annual Salute to Catholic School Alumni dinner extended its record-setting streak of funds raised in support of its mission – and not by just a little bit! Held on the evening of March 27 in the Grand Ballroom of down- town Louisville’s Galt House Hotel, the Salute hosted a sell-out crowd of nearly 1,700 guests, continuing its tradition as a hallmark community event in the Commonwealth. This year’s event soared to a historic record of $1,125,000 in net proceeds, rocketing past the previous year record of $1,000,000. Foundation President Richard A. Lechleiter remarked, “Who would have ever dreamed that this event would raise so much to brighten the futures of so many families! We are truly humbled by this amazing result and thank God for its unprecedented success.” All of the funds from the Salute will be used to provide tuition assistance to families who cannot afford the full cost of a Catholic elementary education for their children. The Archdiocese of Keynote speaker Most Reverend J. Mark Spalding, the Louisville sponsors 40 Catholic elementary schools in central Twelfth Bishop of Nashville Kentucky with aggregate student enrollments of 13,100. This historic event was co-chaired by the Most Reverend Joseph E. Kurtz, Archbishop of Louisville, and Mr. William E. Mudd, President and Chief Operating Officer of Churchill Downs Incorporated.

    ARCHDIOCESE OF LOUISVILLE CATHOLIC SCHOOLS DELAYED OPENING/EARLY DISMISSAL POLICIES September 2014 INCLEMENT WEATHER The decision to close schools due to weather conditions will be announced via radio and TV for the Catholic schools of Jefferson County. Catholic schools outside Jefferson County will follow the local public school announcements or their own announced procedure. One of the following announcements will be made: 1. All Catholic elementary and high schools in Jefferson County are OPEN. 2. Catholic elementary and high schools in Jefferson County will be OPEN BUT ON A DELAYED SCHEDULE. 3. All Catholic elementary and high schools in Jefferson County are CLOSED. DELAYED SCHEDULE Each administrator, after consultation with the local school board or equivalent decision-making group, will determine a DELAYED SCHEDULE for the individual school. Written notice about how the school will react to all inclement weather announcements will be given to all persons affected by the decision. Please see the chart below for the delayed schedule start time for each Catholic elementary school. EARLY DISMISSAL-ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS No public announcements will be made about early dismissal in Jefferson County Catholic elementary schools except in the case of extreme emergency. Each administrator, after consultation with the local school board or equivalent decision-making group, will determine an early dismissal policy and communicate it in writing to all persons affected by the decision.
