  • Who Is Gail Riplinger?
Who is Gail Riplinger? A Warning for God’s Sheep By Aletheia O’Brien WHO IS GAIL RIPLINGER? 1 Who is Gail Riplinger? Part One “Truth is independent of who presents it.” – Gail Riplinger (1994), Which Bible is God’s Word?, p. 5. “Behold, thou desirest truth in the inward parts.” – Psalm 51:6 Context is Everything A recurring theme in Gail Riplinger’s interviews and church lectures is her comparison of herself to certain righteous women of the Bible such as Jael, Deborah, the wise woman of 2 Samuel, and Mary Magdalene. Such comparisons are intended to explain why she, a woman, is justified in teaching the church about the Bible and from church pulpits where men are present in the congregation. In several church lectures, filmed in the mid 1990s, Mrs. Riplinger explained the following: 1.) The second question I receive most often is the lady question. You know, what’s a lady doing up there? … And, so, I’ll answer that very, very quickly … Those of you who know the Bible … know that it’s merely a type, ok? Let me go through a couple verses. If you have a pencil, you can write these down. But when you start in Judges chapter 4 and 5, it said: “Every man did that which was right in his own eyes,” ok? … [I]mmediately after that happens you have Deborah and Jael showing up, and it says: “The Lord shall sell Sisera into the hand of a woman,” ok? Because “every man did that which was right in his own eyes.” Ok, in Judges chapter 9, verse 53, we have an incident of Abimelech, and you know Abimelech was the usurper.

Assignment of Bare Rights to Litigate Andrew Cheng ASSIGNMENT OF BARE RIGHTS TO LITIGATE: ASSESSING THE MODERN DOCTRINAL POSITION ANDREW CHENG 5 June 2014 A thesis submitted in partial fulfilment of the requirements for Honours in Law at the University of Sydney Word Count: 11,856 Supervisor: Professor Greg Tolhurst 1 Assignment of Bare Rights to Litigate Andrew Cheng ABSTRACT It is well settled that an assignment of a bare right to litigate (or bare right of action) is prima facie invalid unless the assignee could establish a ‘genuine commercial interest’ in taking the transfer. Although the ‘genuine commercial interest’ test has frequently been applied in Australian cases, little ink has been spilled on elucidating its precise meaning. This paper begins with a critical examination of the mischief behind judicial opposition to assignments of bare rights of action, then proceeds to investigate the meaning of ‘genuine commercial interest’ with particular attention to two contentious aspects, viz.: the need for the assignee to possess a pre- existing interest arising separately from the assignment, and the relevance of profit making by the assignee. This paper argues that judicial inquiry should not focus on the nature of the assignee’s interest but rather on the effect of the assignment with reference to the mischief that maintenance and champerty were intended to redress; accordingly, an assignment should not be struck down merely because the assignee lacks a pre-existing interest or makes a profit from the assignment. 2 Assignment of Bare Rights to Litigate Andrew Cheng TABLE OF CONTENTS Abstract ........................................................................................................................... 2 I Introduction ............................................................................................................. 4 II Bare Rights of Action ............................................................................................

  • My Drift Title: Triple Crown Written By: Jerry D
My Drift Title: Triple Crown Written by: Jerry D. Petersen Date: 20 May 2017 Article Number: 259-2017-15 The Triple Crown of Thoroughbred Horse Racing, better known as the Triple Crown, is a title awarded to a three-year-old thoroughbred horse who wins the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes, and Belmont Stakes. The three races were inaugurated in different years, the last being the Kentucky Derby in 1875. These races are now run annually in May and early June of each year. The Triple Crown Trophy, commissioned in 1950 but awarded to all previous winners as well as those after 1950, is awarded to a Triple Crown winner. The Triple Crown Trophy Churchill Downs thoroughbred racetrack is located on Central Avenue in south Louisville, Kentucky. It is most famous for hosting the Kentucky Derby annually (on the first Saturday of May). This race is nicknamed, “The Run for the Roses.” The track is named for John and Henry Churchill who provided the land. It officially opened in 1875 and held the first Kentucky Derby and the first Kentucky Oaks in the same year. Churchill Downs has also hosted the renowned Breeders' Cup on eight occasions, most recently in 2011. Churchill Downs Front Inside Churchill Downs The Kentucky Derby Pimlico Race Course is a thoroughbred horse racetrack in Baltimore, Maryland, most famous for hosting the Preakness Stakes. Its name is derived from the 1660s when English settlers named the area where the facility currently stands in honor of Olde Ben Pimlico's Tavern in London. The racetrack is nicknamed "Old Hilltop" after a small rise in the infield that became a favorite gathering place for thoroughbred trainers and race enthusiasts.
